Bobby Jones Golf Club - Championship Course

This is a classic parkland-style course except there are very few trees. Mostly turtle-back greens with gentle slopes and a couple with two tiers. Bunkers and mounds in all the right places. The holes are laid out in mostly straight forward patterns with very little rough to speak of. You can miss the fairways right or left and still find your ball. Seven tee boxes to choose from for any skill level. In essence, a very simple course to play.

Visitor to the are so I don't know the history except that this was closed for 1 year for a redesign and opened again in 2023. The greens roll perfectly and slightly fast and are tough to hold. I guess that it will take a while for the greens to soften up a bit and hold a tight shot. Plan on a lot of run when approaching.

The course has an app with a course GPS but I had a hard time getting good yardages from it. Used my golf watch and range finder for accuracy.

Summer weekend green fess of $69 seemed reasonable for the course and easier to get a tee time with all the private clubs in the area.

For the lack of rain we have had the course was in great shape. Greens rolled true, fairways and tees in good shape. The new layout is fun, not a lot of trouble which isn’t a bad thing. Will for sure play again now that the seasonal peeps are gone.

from Tee 10 we had new a flight with 2 players in front off us. They played very bad and slowly.We missed the marshal.

No gps and apps didnt find this course. No 150 post and harzard mark from water. We have to guess and check little map in score card. Good for practice for beginners or players. Also range balls are very expensive from sarasota county.

greens ok but just BORING

I got a hole in one number 13 playing black tee. Ask the staff and golf pro to do something, at least give my whole group a free round. they refused too. That suck. Green is big and beautiful. Very wide open look like link course. Staff is not very friendly, slow play, wait for every hole.

Bobby Jones was redone and I liked it very much. I bounced between tees and found every hole interesting and challenging. I really like the course and with time it will be great.

Overall, a very good experience. It could help if there were a few sign here & there indicating where the next tee box was, for those who haven't played the course before.

Golf in good shape. Warm welcome when we arrived. Played in 4h08 not good enough for the Marshall who has been harassing for the last 7 holes and threathen us. First time it ever happened in more than 30 years… Aside of his behaviour, I would recommend the course. Staff is friendly, greens were firm and well maintained.

Greens and green complexes are superb. Hopefully they can be maintained.

First time playing this course. We had a reduced rate. Course conditions were pretty good, I had grass under my ball for the most part - some courses I play don’t have that. Greens were in good shape & rolled good. Most tee’s were very dry & hard to peg. Hit a few range balls but didn’t use other practice facilities which looked very nice. Cart girl was friendly, only seen her twice during round, no big deal for me. Cart guys greeted us on arrival and starter was friendly. Pace of play was somewhat slow, had to wait on most holes.

A municipal course recently renovated from two courses,to one flat well maintained course. Fairways and greens were watered. A large selection of tee boxes. I am not sure the merger of the British and American courses makes itt a better layout, but there is certainly less to maintain. We enjoyed our one round. Temporary clubhouse, with plans for a nicer facility.

2nd Saturday iive played first round 4/12 hrs 2nd round 4 3/4 hrs. Too slow don’t play on Saturday unless you like slow going.
