Peacock Gap Golf Club
About
Peacock Gap Golf Club extends along the shores of San Pablo Bay, but it sits inland enough to avoid the fogginess of the coast and enjoy consistently sunny weather throughout the year. The course's layout has undergone many renovations over the years that have brought it to its current playability, including a new drainage system, new tee boxes, a reshaping of five of the greens, and relocation of bunkers. The golf course kept the classic features of its original layout though, such as the inviting fairways that still provide a challenge and the tricky greens that deceptively extend past where the player thinks they end. In addition to the course, Peacock Gap has also improved their practice facilities over the years. There is an all-grass driving range, two large practice greens, and a chipping green.

Nice course in Marin County
Peacock Gap is a nice track. Decent little layout that's not too difficult but challenging enough. Greens are well maintained and the price is right. They also have a good driving range and practice area if you just want to hit a few balls after work.
Great course for walking or riding
Great course for walking or riding
Although the course at first Glance glance may seem flat and easy the approach shots to The Green are almost without fail challenging and difficult with protected by bunkers and sloping greens
you can score low here but also go higher than you might think
Great value!
Peacock Gap has become my go-to course primarily because of its convenient location for me but that said, it's a very good track with enough challenging holes to make it worthwhile! The folks who run the operation do a great job, especially in this new post-quarantine reality! All in all a terrific value!
Open during shelter-in-place
This is one of the only golf courses open during the shelter-in-place.
They're taking some precautions to minimize touch and to ensure social distancing. I made my reservation through GolfNow and then I had to pay the fee at the golf course (where I gave my credit card information verbally so the person didn't touch my credit card).
They let me tee off a few minutes before 7 am (the sun hadn't risen yet), and I ended up playing in 2.5 hours, which was great!
I was there when one of the groundskeeping staff was talking to the person at the pro shop (sorry I didn't get anyone's name) and they were going to raise the cups (again, to minimize touch) and remove rakes from bunkers. This hadn't been done during my round yet, but I appreciate that they're thinking about these sorts of things during this grim time.
I'm super grateful they're staying open as most courses (even private clubs it seems) are shut down.
Playable for women
This course is challenging yet designed in favor of women players. First time playing in California. Great course!
Great day
Great weather, course in great shape. Greens in great shape, besides a slow group clogging things up, it was great.
Read the fine print thoroughly....
Found Peacock Gap on Golfnow.com for supposedly “special deals”.....what they fail to tell you is that at PC the price “does not” include a golf cart ... that would be an additional cost added to the deal price...so be warned.
The greens at PC are quite undulating and challenging. Great course in San Raphael but back nine a bit of a wait.
Very good course
Peacock Gap is an excellent course. It is a little out of the way but is is challenging but not too difficult. The course is in good condition.
Peacock Gap GC Review
Peacock Gap is a very good golf course to play, not only for the average golfer, but also for those who are very experienced. The course is in generally good condition, but a few of the sandtraps remain to be upgraded. The course is not far from central San Rafael and is in a beautiful location. Relaxing in the clubhouse at the end of the day is a definite plus with taasty food and reasonably priced drinks.
Fun Course Outside of San Francisco
My friends and I try to make it a point to regularly play golf outside of San Francisco. When we do, we typically head north to Peacock Gap for a variety of reasons. The course is beautiful and has multiple memorable holes including a Par 3 that plays over water. Additionally, the course has one of the few grass practice ranges in the area, so it's always nice to spend extra time getting some practice reps in. The staff has always been incredibly friendly to me and we often spend time afterward on the deck having a few post-round beers. All of this comes at a great discounted rate. I highly recommend this course for anyone looking to have a fun round of golf.
Greens in great shape
With rains coming in this afternoon, I teed off early to get in a round before the winter wet starts in full. I played solo and after a twosome let me play through on hole #2, I had nobody in front of me. (FWIW, I teed off at about 7:15 AM).
I finished in TWO HOURS, which was due to it being cold and me not dilly dallying, not waiting on any shots and also shockingly playing pretty well.
I will say having played this course a lot, I did so because it tends to not drain all that great - it's an older course and the drainage is what you would expect. So this may be the last round for awhile if the winter is truly here. Peacock isn't cheap and with it being one of only two public 18-hole courses in Marin, they have a captive audience but the greens were in great shape and most of the bunkers were as well. No complaints with conditions today.
October Sunday at Peacock
The course was in good shape. The greens were the fastest I have seen in 43 years of playing this course, really good. Played in 4.5 hours, football games probably helped. Fun, medium-difficulty course.
Great Golf No Traffic
Why sit in traffic? Enjoyed a great time on an excellent course then drove the rest of the way home without traffic. The greens rolled good and the sand traps are in excellent condition.
Sandy greens
I really like this course, but several times I have booked without knowing that the greens were just sanded. I think they can do more to inform people of these conditions. This game is hard enough without putting in a sand box!
