Peacock Gap Golf Club
About
Peacock Gap Golf Club extends along the shores of San Pablo Bay, but it sits inland enough to avoid the fogginess of the coast and enjoy consistently sunny weather throughout the year. The course's layout has undergone many renovations over the years that have brought it to its current playability, including a new drainage system, new tee boxes, a reshaping of five of the greens, and relocation of bunkers. The golf course kept the classic features of its original layout though, such as the inviting fairways that still provide a challenge and the tricky greens that deceptively extend past where the player thinks they end. In addition to the course, Peacock Gap has also improved their practice facilities over the years. There is an all-grass driving range, two large practice greens, and a chipping green.

Nice Couse But Overpriced
I like playing different courses. If I can get a good deal I will drive to another course if the savings pay for my gas. I got a good deal here, $25.00 walking rate. I didn't know they had carts as they just show walking rates, I should have called but this is a course you can walk. The practice facilities are nice, good putting greens and a nice driving range. It is a very nice course but there are a lot better near by for a better price. The course is not that difficult so I feel just about anyone can play this course. I stayed and had dinner which was very good. I don't like saying negative things but the waiter kind of ignored me for about 10 minutes, he was nice but needs seasoning, needs to let people know that he knows they are there and he will get to them ASAP.
One thing that really bothered me was the $9.00 for a small bucket of balls, REALLY.
I would recommend this course to a friend only if he got the deal I got. I also would play this course again but only at the price I paid $25.00 walking rate.
Overpriced and not that great...
It continues to amaze me how just because this course is in Marin County, they can charge $64 for a $25 round of golf. Greens are better but still in awful shape, some kind of fungus destroyed them a few years ago. Fairways aren't really maintained, weeds everywhere and just not in good shape. Homes around are probably overpriced, too, just because it's Marin. I'll take my Napa Valley courses for half the price and better weather and greens. Don't bother with this one.
Nice Course Great views
Outstanding golf course without the wind. Good mix of hole difficulty made it challenging yet enjoyable. They need additional restrooms on the course since one in just not enough. Watch for the wind in the afternoon.
Great course and practice facilities
I booked a Hot Deal for only $35 (walking rate), which is more defintely worth the money. This was my second time playing the course and I seem to play really well here. The tee openings can get narrow at some holes, but open up towards the center, so you'll still need some accuracy off the tee. It's not too difficult for beginner golfers, but the sand/water hazards will give the more experienced golfers some obstacles to battle. The greens can are very big and sometimes multi-tiered, so putting can be very challenging. Started at 1:57 and was done by 5:30, not your typical Sunday afternoon pace. I highly recommend this course.
Not the best value.
I like Peacock Gap as the weather is always nicer than in San Francisco. I feel like they charge $10 more than what the course is worth though. Greens are better than other muni courses in the area but would rather play other courses in the area for the price.
fun course
Good course with some interesting holes. Staff was friendly and had an overall good experience. Worth a visit
Nice Walking Course
Good variety of holes. Flat layout which lends itself to walking . We played as a twosome behind some foursomes and still finished in 3.5 hours. Practise area is first rate.
Peacock Gap 2015
The course is in pretty good shape. Very friendly and helpful staff.
The food is really good.
My only objection was slow play and no marshals to help slow golfers along. It was Sunday, but they should definitely
have them on duty. Otherwise, it was good fun
Frost Delay
We had a 2 hour and 15 minute frost delay. Really appreciated the free coffee and also allowing our group to sit in the restaurant/bar area even though it wasn't open yet.
Ridiculously crowded
I've been playing this course a few times this winter and have to say that it is overly crowded. I gave up after 9 holes as it took 2 hours 45 minutes as there were too many players...at one hole three groups were waiting at the tee off! We were told that's because the conditions are not great...but they nevertheless send foursomes out every 9 minutes...that means everyone has to hit the ball every thirty seconds perfectly to finish in 9 minutes (4 players have 8 minutes per hole and need to play perfect pars (4x4 hits = 16 hits...each hit 30 seconds, so 8 minutes...and then one minute to move to the next hole...that's just not possible, sorry!).
Very disappointed about the lack of speed on this course and the overcrowding all day long.
GREAT GREENS
The greens were in excellent condition, especially under our recent weather conditions. I actually can't remember ever playing on the greens in such top condition.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We agree, the greens are the best they've ever been and arguably the best anywhere in the area. Thanks for playing and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Very layabe
Peacock is a very playable course, the fairways are wide and many holes are challenging. the course conditions here a little wet so your ball got no roll. as a result the course played longer. I would certainly play this course again.
Average course, greens need to recover (Nov2014)
A decent, shortish track that is sneaky challenging. Unfortunately, the greens still seem a ways away from recovering from aeration (Nov'14). Could have used an alert on that. Most bunkers have sand the consistency of Quikrete cement mix. There is a Grass range and a friendly staff but I won't be in a hurry to return.
Thank you for taking the time to review the experience. Our greens have fully recovered from aeration. It's a necessary evil but we help our guests with 20% discounts during the healing process. We've addressed the condition of the bunkers because you weren't the only one who felt they were less than ideal. We hope you can come back to see the improvements. I'm sure you'll agree that our conditions are second to none. Happy Holidays.

Recently sandd and airrated the course
The greens were useless due to the amount of sand. Even a 5 foot put was dicey. Generally the greens are fairly good with a good challenge but with the sand it was not worth the time and frustration. This condition was evident the week before and they only plaid the back nine. Some how the entire course was worse the following week. To bad it is otherwise a fun course to play

Peacock
The course was recently aerated, so the course was in fairly poor condition. If I had known this, I wouldn't have made a tee time. The person in the pro shop did give us a break on the green fees, but we could only play the front 9. We had to play it twice. If you want to play this course, make sure you get all details before you make a tee time.

Great place for moderately priced golf
For a course that is moderate in price,, Peacock Gap is great. The course is mostly flat, so walking is a good option. Not a high end, super challenging course, but the course was in good condition, as were the greens. The weather at Peacock is rarely too warm -- mostly mid 70's. Staff is friendly. Pleasant outdoor snack/bar area. All in all, a very nice golf experience.
Thank you for commenting on your experience. We are only getting better so I hope you can come back in the near future. We also added new golf carts, equipped with GPS. They're awesome!

Challenging greens and all grass range
I liked the natural grass range for warming up, refreshing for this area. Course is in decent shape, not terribly challenging fairways or terrain, but the greens made up for this. They were well protected, undulating, and/or small. Bring your short game!
Pace could have been a little better, and divot cleanup reminders for all would be nice.
Thank you for taking the time to review the experience. We hope you can come back to see the continued improvements. I'm sure you'll agree that our conditions are second to none. Happy Holidays.

NOT WORTH MONEY
The good: beautiful, new facilities. great driving range - hit on grass! Decent conditions, not great.
The bad: Greens not in great shape. $81 to ride. Not worth the money, especially driving from SF where gas and tolls are factored.
Wow - 81 fricken dollars!?!? That is a shame. You can do more home work on this course. I played for $20 during the week - GolfNow super saver - and never during the weekend.
You should try it again. As of 12/29 the greens are in excellent condition.

greens
The greens were super super slow. seems they may be growing out to fix that fungus issue they had, but man it was way slow. they should charge less knowing the greens are about a 3 on the meter.
Thank you for taking the time to review the experience. The greens were on the slow side this summer. We've begun to address a few issues that caused those conditions. Most recently, our greens stimped at 11.1 on the meter, (and that was after it rained.) We hope you can come back to see the improvements. I'm sure you'll agree that our conditions are second to none. Happy Holidays.

Pace of Play Horrible- Over 2.5 for front 9
Pace of play is terrible. There was a group that was holding everyone up. Myself and 2 other groups called the marshall. My group and 3 other groups ended up playing ahead of the slow group. Marshalling was non-existent. This was the 2nd time playing this course in 2 years and both times, pace of play was horrible. Played more like a $40-$45 course. Only played 17 holes and that took close to 5 hours.
Thank you for taking the time to review the experience. I'm sorry that the pace was less than ideal. Our marshals do the best they can to assist players when they've fallen behind our expected pace. We're always evaluating the product and continue to improve where needed. We hope you can come back to see the improvements. I'm sure you'll agree that our conditions are second to none. Happy Holidays.

Sorry to hear that you were unable to finish the round due to the pace of play. Coming out of the storms in December, it takes a while to be able to cut the rough. This likely slowed players down due to the added time looking for balls. Couple that with a full tee sheet and you have a recipe for slower than normal rounds. We strive to keep the pace at 4 hours and 20 minutes on weekends, giving players approximately 15 minutes per hole. I encourage you to visit us again as we consider our pace of play to be among the fastest in the county under normal circumstances. Happy New Year and Happy Golfing.
