Peacock Gap Golf Club
About
Peacock Gap Golf Club extends along the shores of San Pablo Bay, but it sits inland enough to avoid the fogginess of the coast and enjoy consistently sunny weather throughout the year. The course's layout has undergone many renovations over the years that have brought it to its current playability, including a new drainage system, new tee boxes, a reshaping of five of the greens, and relocation of bunkers. The golf course kept the classic features of its original layout though, such as the inviting fairways that still provide a challenge and the tricky greens that deceptively extend past where the player thinks they end. In addition to the course, Peacock Gap has also improved their practice facilities over the years. There is an all-grass driving range, two large practice greens, and a chipping green.

Very layabe
Peacock is a very playable course, the fairways are wide and many holes are challenging. the course conditions here a little wet so your ball got no roll. as a result the course played longer. I would certainly play this course again.
Average course, greens need to recover (Nov2014)
A decent, shortish track that is sneaky challenging. Unfortunately, the greens still seem a ways away from recovering from aeration (Nov'14). Could have used an alert on that. Most bunkers have sand the consistency of Quikrete cement mix. There is a Grass range and a friendly staff but I won't be in a hurry to return.
Recently sandd and airrated the course
The greens were useless due to the amount of sand. Even a 5 foot put was dicey. Generally the greens are fairly good with a good challenge but with the sand it was not worth the time and frustration. This condition was evident the week before and they only plaid the back nine. Some how the entire course was worse the following week. To bad it is otherwise a fun course to play
Thank you for taking the time to review the experience. Our greens have fully recovered from aeration. It's a necessary evil but we help our guests with 20% discounts during the healing process. We hope you can come back to play the healed greens. I'm sure you'll agree that our conditions are second to none. Happy Holidays.

Peacock
The course was recently aerated, so the course was in fairly poor condition. If I had known this, I wouldn't have made a tee time. The person in the pro shop did give us a break on the green fees, but we could only play the front 9. We had to play it twice. If you want to play this course, make sure you get all details before you make a tee time.
Thank you for taking the time to review the experience. Our greens have fully recovered from aeration. It's a necessary evil but we help our guests with 20% discounts during the healing process. Great place for moderately priced golf
For a course that is moderate in price,, Peacock Gap is great. The course is mostly flat, so walking is a good option. Not a high end, super challenging course, but the course was in good condition, as were the greens. The weather at Peacock is rarely too warm -- mostly mid 70's. Staff is friendly. Pleasant outdoor snack/bar area. All in all, a very nice golf experience.
Thank you for commenting on your experience. We are only getting better so I hope you can come back in the near future. We also added new golf carts, equipped with GPS. They're awesome!

Challenging greens and all grass range
I liked the natural grass range for warming up, refreshing for this area. Course is in decent shape, not terribly challenging fairways or terrain, but the greens made up for this. They were well protected, undulating, and/or small. Bring your short game!
Pace could have been a little better, and divot cleanup reminders for all would be nice.
Thank you for taking the time to review the experience. We hope you can come back to see the continued improvements. I'm sure you'll agree that our conditions are second to none. Happy Holidays.

NOT WORTH MONEY
The good: beautiful, new facilities. great driving range - hit on grass! Decent conditions, not great.
The bad: Greens not in great shape. $81 to ride. Not worth the money, especially driving from SF where gas and tolls are factored.
Wow - 81 fricken dollars!?!? That is a shame. You can do more home work on this course. I played for $20 during the week - GolfNow super saver - and never during the weekend.
You should try it again. As of 12/29 the greens are in excellent condition.

greens
The greens were super super slow. seems they may be growing out to fix that fungus issue they had, but man it was way slow. they should charge less knowing the greens are about a 3 on the meter.
Thank you for taking the time to review the experience. The greens were on the slow side this summer. We've begun to address a few issues that caused those conditions. Most recently, our greens stimped at 11.1 on the meter, (and that was after it rained.) We hope you can come back to see the improvements. I'm sure you'll agree that our conditions are second to none. Happy Holidays.

Pace of Play Horrible- Over 2.5 for front 9
Pace of play is terrible. There was a group that was holding everyone up. Myself and 2 other groups called the marshall. My group and 3 other groups ended up playing ahead of the slow group. Marshalling was non-existent. This was the 2nd time playing this course in 2 years and both times, pace of play was horrible. Played more like a $40-$45 course. Only played 17 holes and that took close to 5 hours.
Thank you for taking the time to review the experience. I'm sorry that the pace was less than ideal. Our marshals do the best they can to assist players when they've fallen behind our expected pace. We're always evaluating the product and continue to improve where needed. We hope you can come back to see the improvements. I'm sure you'll agree that our conditions are second to none. Happy Holidays.

nice track
A very pleasant day on the course. The place was empty, the conditions were nice. Eccentric for a Gardener who refused to stop watering the 4th green while we were putting on it, the staff was nice.
Thank you for taking the time to review the experience. Sorry that our staff was a bother on the 4th green. We strive to be "invisible" while we prepare the golf course during play. I'll be sure address the staff so that we are consistent with our goals. We hope you can come back to see the improvements. I'm sure you'll agree that our conditions are second to none. The greens are always a disappointment
Besides the fact that nobody seems to replace their ball marks, the greens are always very slow... All the bumps and shaggy grass makes reading the greens useless! I would not reccomend this course for a good player. The range, restaurant, and new clubhouse all look fantastic. I just wish the course conditions would match!
Thank you for taking the time to review the experience. We agree that the greens never reached their potential this summer. We made some key changes to our maintenance practices and actually stimped out at 11.1 recently. We hope you can come back to see the improvements. I'm sure you'll agree that our conditions are second to none. Happy Holidays.

Pace of play
The Marshall's need to deal with the slow groups. They are riding around in their carts but allow the foursomes to take too long. Not fair for the rest if us.
Thank you for taking the time to review the experience. We agree that slow play is no fun. We've addressed our policies and procedures and even added GPS to our golf carts that helps us monitor the pace of play. We've already made great strides in that department. We hope you can come back to see the improvements. I'm sure you'll agree that our conditions are second to none. Happy Holidays.

Peacock Gap
I hadn't played here for about 15 years so I don't remember much from my last time there. The course was in good shape, the greens were fair and true. One drawback was the restaurant not being open until 8:30 a.m. on a Saturday which was surprising and had I known I would've picked up breakfast on the way. All in all I'd play there again but I don't think $81 to ride on a weekend is a great value especially when you have other courses nearby for cheaper.
Course needs serious help...
No starter managing when people tee off, no marshal on duty. Several times during the round, other golfers skipped holes and jumped ahead causing delays. At one point a single walked on and squeezed himself in the half hole gap between us and the 2 some ahead of us. We called the pro-shop early in the round due to slow play and said they would send a marshal right out, no marshal ever came around. Greens are in decent condition, soft but healthy. The rest of the course looks like it has been abandoned. Dry, weed covered fairways, trash, broken tees covering the tee boxes, etc. They also have a goose problem, along with that comes a goose waste problem. It's a shame, I really hope they don't let this go any further it needs serious attention.
Pros: Practice facilities are decent, cafe / food is good.
Thank you for taking the time to review the experience. I'm sorry that your experience didn't meet your expectations. We're constantly reviewing our procedures to ensure that we offer an exceptional experience. With a new greens keeper at the helm, we've addressed many of the issues that you outlined. We hope you can come back to see the improvements. Just the other day our greens stimped at 11.1

A quiet place to play
A fair course with a friendly staff in a very quiet setting.
Good course in a neat setting
Course has little elevation change but makes good use of creeks and other water features to make the course challenging. If there is wind it is even more challenging. We played starting at 2:30 pm and really had most of the course to ourselves. One group in front of us by a couple of holes and no one behind use for at least 3 holes. Weather was about 73 degrees under clear skies.

short and sweet
peacock gap is a nice short course , the conditions are usually great. It's on the spendy side for me so I only go if I find a deal. For other eastbay golfers who know Willow Park, I find these courses play similarly although the conditions at WP are vastly inferior. The greens at PG this round were firm but receptive to shots from inside 170 yds. The fairways were on the long side about 1.5" but dense and fluffy the dirt below was firm and dry, the fairways showed some signs of recent airification
Thank you for taking the time to review the experience. We keep our fairways just under 1/2" with the exception of times of specialized maintenance procedures. We hope you can come back to see the improvements. I'm sure you'll agree that our conditions are second to none. Happy Holidays.

Peacock on a Friday morning
Good overall value especially during the week. Backs up a bit but if you go out early (before 9 am), pretty sure to have a 4 hour round which is a positive. Course in pretty good shape though would like to see more holders repair their ball marks on the green - I repaired 5-7 per green. Service at restaurant somewhat slow but quality of good / beverage is high for a public facility. Practice area best in Marin.
Thank you for taking the time to review the experience. Our greens have fully recovered from aeration. It's a necessary evil but we help our guests with 20% discounts during the healing process. We've addressed the condition of the bunkers because you weren't the only one who felt they were less than ideal. We hope you can come back to see the improvements.
