Peacock Gap Golf Club
About
Peacock Gap Golf Club extends along the shores of San Pablo Bay, but it sits inland enough to avoid the fogginess of the coast and enjoy consistently sunny weather throughout the year. The course's layout has undergone many renovations over the years that have brought it to its current playability, including a new drainage system, new tee boxes, a reshaping of five of the greens, and relocation of bunkers. The golf course kept the classic features of its original layout though, such as the inviting fairways that still provide a challenge and the tricky greens that deceptively extend past where the player thinks they end. In addition to the course, Peacock Gap has also improved their practice facilities over the years. There is an all-grass driving range, two large practice greens, and a chipping green.

Good to be back.
Used to play Peacock pretty often 10-15 years ago. Was always fun for the price. Then it was bought and re-done. Huge fee increase and ridiculously redesigned greens. Major complaints from the regulars. I played it once and "never again". Was bought again 3-4 years ago. Greens re-done #again# and enlarged/improved grass range and new practice area #although my formerly favorite hole #9 was reduced from par 5 to 4 to make room----bummer#. Saw a good deal on GolfNow because greens punched the prior week, so decided Friday afternoon would be a good opportunity to check out Peacock again #after 8-9 years#. The greens now #re-re-designed# are great--really interesting, and the layout still fair and fun #w/ some added traps around the greens, which I like#. It's a very scenic course w/ many mature oaks/pines etc. A good amount of water too. Teed off 12:30 and finished in 4hrs.15 min. #4-some# before dark. As expected, greens still needed 10-14 days to recover. But, really enjoyed myself. Was like spending time w/ an old friend that's recovered from health issues. I'll be playing Peacock again, now.
Course under maintenance.
Pros:
The buildings are attractive.
Huge all grass driving range.
Course is walkable.
Range Cafe has superb food.
Great happy hour value.
Cons:
Though the booking listing noted aeration in progress, I was disappointed to learn that the back nine was closed.
The front nine greens were still covered with sand and made putting a joke.
Fairways are in really rough shape.
Waited on every shot.
Small bucket(30 balls) was $9.00. Seems a tad pricey for a warmup.
My overall impression was favorable enough that I will play the course again when the greens have healed. I will definitely go back for the locavore food.
Great course
A fun playable course. I am playing with a beginner and its a manageable course with some challenging holes with not a lot of water..
Thank you for taking the time to review your experience. We're glad you enjoyed the round. Be sure to join us on Wednesday evenings for our 9 and Dine for $99. Players enjoy 9 holes followed by a 3-course dinner and bottle of wine. We hope to see you soon.
Don't pass up restaurant.
Drought has challenged this course but pretty good considering. Alway good luck at restaurant after or before round. Good staff, will be back.
Condition of Course
There is a drought in the area. Understandable, however, the area surrounding the greens and tee boxes were rough. And I am not talking long grass. No grass at times just dirt where they are watering. They need to spend time fixing the course around the greens . Will not play there until it will rains again.
Overpriced for conditions
I realize there's a drought but this course is in terrible shape. Dead grass and dirt everywhere, including the fairways and fringes. $80 for this? No thanks.
Why does 11 have a well-kept reasonable fairway if it's all drought-related? Other courses have managed to keep the fairways and greens in decent shape somehow - especially those in the same price range. Peacock Gap - if you're just giving up and using the drought as an excuse, then lower your prices. You were overpriced anyway to start with and now it's ridiculous.

Had a great time. We are going again !!
It's a beautiful place with wonderful wildlife and a sense of serenity.
Food is great!

Good layout but the course is in bad condition
This course has a good layout and great food. But the biggest problem is its condition. The greens are really slow and the fairways are often wet and soggy. I kind of feel like the staff members are pretty shy.
Nice Couse But Overpriced
I like playing different courses. If I can get a good deal I will drive to another course if the savings pay for my gas. I got a good deal here, $25.00 walking rate. I didn't know they had carts as they just show walking rates, I should have called but this is a course you can walk. The practice facilities are nice, good putting greens and a nice driving range. It is a very nice course but there are a lot better near by for a better price. The course is not that difficult so I feel just about anyone can play this course. I stayed and had dinner which was very good. I don't like saying negative things but the waiter kind of ignored me for about 10 minutes, he was nice but needs seasoning, needs to let people know that he knows they are there and he will get to them ASAP.
One thing that really bothered me was the $9.00 for a small bucket of balls, REALLY.
I would recommend this course to a friend only if he got the deal I got. I also would play this course again but only at the price I paid $25.00 walking rate.
Overpriced and not that great...
It continues to amaze me how just because this course is in Marin County, they can charge $64 for a $25 round of golf. Greens are better but still in awful shape, some kind of fungus destroyed them a few years ago. Fairways aren't really maintained, weeds everywhere and just not in good shape. Homes around are probably overpriced, too, just because it's Marin. I'll take my Napa Valley courses for half the price and better weather and greens. Don't bother with this one.
Nice Course Great views
Outstanding golf course without the wind. Good mix of hole difficulty made it challenging yet enjoyable. They need additional restrooms on the course since one in just not enough. Watch for the wind in the afternoon.
Great course and practice facilities
I booked a Hot Deal for only $35 (walking rate), which is more defintely worth the money. This was my second time playing the course and I seem to play really well here. The tee openings can get narrow at some holes, but open up towards the center, so you'll still need some accuracy off the tee. It's not too difficult for beginner golfers, but the sand/water hazards will give the more experienced golfers some obstacles to battle. The greens can are very big and sometimes multi-tiered, so putting can be very challenging. Started at 1:57 and was done by 5:30, not your typical Sunday afternoon pace. I highly recommend this course.
Not the best value.
I like Peacock Gap as the weather is always nicer than in San Francisco. I feel like they charge $10 more than what the course is worth though. Greens are better than other muni courses in the area but would rather play other courses in the area for the price.
fun course
Good course with some interesting holes. Staff was friendly and had an overall good experience. Worth a visit
Nice Walking Course
Good variety of holes. Flat layout which lends itself to walking . We played as a twosome behind some foursomes and still finished in 3.5 hours. Practise area is first rate.
Peacock Gap 2015
The course is in pretty good shape. Very friendly and helpful staff.
The food is really good.
My only objection was slow play and no marshals to help slow golfers along. It was Sunday, but they should definitely
have them on duty. Otherwise, it was good fun
Frost Delay
We had a 2 hour and 15 minute frost delay. Really appreciated the free coffee and also allowing our group to sit in the restaurant/bar area even though it wasn't open yet.
Ridiculously crowded
I've been playing this course a few times this winter and have to say that it is overly crowded. I gave up after 9 holes as it took 2 hours 45 minutes as there were too many players...at one hole three groups were waiting at the tee off! We were told that's because the conditions are not great...but they nevertheless send foursomes out every 9 minutes...that means everyone has to hit the ball every thirty seconds perfectly to finish in 9 minutes (4 players have 8 minutes per hole and need to play perfect pars (4x4 hits = 16 hits...each hit 30 seconds, so 8 minutes...and then one minute to move to the next hole...that's just not possible, sorry!).
Very disappointed about the lack of speed on this course and the overcrowding all day long.
Sorry to hear that you were unable to finish the round due to the pace of play. Coming out of the storms in December, it takes a while to be able to cut the rough. This likely slowed players down due to the added time looking for balls. Couple that with a full tee sheet and you have a recipe for slower than normal rounds. We strive to keep the pace at 4 hours and 20 minutes on weekends, giving players approximately 15 minutes per hole. I encourage you to visit us again as we consider our pace of play to be among the fastest in the county under normal circumstances. Happy New Year and Happy Golfing.

GREAT GREENS
The greens were in excellent condition, especially under our recent weather conditions. I actually can't remember ever playing on the greens in such top condition.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We agree, the greens are the best they've ever been and arguably the best anywhere in the area. Thanks for playing and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Thank you for your comments. We dislike aerification as much as anybody but it is a necessary evil. Apologies too for the lack of communication on the closure of back 9. GolfNow software was not able to convey that message. We'd love to have you back for a round on the house. Contact me when you have a moment. Thank you, Rod Ghilarducci, Head Golf Professional.
