Gave it a last try
I had not played this course in about 10 years as they had priced it out of the range that I thought was acceptable for the overall experience. But a last minute decision to play left me with just a few local courses so I decided to try it again. Was reduced due to an aeration special, but when we showed up they indicated that we would be playing the back nine twice which had not been aerated. I wish I would have know that upfront as I would not have gone along with that but gone somewhere else. So I can't comment on the front nine, but the course is much like I remembered it, fairways and rough was pretty sketchy, with a lot of hazard areas that are not red staked, meaning that if you are trying to play the Rules of Golf, you are having to hit a lot of provisional balls because these areas are very easy to find yourself in. So I have eliminated San Ramon Golf Course from my list of places to play.
Good Conditions
The course was in good condition. Areas around water holes (greens) had too much bird droppings. Nasty!
Got lucky this round
Although I've played this course a lot because it's close to home, I hadn't played it in about a year. That's because the last few times I had played, the rough was so long that it was easy to lose your ball if you hit it three feet off the fairway. I found that very frustrating, and I complained in the Pro Shop. This time the rough had been cut recently so it wasn't too much of a problem. Interestingly, all I saw all day were single players---in my group, and in the group ahead of us.
Short game workout
If you are looking to get your short game on this is a good place to play
Terrible experience
We played this course on a Saturday and I felt the course was in very poor shape. The Greens were bumpy and in pretty bad shape. The biggest disappointment for me was that if was over 100 degrees and there was only one water fountain on the whole course located on hole number 16 and the water was warm. There was nobody driving around with the beverage cart offering water or gatorade or cold beer. Not a very safe and healthy environment to put your customers in. This was the 1st and last time I will play this course.
badback
I have played this course many times. The conditions are pretty good. Overall it is a great value. We had a group of 5 playing in front of us but they seemed to keep up a fairly moderate pace. Will definitely play here again.
San Ramon GC a work in progress
The course is in much better shape now than it has been for about a year. Some spots still over watered, with some bone dry. As always it's best to stay on the fairways as the first cut is pretty thick. Looks like the course will be ready for some good summer rounds. We played a twilight Friday round which was a little slow, but a good value at $21.
Fun, tight and bay area priced
Houses surround course so accuracy is critical. Fun course overall
can't overcome bad course management
I've played SRGC twice over the past two months. I've played it dozens of times over the years. I'm done with it. First time, the day was perfect, the price was right for 18, played the front nine in 75 minutes...owned pace of play...only to make the turn and find the back nine roped off with yellow crime scene tape. No one in the pro shop said anything when I tee'd off...and it wasn't like there was anybody else there. Felt lied to.
Second time was yesterday, may 31....day was perfect, price was right for 18, played the front 9 in 75 minutes...never saw another golfer the entire 9...made the turn and there were six golf carts parked waiting to tee off #10. Apparently no one in the golf shop decides to monitor groups who make the turn and decide for a sit down, leisurely, lunch and think they can re-join their round whenever it suits them. Even for a muni, this is unacceptable. You have Marshall's...manage the round. I left after taking over 45 minutes to play the 10th. With this kind of course management, you should have sold to developers when you had the chance.
Needs help
This course needs some TLC
Playing San Ramon is one thing I was looking forward too, warm to hot weather and a will kept Course. The course was so so with some challenging holes. Greens read true and fairways are to narrow, meaning to much rough.
BUT no drinking fountains pulse there was not one water station.
Your club house is not appealing. The outside patio needs some quality time.
Things are a mess not appealing to the eye.im sorry for this write up, but somebody who cares about the place to work for you.
Disappointing
$78 dollar's for two players I expected more from this Golf course. Water fountains and restrooms would have been nice to say the least. This has been the only course we have played that charged $16.00 a person for golf cart! 32 bucks for golf cart is outrageous!!!!
