subpar
I cheap place to in the Tri-Valley...
They were 30 minutes behind on the tee time and the pace of play was awful. People behind playing up and people ahead complaining that I were hitting to quickly. Maybe we just got stuck between I bad group.
Fun track
Nice course. all the holes run in between houses. Lots of slope around some of the greens. Allot of soft spots where water acclimated.
I hit some great shots that actually ended up in really bad spots.
Greens rolled nice and were in good shape.
Pace of play was nice. We teed off early and they let people out on the back 9 and we got slowed down in the last 4 holes. We still finished in 3.5 hours so not bad.
Course could play harder if the wind started blowing.
Good Place to Play - But Don't Expect Too Much
I have been to San Ramon many times and this is my first review of the course. I got a hotdeal from golf.now and so it was worth it. The course has a good layout. The first hole is interesting. For long hitters, it's a 3 wood or less off the tee. The second hole is 200+ yards from the blue and is a challenging 2nd hole, especially if you haven't warmed up at the driving range. The fairways are green enough, and the rough is thick - especially around the greens. Sand play is not too bad, at least it's not hard pan like Brentwood. The greens are moderately quick and depending on where the pin is, there could be some challenging approach and putts.
Tee boxes - some were not flat and were hitting with the ball above level or below. But not too bad to affect the tee shot that much.
Pace of play for a Sunday was 4+ hrs. We did not have to wait, but we stayed at least a shot behind the group in front of us. Cart person was available throughout the round.
All-in-all, a good value at $29/person w/cart. Though I wish that they would have more water stations throughout the golf course.
Golf with son
My son and I had a wonderful day of golf at San Ramon. We had great weather, got paired up with two nice men (Carl & Paul), and putted on the best greens I've played in years. These greens are fast and true. We both agreed these were the best putting greens we
have played in a long long time. It was fun.
great greens-nice water holes.
Very nice place with great staff! Also nice practice area...thank you!
Great for the average golfer
Had a company meeting/bowling party in Pleasanton.
Then my co-worker and I decided to shoot a round of golf at 3:30pm, better than sitting in traffic back to Napa. Course was in great shape easy to get too. I would recommend this course and I would come back again.
Thanks
Great environment!
Customer service was great. Course was nice, up kept well, and had good scenery. Will play again!
Very good course now
But 9th hall is very difficult .
If you make flet green it will be good course.
San Ramon GC
San Ramon GC has always been a fun course to play but recently they re-did all of the bunkers - moving some, taking some out- with the resulting bunker play greatly improving the play. It's a great course with the improvements!
course is in great shape
The course is looking great! New sand in the bunkers, brand new carts, and the fairways and tee boxes are in better shape than expected. Some areas of ground under repair, but that's to be expected. Conditions much improved over last year.
slow pace no marshall
pace was too slow, golf should not take over five hours to play on a Thursday afternoon. need to marshall slow play
poor customer service
Marshal was rude and actually drove up on a player as he was taking his shot
Great price for construction
I've played here many times but today wasn't the most memorable. I realize with the construction going on it probably couldn't be helped. The center of the course was pretty good but the rough was a bit too tall Maybe with construction, mowing got behind??
Course under construction
The course has been under construction, new sand traps etc. I am a beginner so not a lot to compare it to. I enjoyed the wide open flat fairways and mostly flat greens. I will play here again and look forward to the finished product.
san ramon
The signature 9th hole was being worked on so we didng get to play it and some of the fairway bunkers were also being attended to . The area around green #10 was under repair. With all the workmen and carts and trucks on 5 or 6 holes they should have informed golfers that work is being done and offer a discount or something I would think. But the layout is great and conditions are fair and with all that we had a great round I will be back soon.
Nice Muni type course with some difficulty
San Ramon Golf Course has been around for awhile. The course winds through a neighborhood. The homes are older but the area is nice. The course is long enough to challenge an avid golfer but manageable as well. The toughest holes on the course are nine and eighteen. Nine has an island green and the landing angle is very tough. Eighteen shares the same water hazard but has one open side to miss a shot without finding the watery grave.
Busy golf course
Good value to book this course thought golfnow. Challenging hole at #9 . It's beautiful and fun to play.
Why even charge for the carts?
Played here fairly regularly over the past 5 years and it's starting to slip again. Carts are awful and most holes are labeled "cart path only." Greens were in good shape and finished 18 in 4.5 hours, so that was a positive. But the course Marshall was pretty ignorant. I'd prob not play here again until they have new carts and water the par 5's more.
Very forgiving course to have fun.
It's not a challenging course when you can slice a ball 30 yards off the fairway and the rough is cut to nearly the same length, BUT IT SURE IS FUN! This course plays short and is very forgiving. Difficult to lose a ball. This course also has a great membership rate for those local and or retired. My only gripe, the tee boxes need to be leveled.
