Par for the course at Candler
Course is a hit or miss on quality of fairways and greens. One green (hole 4) is not a "green" but a hole in the barren part of the fairway. Fairways are a little tall so more of rough than fairway,
Speed of play can be very poor and frustrating as you will see "fivesomes" playing a hole. As well as many course jumpers. They jump on at hole 2 or 5. Few groups adhere to the time limit per hole and play till they sink the put.
Always solid!
A good way to downs time with friends or solo!
Not much to review….parking is limited and the course is not well maintained.
I will definitely not be returning! Very good example of you get what you pay for….do better city of Atlanta!
They really need to cut the rough and cleanup the course. The rough was way overgrown, losing balls just off the fairway is no fun. The tee boxes are a mess. And if you're going to let dogs on the course make the owners pick up the dog poop.
Good for money
Greens need to be fixed up. For the price, it is great. Michael is very kind as well.
Needs to be better
The layout is good for a short walking course. But the grounds are just not good at all. It is overgrown with weeds and bushes and several of the greens are just not really playable. Course has gone down since the last time I played it. The City can do better than this. Tee boxes are generally horrible also. Even for the cheap price you expect more than this. Do better.
Well-Spent
Not gonna' lie--the course is in rough shape. Candler's never been known for perfect conditioning, but the tee boxes were the worst I've seen them and they hadn't mown the fairways--shaggier than an old sheepdog. But listen, if you're going to Candler for pristine golf, you're missing the entire point. It's one of the best golf experiences in Atlanta. Just find a tuft of green, place your ball down, hit it, and follow it up and down Candler's graceful hills. 75 minutes well-spent.
Playing in a cow pasture
It was like playing in a cow pasture. The course was full of weeds. Grass was not mowed. I lost more balls yesterday than I have playing my entire career! Will not be going back.
Cheap course, golfer right of passage
I paid green fees of $13. Super cheap. I also may have overpaid by about $12.50. Not we’ll maintained. It would have been nice if someone mowed the fairways this season.
What happened?
It hurts to leave this review bc in the not too far past, I loved this course. Two-three years ago this was your traditional muni 9-hole walking golf course that was cared for just the right amount. Today it’s a shell of what it once was. Seems like the city just stopped putting in an average amount of resources into this course. I love that the City keep amenities like this affordable so everyone has access but the course conditions today make it unplayable. It’s that bad. I hope it returns to its previous condition and if so, I’ll return. But I have no desire to go back if it stays in the shape it’s in.
