Greens in great shape & bunkers
One of the most solid public courses in metro Atlanta. Greens are in great shape. Tee boxes are acceptable and bunkers are well maintained. Geography makes for poor draining after a rain but not much they can do about that. I suspect I will play it a fair amount during dry periods.
Wide open. Great round
Had a blast. Great pace of play and wide open! Fun course!
Great greens
I was pleasantly surprised by the superior quality of the greens at this decidedly public course. They rolled quite true! Shockingly, the bunkers are top tier and well-tended!
Winter golf
Greens and fairways had been watered overnight, and although there was almost no standing water, the fairways had little bounce and the greens were extremely slow. So, it was like playing the course with an additional 1000 yards added to it. Conditions for winter golf were expected.
Terrible all around. Course not taken care of. Greens and fairways have zero drainage, so tons of huge puddles of water all over the place even 2 days after rain. There were so many drains that you could hit the ball in the middle of the fairway and it would get sucked up into a 10', 6" deep puddle...where you couldn't see or find the ball. All the cart paths broken up and full of water. Marshall who had no idea what was going on. Poor signage. I could go on.
Challenging course, bring extra balls
As a beginner to intermediate golfer, this course was very challenging. Some shots that are a few inches out of the fairway were hard to find. The rough is a little too high for my likeness. It’s majority par 4’s that require a controlled fade or draw off the tee box. I would play it again because of the price.
Could be so much better
The rough is insane. Cut the grass. If you roll off the fairway, good luck finding your ball. If you find the ball, good luck being able to hit it farther than 10 feet. The rough just swallows the ball. This course shouldnt play like Pinehurst. Also, not sure if they have marshalls, but there were plenty of groups taking their sweet time with zero consideration for the rest of the course. Hitting mulligans, laughing and joking, having a good ol time while folks were waiting to tee off behind them or for them to clear the green. There’s no reason a 9am tee time on a Friday in Atlanta should take 4.5+ hrs…
Gave it another try
After bypassing this course for a few years due to terrible conditions, we returned to find it in fairly good shape. At least this round I could actually put a tee in the ground on a tee box and didn't have to putt through brown spots. Overall I am pleased and will return.
