Super value!
My 3rd Golf Now course in the Atlanta area. This was the nicest course by far. Greens were in great shape. Good challenging course layout. Highly recommended - I’ll definitely be back!
Great condition
Great condition, difficult rough and slow greens make for a good test of golf skills.
Lots of doglegs and creek carries
It’s been many years since I last played Sugar Creek and overall I’d say the redesign/refurbishment is a hit. Still plenty of doglegs and forced carries across the meandering creek. Pretty tight too if you tend to hit wayward drives. The greens were large, soft, and a bit slow, but very smooth and well maintained. While there were some rough patches and bare areas on some tees, overall the course was very playable, especially following floods from hurricane Helene, then totally dry conditions over the last month or more. I didn’t try it out, but the driving range looked fine and the carts were nice too.
Good for city owned course
Good value, nicely kept and maintained. Service was very good, above par.
Overall good course
The only items keeping this course from a 5-star rating are the bare spots along and near the cart paths and the speed of the greens - too slow. Rough could be cut 1" more, as all balls settling in the rough are difficult to find. Overall it is a good test of golf.
I played two weeks after the hurricane came through so take that into consideration. Carts on cart path only which was terrible for golfing. Course was just starting to recover from flooding. Conditions on the front nine were not good due to flooding, back nine was better. Greens were super slow. Fairways needed to be cut but I guess they were waiting for the course to dry out more.
Almost Excellent Conditions
Conditions are the best the course has had in many years. Unfortunately, the super fast greens were so dry and firm that full iron shots that landed on the greens bounced 10-15 feet in the air without stopping until they came to rest in the thicker rough behind the greens. Hitting a good shot that ends up in the rough is frustrating at the least. All the course needs is water.
Great course
This is by far one of the best golf courses in Atlanta area.
