Nice course. A "placement" course. Not too long and not too short.
Sugar Creek is not a long course in distance, but what it lacks in distance it makes up in strategic placement. There are a couple of long holes that require distance and placement but it is not too challenging for the beginner or too easy for the advanced player. The course is in good shape. There were only 2 greens that had bumpy problems near the hole placement.

Staight is good here
Course condition were just fair, but the track is definitely a challenge. Some of the fairways on the front nine are no wider than 50 or 60 yrds. Trees down both sides. Hit in there and it's just like giving up a shot.
Back opens up, ..a little. A lot of dog legs, which are fun.
Staff was friendly.
Good test of your skills. If you can score well and keep it in play here, you can play anywhere.
Very very wet
The course was so flooded it was not an enjoyable round.
Lots of Water
It rained the day before but I had paid for my round online so I went out to see what the course was like. Nice layout. The greens were covered with unrepaired ball marks. Very playable course. I enjoyed the round although there was water puddles everywhere. I'll definitely play Sugar Creek Golf Course again. Hopefully the greens will be in better shape.
You get what you pay for
Just dusting off the golf clubs and getting in to the swing of things so for the money, it was ok.
Not for someone wanting to have a serious round though.
Greens were bumpy and fairways were mostly under water.
If conditions stay this way, you would need a four wheeler to get around the course as you are constantly dealing with large pools of standing (and stinky) water and mud ALL throughout the course.
This Course was Terrible
The tee boxes were awful and the greens were worst. and the drainage after the rain from the night before made playing even more miserable.
Great course for the money
Got the Hot Deal on this course and it was a pleasant surprise. Great course for the intermediate golfer. Relatively short but we played blues and there are enough hazards (creeks, etc.) to keep it interesting. Would definitely go back.
This is course improving !
The new management team has taken some long term steps to bring this course up to playable standards. With continual course maintainence, regular customers and new clients will see the fruits of a course that has suffered in the past from poor course maintaintence. I look forward to seeing the future improvements to the course and some work in the area of clubhouse amentities ( cleaner bathrooms, staff and food and beverage fare).
ICE ICE Baby
ICE on the front 9 and hard mud on the back 9. The course was a great buy for $18 with cart, but that day was overcast and in the low 30s. The greens are not in good shape at all, but again, I hope that changes when the weather starts to warm up. Had a tough time at it especially chipping because it was hard to get the club under the ball on top of hard ground. So I look forward to another deal come Spring.
Rough shape
I would only recommend golfing here if you get a really low price like the hot deal. The greens are in rough shape and the whole course is in pretty rough shape.
I'll be back in the summer to give this course another chance.
Ehh. It's ok.
Course conditions were rough. Overall, 3 out of 5. I wouldn't come back.
Sugar Creek
Great value for the money, great place to practice and get a solid round of golf in.
Potential
The greens are in bad shape. The bunkers have no sand. There is casual water in some fairways. challenging layout and the price is right.
Best Muni you will play
it is very challenging. requires shot placement with the various creeks and elevation changes. The fairways are narrow. As a intermediate player I throughly enjoyed the challenge.
good, bad, and ugly
The good; i only paid 20.00 to play on a sat morning at 9:40 on what is normally a fairly nice course, especially for the money. The greens are very nice and in excellent shape.
The bad; the course apparently does not drain at all. Very wet and sloppy, and pretty sure it hadn't rained in at least three days. It did seem better on the back and that the front was in a lower lying area. Not the best layout.
The ugly; It took two of us to play 13 holes in nearly 5 hrs. We left after that as it was only getting worse, and we were sitting longer and longer between shots. I know we aren't paying much to play here, but that is just ridiculous. You have a marshal, maybe he could do a little more than just sit in a booth and check receipts. How hard is it to ask people to speed it up a little, their pace of play is to slow.
Great deal for money, just make sure it hasn't rained at all recently and that it's on a weekday if you play here.
