Forest Hills Golf Club

No public course and very few private courses in the Aiken-Augusta have better greens. Greens are smooth, fast and consistent from green to green. Don’t believe the complaints about unfair undulations. In Aiken in particular, the greens are far more undulating and very grainy at most places. At Forest Hills, the ball goes exactly where you aim it and strike it. No surprises. During Masters Week, the shop told us the greens were rolling 12.5. I’d say the greens run 11-12 on most days. Of course I like quick greens AO to me they are perfect. Some tee boxes are being resodded. Otherwise tees and fairways are in great shape. So are roughs and sand traps. What I like most is the course generally attracts a better caliber player. Not necessarily ability-wise but golf awareness. No tee shirt and denim wearing hooligans like you see at lesser courses.

Well maintained. No bathrooms other than the clubhouse so plan on peeing in woods

Overall the golf course was in good shape. Some tee boxes need grass / water / fertilizer to get the sod to grow.

Overall played in just over 4.5 hours, utterly slow for a Saturday afternoon with the course wide open. Groups ahead wouldn’t let anyone play through- and they thought they were Bryson on Sunday at Augusta. Literally had a tape measure to see who was further away. Called the pro shop and the kid said they were understaffed to address the slow play.

Greens were recently punched- even if they weren’t, Arnold Palmer redesign destroyed the Ross greens. Added too much slope (was told AP Design had to come back and tone down the greens). Course doesn’t flow at all. When you need signs on a course to say which hole is which, it is not laid out well.

Fairways had many bare spots- I’ve played on better municipal courses that cost $15/round. For $55 and a college course, Forest Hills is a joke.

Zero water on the course. Heading into summer months, a health and safety hazard.

Save your time and money. Go play literally any other course in the area and you’ll have a better time with much better value.

Very nice course, staff and members are the friendliest people. Played 18 and want more they were happy to let me play another round at very reasonable price. Meet two members on second round of the day, they were great people. I am visiting from TN and have played several different courses and Forest Hills is by far the greatest experience, great job guys would recommend to anyone.

Course conditions are great. Some work in progress on a few tee boxes but nothing impacting play. Greens are consistent.

The course is always in A-1 shape. I highly recommend this course to anyone looking for a challenge short or long. The putting is always challenging no matter the season. If you think you want to play golf, play a little golf or play golf professionally, this course is for you.

I had played Forest Hills previously, and was looking forward to playing the course again. I had a 10:08 tee time, and was paired with a nice couple from Pennsylvania. We were on time teeing off, with multiple groups in front of us. The fairways were almost greened up completely, and the greens were in great shape, firm and fast. For sure, the worst part of the day was the slow play of the foursome in front of us. They spent an inordinate amount of time on the greens. I timed them on the third hold as we were waiting to hit our shots from the fairway. This group took EIGHT minutes on the green. They were even worse on the ninth hole taking TEN minutes to putt out. As they reached the twelth green, the group in front of them was teeing off on hole seventeen. They were FIVE holes behind. There was no ranger to push them along nor allow faster groups to play through. We finally drove through them on fifteen, and played the last three holes in 25 minutes. Been playing golf a long time, and have never seen a group this far behind. One time there were three groups waiting to play the same hole behind this slow group. They were on a 4:45 or 5:00 hour pace. Would still recommend playing here, and just chalk this up as an isolated incidence.
