Wonderful day of golf.
This is one of the older courses in the area. It is well maintained. A bit challenging but fun, even for a mid-handicapper.
This course is well designed and very playable.
First, the course was manicured very well. Tees, fairways and greens were in very good shape. Greens were receptive to incoming shots and putts rolled true. The rough made the play a bit slower due to the condition that you almost had to be on top of the ball to find it. Not complaining about the difficulty of recovery (after all, you did hit it in the rough), I am just a guy who is hyper-sensitive about keeping the round moving. I like the design because all your hazards are "in front of you" and easily seen. Again, this promotes more rapid paced rounds and better shot planning. The tees are designed to allow you to "bite off as much as you want to chew", and give you a challenge at multiple skill levels. This course has already ascended to my top ten courses to play if given a choice.
The course was in good condition considering all the rain.
I used GolfNow to book a tee time and it worked great. Cart included and I spent about 30 seconds in the clubhouse and was headed to my cart. The. Course looked good considering all the rain we have received. Even all the improvements to the parking lot should be noted. Staff from the starter to the ladies in the grill were real nice. Definitely recommend.
Classic course
I have played this course since I was a kid and, despite the lengthening over the years, it's still a great track. Classic layout, great greens, and challenging (but fair) pins make this course great for any golfer. Have fun!
Fun Course
Picked this course because of the history, enjoyed it for the challenge. This was a really nice course not to challenging for the intermediate golfer. I picked an after 5 tee time, but was able to get on the course about 30 minutes earlier then my scheduled tee time. Course starts off with a nice dogleg right and just kept getting better. Some really challenging par 3s and very accessible par 5s. Overall a very good course at a very reasonable price.
Friendly greeting. Course was well manicured from tee to green. Some areas were restricted due to effects of recent heavy rains. Great value.
Keep it in fairways which are wide and receptive. A few errant shots into the deep rough on a couple holes will make you wish you had. A few areas cannot be cut due to recent heavy rains and although greens are very puttable, there are a few stressed areas and they were recently lightly sanded. Overall a very nice layout and enjoyable play.
For all kind of golfers.
Fun to play, well maintained, centrally located, family oriented and a friendly young staff.
Pretty and challenging; in decent shape.
Forest Hills is a pretty course with rolling hills and nice old trees. It doesn't look that challenging, but the slopes and fast greens make it tricky in terms of strategy. The tee boxes were in rough shape, but the fairways and greens were nice. However, you should be prepared to lose a ball or two in the rough just off the fairway. The rough added to the challenge, but it was annoying to see your ball bounce to a spot five yards off the short grass only to lose it and have to drop. Overall though, it was pretty cheap, pretty open, pretty interesting, pretty challenging, and pretty.........pretty.
Considering
Given the record setting amount of rain we've had, Forrest Hills is in remarkable shape. Staff was working on that course all day. It's not an easy course because of the hills but mostly, those lightening fast, hilly, curvy greens. Then again, that's why the national college champs play there.
Great course. Mediocre staff.
I really lke this course and would play it more if it were not for the slow pace of play (often over 5 hrs) and the bad attitude of the staff. Always smiles from them, but what they say is never oriented towards the customer. The deal I got through golfnow made it worthwhile. Outstanding deal!!
Good course with ups and downs
This course was very open and allowed for a considerable degree of driving accuracy flaws and mistakes, as well as to recover from such mistakes.
The multiple bunkers and sharp green contours added the necessary amount of challenge needed to improve game performance on any course.
Fun Course and a Great Value!
My girlfriend and I played the course on Memorial Day and had a great time. Course was wide open with low pressure, making it enjoyable for both of us. Greens being aerated was the only downside, but that didn't keep us from having a great time.
Greens aerated and sanded
Recently they had greens aerated. Fairways have also had some work. Tee boxes hard they need rain otherwise, course was fine recently they upgraded the clubhouse and area around it looks nice
are the challenge.
Beautiful old course in very good condition. The fairways are open with few hazards. Bunkers were soft and very playable.
After getting your ego stroked on the fairways however, the greens presented the real challenge. Most of them had a table feature that almost always came into play. They were being aerated at the time I played. Other reviews indicate that they are usually fast so either way, your putting will determine your final score here. Groups were sent off too close together. They only let 2 minutes between groups which causes an immediate backed-up feel to play even though we played to pace. Good play for the money. Nice people. I'd golf there again.
This is a very challanging course
The staff was very friendly and courteous. The course was in excellent conditions. Putting greens was like at the Masters, fast.
lightning fast greens
this course is in very good condition, but that is no surprise it is always in great shape. the only negative about the course is the pace of play. if you go there plan on having a five hour round. i really dont understand why they don't have a marshall on the course.
One of my favorites. Beautiful old course.
Great deal with GolfNow. I Love playing this course. It's beautiful and has a lot of history due to the fact that it's almost
100 years old.
Nice course.
Course was in pretty good shape. Not a lot of trouble on the course; it's pretty open and only has water on a few holes. The greens are the golf course's only defense. They are fast and very undulating. Probably top 3 fastest greens I've played on in 15 years of golf. With that said, if you can putt, you'll have a great time!
Good course for a great price
In good condition at a great price. I hope to play again soon
Nice Place to golf, very friendly!
The greens were super slick and quick .....be ready to putt...if you think you hit it to soft it is usually right speed.....
Bermuda was dorment when I played....but you better be able to strike the ball solid...
You will love it and you played a course much like the National....
