About

Mountain views can be found on all 18 holes at Butternut Creek Golf Course, located in north Georgia. Elevation changes, mounds and undulating greens are all part of the challenge on the Bill Watts-designed golf course. No two holes are alike and water comes into play on 13 holes. With four to six tee boxes on every hole, the golf course can play as short or as long as you like. Butternut Creek is owned and operated by the Union County Recreation Department.

Super Nice Muni

The course has a lot of elevation change. Had played a nearby course the day before with a lot of elevation change, but that was mostly downhill. At Butternut, there were several challenging uphill holes. Not a long course, but some holes are fairly tight, notably on the back nine, so it was smart to sometimes keep the driver in the bag.

Conditions were really good from tee to green. Employees were really friendly as well. All in all, a very good golf experience.

First time on Butternut. Wow, what a very hilly golf course.

Either down hill shot or up hill shot.

Most shots up hill make you play two extra clubs.

Fun track

I will never try to walk this course, but by cart, this is a great track to play. The elevation change was extreme and fun for making challenging shots. Good value and I wish I lived closer to play regularly

Awesome round!

Loved the course layout from start to finish. Lots of hills and blind shots which made it fun and very challenging. The greens, tee boxes, and fairways were in great shape, you can see the maintenance crew puts in the work there. Definitely will be back!
