A Very Good Course
Played my second round here and would recommend this course to anyone seeking a moderately challenging round of golf. Greens in great shape and with the exception of a couple of fairways severely damaged by this past winter extreme cold, the course is in excellent condition. A good value and enjoyable experience.
Great layout with challenges for every player
It was the first time I had played this course in 10 years. Really like this layout with the challenge quality and mixture of hard and easier shot requirements. Great movement of the terrain and the greens are a challenge. They were slower than I am used to but you will rarely have a flat putt and if they speed them up they could be very difficult to putt. Five par 3's and five par 5's. The par 3's for me from the blue tees required everything from a gap wedge to a 4 iron. Good range of holes. The five par 5's had two that could have been reached in two shots yesterday and three that were definitely three shot holes. It is a development golf course but is not squeezed by houses on both sides of the holes as the houses are around the course not on each hole.
Poor Conditions
The condition of this course was awful. Greens were not consistent and the fairways were bare. For what they charge the course should be in excellent shape. Too many good courses at a better price in better condition in the Atlanta area to waste time and money on this one.
Good spot
This course was a treat to play the staff was very cordial. The course was damp from the previous night rain also fertilizer had been spread on the course which added to the mess on your clubs and golf balls but I still enjoyed the layout and would play here again.
The freeze got the grass
Woodmont experienced grass damage from the freeze but is coming back nicely. Not a bad round for spring. The greens were in excellent shape but the fairway shots were a little thin and occasionally muddy. Stay in the first cut to have a good lie.
Not worth the drive and heads up for 5 SOMES
In all my years of traveling and playing golf I have never been placed behind a group of 5 guys ( on a Saturday morning ) that were obviously not too concerned with rate of play. Our group had to wait 10 minutes per shot and even longer on the box. The rangers response was that members have certain privileges etc and kind've laughed it off. To top it off they had a 6th guy join in on the back 9 but fortunately was only part of the cheering squad. I have played all the Atlanta area and have never had anywhere close to the experience playing at Woodmont. I will never make the hour drive and waste $70.00 on that course again. I guess visitors have certain rights as well.
Excellent course & staff
Great value. Good conditions. Friendly staff. Fair course for all levels and a nice range to warm up. Always a must play when in town.
Relaxing day of golf.
I thoroughly enjoyed playing at Woodmont. The course is in excellent condition, especially the greens. The greens roll real well and fast. My group also enjoyed eating at the clubhouse after we played. It's nice to play at a course that is as well taken care of as Woodmont.
Great place to play!!!
Woodmont provided great playing conditions! The maintenance staff has done a great job with the course, and giving the golfer excellent turf quality! The pace of play was a bit behind but it just seems that it got over booked. But even though it was a bit slower the conditions made up for it! The greens rolled true and the fairways were tight. The overall experience was great and I would recommend it to anyone
Fun golf course to play.
I have played Woodmont 5-6 times and always enjoy the course. The course is challenging for me, but also very fair from the white tees. The greens are fairly large and normally in good shape and putt very true. The course has five par 3s and five par 5s, which I like. and all of which are a reasonable distance from the white tees. I have parred all of them when I played well, and I have double bogeyed all of them when I played poorly. I will definitely continue to play at Woodmont on occasion and whenever I can get a bargain rate from GolfNow.
Great courses!!
We really enjoyed the golf courses there. Fairway and green are well managed. People, playing there, are friendly. However, if you are running out of time, I would rather recommend other clubs because staffs don't care about playing time so that you can be delayed during the play very often.
One of North Georgia's Best
One of my favorite courses. Conditions were not as good as usual due to recent aeration of greens and somewhat wet fairways. Still a great golf course.
Best Daily Fee Course in the State
In every aspect (course maintenace, pace of play, food, hospitality), Woodmont is the best daily fee course in the state. In fact, it's nicer than lots and lots of private clubs. Tip of the cap to the maintenace crew!
This course is well maintained
This course is very straight forward. No extremely bad hazards. Staff is very friendly and courteous. We were a twosome and had a threesome in front but was not delayed or pushed by the twosome behind us. I am a senior beginner and found the course very fair with some difficult holes and some not so difficult. Look forward to playing here again.
Good for this time of year.
I have played this course many times and have always thought highly of it. With all the rain, ice, and snow the course was wet but not water logged. The greens were good and rolled true for this time of year. This course has consistantly been above average any time I have played it in comparison with other public courses in the area.
Just a beautiful coarse and fun to play!
Woodmont is one of my favorite places to play. The course has challenges but is not overly difficult and is extremely well maintained! The service and the food is also exceptional and I hope to play here many more times!
Great Track.....
Robert Trent Jones layout that is a true test of golf from any of the tee locations. Greens have a lot of undulations which makes hitting the correct approach shot a must.A bit out of the way, but well worth it!!
Gem of a RTJ layout with wicked tricky greens with pace!
The signature to this outstanding Robert Trent Jones layout is that just about EVRY hole slopes left to right, so while you do tend to hit driver most times on the par 4's and 5's, you have to PLACE it well or you have a tough 2nd. The greens are fantastic but very tricky. As it was my first time here, reading them was tough/ I must have missed 10 3 footers! The par 3's are gorgeous. Played the "Jones" tees - mix of blues and whites - which a lot of clubs ought emulate. Fantastic day out and great value at $49 with a GolfNow pre-pay!
