On the 14th tee. Kind of a blind drive over a hill. Fun hole. Photo submitted by u000006907181 on 06/28/2019

Great for the money!
I would definitely recommend this course to friends of mine. A few of the greens were a bit worn, but other than that, a great overall experience.
the greens are looking great.
They lost there greens last year , have replaced the front nine and they are great. They are going to redo the back in the spring. It is wde fairly wide open and forgiving. They have removed quite a few trees around the course to help with the greens recovery.
Going to be nice
I have played this course a ton. It is a great value. They have done some work on the course recently to spruce it up. It will be spring time before you can really see the work but it is leaps and bounds from the first time I played here. The greens are rough now but will be great in the spring time.
The course needs help.
The new front 9 bent burmuda greens are a great improvement. Buy a new mover and perhaps roll the greens. I sure would like to have a real tee box at #5. The back nine rye has not taken and need to be replaced next Spring. I do not enjoy putting in sand box. Forget putting trough a mine field.
Great Day golfing.
My wife and I played here for the first time. The staff was spot on helpful and friendly. There's a small restaraunt that had some great smelling burgers, If I go back without my wife ill try one. I'm not supposed to eat red meat. As for the course, the carts are in great shape. Being Nov the grass was a bit short and dry in spots but that was to be expected. The course plays well with some difficult holes and some easy holes. I will be back and I would recommend this course for a fun outing.
Real Mountain Golf
Took my son-in-law and he commented that every green was raised. Stay on the fairway and there are no problems - get off near the OB and good luck.
Country Land
The layout was decent with some nice elevation changes and dog-leg lefts/rights mixed through out. I thought it was pretty short playing from the backs on most. I would say that over half of the greens were just terrible, and by this I mean more than half of the putting surface was just sand and/or scalped with no consistency. However, the fairways and tee boxes were in decent shape. They definitely needed the ranger to push the field a little bit. I don't remember every hole, but hole 12 comes to mind, its 80 or 90 yards from the back tees with what looks like a sewage run-off that you hit over on to a sandy green that has a plastic fence as a retaining wall just off the back fringe. There is NO WAY that I would ever pay over $15 to play here again. Nor would I recommend this course to any of my friends no matter what their skill level is. This course needs a lot of attention, because there are too many other courses in the area that are in much better shape in the same price range.
Very pretty course with lots of hills
The views are amazing when you get to the top of the hills. The course is challenging as there is not much room for error. It's very peaceful as it's out in nowhere land; like playing in a forest. I'll be back to play again.
Course in good shape. Lots of work being done to bring course up to snuff.
Greens are much better. Fast pace of play. Attention being given where it is needed.
Relaxing and forgiving course, a little slow play
Very much enjoyed playing this course and will be back soon.
Nice,fun course
Lots of hills and valleys fun course, greens are better than the last time i visited.
Not a five star course but not a dump!!
I have played this course maybe 4-5 times this year and it has become one that i look for the hot deal to play because playing it for $20 dollars and under i think is a heck of a deal. Yes i have played this course many times now and i do not want to sound like i am trashing it, i just do not think it is worth the price of a 3 star or up course but i do think it is a very fun course to play and a good score can be shot here
Quite possibly the worst course in north GA.
I paid $15 as a hot deal on golfnow and this was by far the biggest waste of money. Granted, I have found prices this low before at great course in the past using this website. I'm extremely thankful for golfnow and these low prices but typically the courses I pick from on this site are awesome. You guys at golfnow do a great job!! And in no way is this review a reflection in you. This one however was awful.
Don't bother reading the yard markers, the scorecard or asking, you'll get a different yardage number every time. The greens were literally some of the worst I've ever seen that weren’t recently aerated. Forget sticking the greens because the sandy surface on every green makes it close to impossible. 30% grass 70% sand. Absolutely awful. On one green there was a bunker directly to the right and you could tell that plenty of people have previously hit out of the bunker because the sand that was sprayed from their shot was building up on the fringe/green directly in front of the trap. They clearly haven’t been maintaining the greens from quite some time. You can’t expect to score on your short game with greens like this. The sand traps were absolutely awful and shouldn’t even be out there. They were almost up playable to an extent. I value my clubs and when I same rocks the size of baseball buried in the traps I knew from that point forward if I got in a trap on this course I was pulling my ball out to save my club the ding. It literally had sand that hadn't been turned over in months; they barely had sand in them at all. I would've taken a picture of the greens as well but I was unaware I could post pictures in the review and only got a picture of one the trap because I wanted to send it to a buddy due to a relevant conversation about traps the day before. Fairways were hard as a rock. You couldn’t take a solid divot. The play was awful. The people that play here seem to be your typical mom and pop folks which is cool, whatever, not really my thing. But it took us and hour to play 4 holes behind a 4some that clearly wasn't going to let us go by. We ended up having to skip the 9th hole all together to pass them and got a look of disbelief like “what are you doing?” I was with one other person and they clearly saw us waiting on several occasions but just never would let us play through. The staff isn’t that great either. As we made the turn we went inside the club house to grab a snack, go figure, the employees were playing cards not doing a thing. This is a ridiculous way to waste payroll knowing that the golf course looks the way it does. If you have enough disposable income to allow your employees to sit around and play cards on the clock on a Sunday afternoon then there's no excuse for your course to look like it's under construction all the time...there are silk fences up which would leave you to believe that it is but I really don’t think that’s the case. To top off the employees, we finished our round and I drew the short straw to drop off the cart. I pulled around to the cart area and don't see a sign, so I did the logical thing and pulled it as close to the entrance of the cart barn as I could and started to walk away. As I was walking a 70 year old man (apparently the cart attendant) with a cane yells out to me, "Is that where you're going to leave that cart!?!?" My only response was. "Until you get a sign that tells your customers otherwise, yes, this where I'm parking it". Typically I wouldn't smart off like that but this guy was the straw that broke the camels back at this place. Completely unorganized. I don't know if management is aware of how golf courses are typically ran but cart attendants get paid to handle the carts and definitely not paid to smart off to paying customers.
I know this is a little lengthy but if you're like me and looking for bargains from time to time to cut the high cost of hobby like golf, you definitely want to know exactly what you're getting. I don't want readers to think I'm some snooty golfer because that isn't the case at all. I just really hate when courses give false impressions with beautiful pictures on their website or as a caption photo to lure customers in and you get there and it’s not all how to picture portrayed the course. When people don't get the word out about how awful or great courses actually are people fall victim to this false advertising. This was an awesome price for a round of golf which is why I took the offer but I definitely got a $15 round of golf. I really can't say enough about this experience and how awful it was. I really hope that an employee or someone who knows the management party of this course can show this to them because if you really expect to get repeat customers that aren’t your mom and pop type this type of facility won’t cut it. Best wishes to those who choose to learn the hard way, that saying "you get what you pay for" is clearly the message here.
Challengiing, diamond in the ruff.
Don't let the yardage on the course fool you. Its a very challenging golf course. The staff member told us they lost the greens in July, so the front greens were Bermuda and the back greens were bent grass. It looked like the back greens were topped dress about a week ago, but they were still a challenge. I will definitely play this course again. Price is right.
Great Views of the North Ga Mountains
CGC is a great value for the money and the time it takes to play the course is always under 4hrs.I have played this course many times over the last 2 years and always enjoy the scenic views and pace of play. The Pro's- numerous elevation changes, mountain views, new greens, maintained fairways, new carts, difficult smaller greens challenge all golfers. The Cons- most of the sand traps lack sand specifically on the back 9, not all of the new greens have matured/sandy and light on grass, the bathroom midway is in need of cleaning and restoration, and the clubhouse lacks a Great Hot Dog at the turn. Cheap costs and friendly staff keep me coming back, even though it is a 38 mile drive for me.
fun course
short course....narrow fairways some greens elevated. new golf carts, back nine has just been reseeded with winter rye and the front nine just redone with bermuda. super friendly staff
Nice little Course to play.
First time played the Course. Just a nice little Country Course but had some really good holes. Don't expect a top ten Course but if you just want to get out and play a Round at decent cost, this is the place. I shall return.
