Good course.....bad pace
The course is in really good condition considering the season. The greens are really fast for the season. The only true complaint is the pace of play as the course was really backed up with little urgency based on what I was able to see.
WestPines
The staff are fantastic, very helpful and knowledgeable about the course. Enjoyed the layout of the challenging course. Greens were fast and in great condition for the time of year.
Waiting for spring conditions
The course is very good for winter conditions, but not great. When the grass starts growing again, the course should be worth 5 stars.
Winter conditions
Overall condition is very good for this time of the year. Since there is no grass growth, expect to have thin lies everywhere. Greens need to be mowed (or rolled) more often to smooth out the slight hills and valleys that effect the roll of the putt.
OK winter golf
The course is in overall good shape. The only issue that could be improved would be rolling the greens. While they were fast (as usual) they were not as smooth. Slight, tiny hills and valleys seemed to deflect putts especially around the cup.
Fun course
As a new golfer I enjoyed this course. This time of year the pace is slow which is good for a newbie golfer. Staff and other players are courteous. Course has some challenging holes. Really want to stay out of the bunkers. Very tough bunkers on this course.
Could be a 5-Star
The two things keeping this course from a 5-Star rating are the rough and the speed of the greens. The rough needs to be cut shorter so balls don't disappear, and the greens need to be cut a little higher to slow them down. Both items add extra time to the round and back up play. (Our group of 4 players had 20 3-putts combined. Usually, on slower greens that number would be 5-6.) Otherwise, everything else is excellent.
Great course value
If I had to be really picky I’d say the pace of play. However, the time of year when leaves are down makes the golf ball hard to locate at times and causes delays.
Pace of play could be better
The only things keeping this course from a 5-star rating are that balls disappear in the rough which greatly affects the pace of play. Everything else is excellent.
