West Pines Golf Club

Pace of play could be better, but good conditions overall make it an enjoyable round of golf. The greens had a light dusting of sand which barely affected putts on the greens.

Conditions are excellent for greens, fairways, rough (challenging), and traps. The only thing missing was a ranger moving groups along with open space in front of them. A round pushing 5 hours on a Thursday shouldn't happen.

Course is in great shape greens are fast and undulating. Pace of play outstanding we completed in less than four hours. The price was outstanding got a hot deal be prepared. If you haven't played it before it's a very hilly course overall had a great experience want to thank the clubhouse staff.

The two folks that checked me in were incredible. They were kind, personable and check in was a breeze. Everything from that point in was horrible.

I enjoy playing as a single. I love the space I’m 6’3 and 200+ lbs. As a Black gay woman, I’ve had some terrible experiences being paired up with some unpleasant folks. So for safety reasons, unless I’m with a friend of mine, I’m going to pay to ride solo OR book at another course that gives me that option.

Now to West Pines, I check-in, receive cart keys, purchase bag of range balls, and head to the range. After warming up, I head to the tee and when I arrive the starter is there and the guy I’ve been playing with is there in his cart.

Before we tee off, the starter tells us that we will be having to ride together in the same cart even though we both checked in AND BOTH RECEIVED cart keys. I ask why we weren’t informed of this at a check or when I booked through GOLFNOW. It was clear the other golfer shared the same sentiment. Instead of just admitting that things could have been communicated prior to now, he chose to be an ABSOLUTE patronizing and condescending jerk and really started our round on a horrible foot.

For almost $70, I can confidently say it’s incredibly overpriced. The course isn’t well maintained. Nowhere in the booking did they say we would be playing for temp tees and we teed off from the FAIRWAY on the second tee! No ball wash, water was available on maybe 2-3 holes, we didn’t see the cart girl until the 11 hole and then she came around again on 14 to tell us this was her last round. If I would have known this is what it would have been like, I wouldn’t have paid almost $70 and driven almost an hour. Save your money, your time and go elsewhere. I promise it’s not worth it.

I have played this course now about 4 times and really have grown to love it.

1. It was nice to feel welcomed as MARK the starter was warm & friendly and able to advise on the course play as it was our first time playing here. Beside one was the maintenance staff on the ground showed great enthusiasm as he shared the effort that team has put in to keep the course well maintained.

2. Having played more than 80 different golf courses in GA, this course is rated within my top 10 for it's challenging layout, good green, fairways and sand bunker condition.

The tee boxes messed up not sure construction or weather. The greens not as good as last time I played. The fairways were mostly good but I don’t understand mowing and grass clippings left? Seems like you are investing in the course. Thanks.

Conditions are very good to great for greens, fairways, and traps. The rough is brutal as the ball can easily sink to “below see level.” If you keep it in play, you’ll really enjoy your round.

The course is in excellent shape, overall, though they had recently sanded the greens. Layout is challenging with a couple weird holes, and one on which overhanging wires can be (and were) hit by a ball. Play was a little slow, but not awful.

I’ve played this course a couple of times, it’s a good course, greens are in great shape. Huge issues with getting hydration, you are not allowed to bring a cooler, the coolers on the course were empty and the ONE cart person on the course caught us on the 9th hole, unacceptable when the temps are in the 90s. BTW we called the clubhouse from 8 and they blamed the empty coolers on maintenance, so did cart person.
