Very nice!
The staff was very professional and kind. The course was in great shape, and the greens were immaculate. Make sure you have enough water and supplies. The 9th hole doesn’t empty out back to the clubhouse. But the course has bathrooms and water stations throughout. I will definitely return here.
Great Improvement
Played West Pines a few weeks ago and must take my hat off and congratulate the team for their hard work. The fairways and greens were very good. The gentleman in the pro shop was super helpful and the starter got us out earlier than expected. Thanks WP.
West Pines is conveniently located from Atlanta. I you’re planning to walk get ready for some big climbs. The greens could be a little quicker. Overall a fun course with friendly staff.
Great layout/greens not good
I've played at West Pines some 7 years ago and I remember the greens being much better, may be because of the heat. I typically do not 3 putt but greens were inconsistent and not up to par for the price. Staff were friendly and like the chipping and putting area. When greens are bad it affects putting and chipping but it was good to get out.
Great Condition, Greens were perfect. Range needs an overhaul
I had played West Pines about 6 years ago and remember it was a nice course. Nothing has changed which is great. Tee Boxes were a bit too firm, but in good shape and so were fairways, bunkers, and especially greens.
My only knock is the driving range, Needs a renovation badly. And probably netting put up on the both sides but especially the right side to prevent balls from going into the 17th fairway. I was almost hit by a wayward range ball leaving the 17th tee box and the 17th fairway was just littered with balls which isn't a good look. Range balls also need a refurbish as well.
Summer 2024 review
I've played this course many years ago and it is still a fair but challenging course. Good value for the money. Staff is very friendly. Amenities are good and what you would expect for a public course. The course itself has wide but hilly (and many are uphill) fairways - making it both forgiving and challenging at the same time. Only a few holes with water and bunkers are usually easy to avoid. Wind can be a factor as the course sits next to a freeway as well as much of it is located on the crest of a moderate hill line. Carts are updated with speakers and GPS/maps/distance info (from cart to hole). Course does offer a concessions cart but only a couple of water coolers throughout course. Food/drink from concession cart is affordably priced. The course is well groomed (cut) but much of the turf in the fairways is brown at this time of year due to heat/drought. Greens are well kept and watered. We played on a Monday, mid morning, and had delays on a few holes waiting for mowers to finish cutting. Marshall/starter does patrol the course periodically but was understanding about speed of play (numerous novices were playing ahead of us) and was patrolling more to see if everyone was OK and give pointers. This course has been around for a LONG time and is a good entry/mid level course to play. Easy to get tee times, even on short notice, and at reasonable rates. Four sets of tees available (red, white (jr/sr), blue (normal), and gold). Good course for all levels of play.
West Pines Douglasville, Ga.
Absolutley love the course and as always a CHALLENGE. Second time ever playing here and the only thing I didnt like about it this time was being paired with two other indivisuals who were WAY better than my son and I. Dont get me wrong the two gentalmen were great guys and amazing golfers compaired to us however I booked the tee time for my son and me and didnt know or wasnt told of the other two gentalmen until our tee time. I feel 1 we slowed them down and 2 it made us play even worse than usual. Other than that great time.
Hidden Gem
Really enjoy everything about West Pines, beginning with the club house check-in personnel, practice area, the starter, pace of play, the layout and shape of the course.
One of these days I'm going to record a half decent round!
