Royal Lakes Golf & Country Club
About
Royal Lakes Golf & Country Club is situated in the heart of South Hall County. The course sprawls across 150 acres of rolling countryside with natural wetlands comprising 19 of those acres. The golf course has a traditional Scottish links design that also incorporates a few mountain holes. It's a layout that will always keep you guessing. It may not be the most formidable golf course in the area, but it shouldn't be underestimated either. The course strikes a good balance between being forgiving enough for high handicappers and challenging enough for more advanced players. The par 3s are tough and the diverse par 4s come in all shapes and sizes. Royal Lakes Golf & C.C. is a shot maker's layout that requires accuracy and thoughtful strategy. The most memorable hole on the golf course is the par-5 11th, which features an intimidating island green.

Hole 11 Green Photo submitted by baldeagle218 on 05/17/2019
Best score ever.
The playing area was really clear of all leaves. No trouble finding ball on this coirse. Shot a 90 which is great for me.
Great day
Course is good and staff helpfully. I had trouble with a couple of the holes that have water near green
Beautiful Golf Outing
Me and my Service Dog "Yogi" had a wonderful day as we splashed through rain showers and played this beautiful...but demanding golf course!
This is a short golf course with 2-3 challenging holes other than that pretty basic. In good shape especially the bent greens.
Great course, fantastic staff ; what a deal!!!
My buddies and I️ always enjoy Royal Lakes !
The course is in great shape but the Staff is the best we have experienced in a long time having visited the areas nearby competing courses!!!
Than you for a great round of golf and being made to feel like a truly valued customer!!!
Royal Lake
This was my first time playing this track! It was a very challenging and strategic course. I enjoyed the the diverseness of the layout of the course. The greens were in excellent shape as well. There were a few soggy spots on the course but overall a great play. I will return to play this course again in the future. Lastly, a real biggie for me; the staff was excellent! Great customer service and an overall friendly environment! ! 5 star experience!
Gorgeous golf course
Gorgeous golf course With many exciting and difficult holes. The scenery is magnificent. I can’t wait to play it again.
Great value for money
Course has a unique layout. Can’t use your driver on several non par 3 holes which can make it a challenge to score but a very fun course to play. Greens were a little bumpy, not due to course maintenance but rather others not fixing divots correctly or dragging spikes on the green. Love the finishing hole. Staff is very warm and friendly.
The course is short from the back tees but challenging. A few of the greens on the backside are sparse but overall a good experience. The faiways are perfect so your lies are always good.
Great day on a wonderful course.
This course has always been very playable, but this time the greens were rolling beautifully and were unbelievably receptive even to a low ball hitter like me. I look forward to playing Royal Lakes again soon.
Great Course
Cannot think of one thing negative about this place. Staff and other golfers are always nice. Greens and fairways are always in good shape.
Great course!
Really enjoyed playing on a Thursday afternoon. Had to jump ahead of a slow twosome on the 10th hole because they wouldn't let a single player go ahead of them. Other than that, I really enjoyed the round!
The front nine greens were aerated recently so they were a bit bumpy but the back nine greens were amazing. Give it a week or two and the front nine should be fine.
Played here many times
Although not my first choice, RL is a decent little course. The greens had been recently punched and the RL staff chose not to communicate this vital info on the GN site, which angered me somewhat - putting is more than half the game fellows... ah hem.
Anyway, aside from hole #11 and #13 you don't need local knowledge and the course is totally benign. However, on #11, a Par5, don't hit anything longer than 5w if you're a long hitter, and if you're not you still probably don't need to hit driver. And if you hit the ball left, you'll want to club down to something you know will not go left (water). This is just a strange hole which, to me, screams that the architect was thinking "I don't know what to do with this hole." And #13, is equally odd. On the tee, if you take (again if a long hitter) a driver or 3w, you're teeing off to an area as wide as a bowling lane, so you must club down to a 3i at most. If not a long hitter, you still only need a 5w. That will leave you with about 140yds or so a green you cannot see (can see top of flag) and see you must because it's the size of a postage stamp. If the flag on the right, you're thinking there's lots of room right of the flag, and there's none. If you miss the green long, left or right you're in for a rough almost certain bogey or dbl if you can't pitch. If you're going to miss the green, miss it short so you can at least chip/run the ball.
Also disappointing is there are a LOT of very very short par 4s. I like the odd short hole, but this course is littered with them. In fact, there are no long par 4s on this course. On one (hole #5 is a sharp dogleg right) or two of them, you cannot hit longer than a 5i off the tee (if you're a long hitter) or you'll go thru the dogleg.
Anyway, if you're short on a place to play, this is a decent route. You're just not going to be able to use your long clubs off of the tee, and if there's no one in front of you, you'll need about 1hr 45min to finish the track (I'm a low handicapper and not spending anytime in the woods looking for lost balls).
