Royal Lakes Golf & Country Club
About
Royal Lakes Golf & Country Club is situated in the heart of South Hall County. The course sprawls across 150 acres of rolling countryside with natural wetlands comprising 19 of those acres. The golf course has a traditional Scottish links design that also incorporates a few mountain holes. It's a layout that will always keep you guessing. It may not be the most formidable golf course in the area, but it shouldn't be underestimated either. The course strikes a good balance between being forgiving enough for high handicappers and challenging enough for more advanced players. The par 3s are tough and the diverse par 4s come in all shapes and sizes. Royal Lakes Golf & C.C. is a shot maker's layout that requires accuracy and thoughtful strategy. The most memorable hole on the golf course is the par-5 11th, which features an intimidating island green.

Hole 11 Green Photo submitted by baldeagle218 on 05/17/2019
perfect day for golf
Course was surprisingly not crowded on a perfect spring day. Got in 27 with my golfing friend in under 4 1/2 hours. Greens could have been faster, but their speed allowed for a lower score. I really like this course.
1st Time.
If you are a bogey golfer or better don’t pass this one up. It will not disappoint. Fair yet challenging. Par 5 with an island green. Say what? Gotta cross water twice and avoid it on your left from tee to par this one.
Great Course
Pleasant staff and great overall experience. Course is beautiful, in great shape, and a fair test for all.
Nice course - too slow
Royal Lakes is a fun course with a very nice layout. Their greens were recently aerated, so the greens were rough however the problem was the pace of play. It took 5 1/2 hours to play and we waited five to ten minutes on every tee, often with two groups waiting to tee off. The Ranger should've moved things along. No excuse for this excessively slow pace of play.
Beautiful time to play
Azaleas are blooming all over the course. Fairways and bunkers in good shape. Greens just aerated and sanded. Just filling in. Back nine plays slightly harder. Good course I always enjoy the test.
Terrible experience
Wow...
My first experience for racism from cart parking staff.
Will never play ever again.
Good luck
Great Course
First time playing Royal Lakes, and really enjoyed it. Variety of challenging holes which allowed you to use most of the clubs in the bag. Wish I knew a little more about some of the holes with water, as blind shots bit me a little. Will definitely be back and certainly would recommend everyone give it a try.
Old Country Club, New Attitude
As a yearly visitor to this area, I got this course recommendation from golfers I played with at the U. of G. golf course... and I was not disappointed. Tight fairways, open fairways, long par 3's, short par 3's.....this course seems to check off all the boxes. So, don't be fooled by the Country Club title, you need to work the ball here, use all of the clubs in your bag, and look forward to the next hole!
Saturday Round
Beautiful course, and many interesting holes. Greens were perfect so hats off to the grounds keeper. Folks in the clubhouse very nice. Just wish it was closer but for an occasional round a 60 minute drive is tolerable. We will be back to play again.

Indifference
Nice course in reasonable condition for this time of year. Very fast greens with extremely difficult on placements. Staff in pro shop very aloof & terse. Starter cool & uninformative.
Pace of play unacceptable. We took 4.5 hours to play because of a foursome in front of us that had the entire course backed up. 2-3 holes open in front of them. No ranger/"ambassador " ever seen. No beverage cart.
Great Course even in winter
We really enjoy this course. It is quite challenging with plenty of hazards. Great environment, beautiful layout, super club house.
Really good track on the outskirts of metro-Atl
I’ve been playing royal lakes for a few years and it’s always been one of the go-to options in the northeast metro Atlanta area. This trip was no exception. Really a great layout with plenty of variety. Due to the recent winter weather, the greens are a bit slow and bumpy but they look like they’ll be in good shape once the spring weather starts to set in. Royal doesn’t overseed or paint so everything is brown at the moment which is normal for most courses in Georgia right now. (With the exception of the greens themselves). Always a good experience here at royal and I will continue to come back!
Always enjoy playing here
Played on a day that started wet and cold but warmed up nicely later on. With very few other golfers on the course we could play at our own pace which was very enjoyable. This a fun course with good elevation changes and a few good risk/reward holes. Always enjoy playing here - the course held up well after the early morning rain and the greens were in very good condition for this time of year.
Best score ever.
The playing area was really clear of all leaves. No trouble finding ball on this coirse. Shot a 90 which is great for me.
