Jekyll Island Golf Club - Pine Lakes Course
About
Jekyll Island Golf Club offers 64 holes of golf, making it the largest public golf facility in Georgia. The courses are a favorite amongst locals and visitors since it's hard to beat the affordable rates. The club features three 18-hole courses and one nine-hole course. Pine Lakes is the longest of the three full-length courses at 6,700 yards from the back tees, though the course is not lengthy by any means. The final hole is the only one on the course with considerable length. The original layout was created in 1968 and underwent a major renovation in 2002. It is similar to the Indian Mound Course, which sits adjacent to it, but Pine Lakes has a more modern bunkering system. Fairway bunkers come into play for long hitters and the bunkers that frame the greens demand accurate approach shots.

Always nice
Would be pristine but had much weekend tourney play and traffic.
Playability
This course provides playability for all golfers, from ladies, seniors, and all level of golfers abilities.
Great layout
Slow play with no marshalls speeding up the other group. The greens were very slow. I do not understand since it was the only course on the island that was opened. Cut the greens and roll them, before you work on the other courses. Very disappointed the greens. Maybe a marshall to get the slower groups to move faster. We play here about twice a month, but if the greens do not get any better than I will stay with the other courses on st simons and Brunswick.
Course was in great shape just wet from all the rain
Fairways and greens were in great shape it was cart path only due to rain
Leaves a lot to be desired
Disappointing condition of course in general and greens in particular. Other reviewers had mentioned the slowness of the greens and having to hammer the ball. We thought it might be the heavy rains this summer and that they would be better now. But no, they are left long, and are simply dreadfully slow. The fairways too have long grass so the ball will not run and often nestles down. So disappointing. If not staying on Jekyll Island, remember to factor in the $6 cost of the entry toll.
Great closing hole.
Have been coming to Jekyll Island for many years and never tire of playing the golf courses. Pine Lakes is one of my favorites. Very accessible for all players with it's many tee boxes. Course was in wonderul condition. Has a great mix of difficult holes and fun par 3's. Easy course to walk.
Good course
Course is well maintained but bunkers need improvement. Many bunkers have little sand in them.
Great golf get-a-way
Played both Pine Lakes and Oleander courses. Airways great greens slow. Given about of rain here recently both courses in very good condition.
nice course for the money
Flat layout with well placed bunkers and trees. Water comes into play often. Greens are flat mostly and grainy.
Beauty on the coast
Had a great day of golf. We saw wildlife on almost every hole. The course was in great shape even though the area had received a lot of rain lately. The greens were very well maintained, and the bunkers had steep sharp sides. :) very nice course...I plan to return soon.
Course was very playable even after 8 inches of rain the past 3 days.
Course was in great shape after absorbing 8 inches of rain in 3 days. Although it was cart path only, pace of play was pretty good and the greens were good even with all the rain. Its the fourth time I've played at Jekyll Island and its never been more than 3 and 1/2 hours. Excellent value for a well maintained golf course.

Open course with good value for the GolfNow price
Of the two courses, Pine Lake was in in better shape than Oleander. Greens were in poor condition at Oleander. Staff was moderately friendly. Overall good value for the price.
Good value, friendly staff, slow greens
I have played all the Jekyll courses over the years and I'll continue to do so because of the fair pricing. The layouts are pretty interesting and the wildlife and nature views are outstanding. I played Pine Lakes this year and found it to be the best conditioned of the courses. The downside of all the Jekyll courses is that the ground is too soft, in my opinion. The soft ground results in very slow greens that don't put true. I just tell myself to expect that and feel that it's still a fair value for the rates they charge. It seemed that the staff had not cut new hole locations recently, because the edges of the holes were not sharp.
good course but needs tweeking
The total experience was less than expected. The course personnel were good, the course itself was in good condition. I was disappointed in two areas - the driving range. and the availability of cold drinks. When the provided token was inserted in the range ball machine it delivered about 10 balls ( this for a three dollar fee) The sign at the Starter station read " no personal coolers allowed " I thought well, at least we will have a cart with drinks and snacks - no such luck. The two water coolers on the course, one was cool the second was warm. This with almost 90 degree weather.
Course was over booked. Greens were in bad shape. Punched greens right before a holiday weekend(4th of July)
Played behind a group of 4 that hacked it all over the course. Would not let a group of two by. Even at the turn when two of the group were getting food at pro shop. Marshall no where to be seen.
awesome staff great course
Wonderful experience. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back.saw a lot of wild life. It had a steady sea breeze. Good pro shop, driving range, and carts
Nice Course!
I really enjoyed this course. The fairways were relatively narrow which provided a challenge. The greens were recently aerated, which caused some difficulty putting, but it was very enjoyable.
Beautifully deceptive!
Beautiful play through the Georgia pines with broad, long fairways that lull you into thinking you will easily conquer the course.
The hidden secret--the greens are among the most clever, tricky holes in the ground I've played. They will keep you humble but you will leave with a smile on your face. You'll be playing inside a postcard.
Overall nice atmosphere.
Teed off at 12:40 as scheduled and finished at 3. Can't beat that pace of play. Other than the hot weather it was very good e
Scenic course very well maintained
It was our first visit to Pine Lakes and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The course is challenging but fairways are wide enough for those occasional errant shots. Course is in great condition but don't expect much of a roll on fairways. GolfNow price made this an excellent value.
