Needs TLC
A round here should be a really nice experience, but lack of attention detracts.
Bunkers have not been tended for a long time, with tall grass and weeds in most of them. Empty cans, bottles and wrappers litter the rough on several holes. Fairways and greens are in decent shape, so hit 'em straight!
It used to be worth the drive from Jax.
The course itself is a nice place to play.
Tee boxes average
Fairways decent
Greens for the most part ok
Bunkers can't even be called bunkers, holes with weeds and dirt.
For the price they changed l charge, they could put more money into making it what it was a few years ago
I only said yes to recommend playing there because of the layout, but it needs work
Great Layout
Have played here several times over the past year. Absolutely enjoy playing there however the recent rain events has taken its toll. Can’t find a better course when Mother Nature cooperates. Will definitely play it again when the area dries out.
First Light, First Out
Always enjoy playing this course especially early on a Sunday morning. Course was in really good shape, and the greens made putting fun. Will be back soon.
Not worth the money
The reputation of this course is one of a great course layout and awesome experience. Well I'm here to tell you that they are resting on their reputation. I realize rain has played a big part on the course maintenance, however when the bunkers have 2 foot tall weeds and grass growing in them..... The greens are DEAD in a lot of places and where there's grass there's weeds too. I felt that the cost far exceeded the worth of the course I was playing. It was a goat track. Reminds me of an old saying.... You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig. I will never go back there again.
What a disappointment
Have been playing this course at least once a year for the past 15 years. The condition of the course on 8/16/24 was horrible. Rough has not been cut for weeks, bunkers were unplayable, tee boxes were shaggy and to make matters even worse the price went up 50% from last year. Avoid until ownership decides to bring it back from its current state of disrepair. There are much better options than paying $60 for this course.
Overall the course was great, I’ve actually played here a few times. Had a family emergency come up around my 3rd hole and had to leave. When I tried to rain check the pro shop said I couldn’t due to paying online. Not mad by any mean and don’t blame anyone, but I feel like I shoudlve been given a 9 hole rain check atleast being I only got through 3 holes. Great course though..
Greens and fairways were in excellent condition along with the tee boxes. Bunkers were in bad shape and the ruff was weedy. Really enjoyed the course. It's fair and the main areas that most golfers want to be in good shape were in great shape.
Fun course and decent value
Few of the greens have the black sludge on them, all the fairways were great, level tee boxes (1 was extremely overgrown, otherwise fine). Would play again for being 30 minutes from my house. Slightly overpriced for a Sunday round in south GA.
Booking Confusion
I looked on Golf Now and saw there were tee times available at 10:05 @ $40. We wanted to play earlier so I called the pro shop. After discussion with the person handling the call, we decided to book at the Golf Now tee time. She told me she could handle for me.
When we checked in we discovered our rate was $54. When I questioned the rate, the gentleman in the pro shop was insistent that our rate was $54 and that there was no such thing as a $40 Golf rate. I even showed him the rate on the Gold Now app. He still insisted our rate was $54. Rather than continuing to deal with is overbearing obnoxious person, we went ahead and paid the $54 rate.
Guess lesson learned... when booking a Golf Now tee time, do it yourself rather than trusting the shop staff to do it as promised. Plus the golf staff needs to learn what rates are being offered for their own course
Great Value
Fun wide open course. Fairways in excellent condition with greens in good condition. Great value for the buck.
