Collins Hill Golf Club
About
Collins Hills Golf Club is a little known course to outsiders, but it is a local favorite. The traditional parkland layout tumbles across a rolling terrain. The golf course features small, undulating greens and narrows fairways bordered by towering trees. The layout demands accuracy especially with the numerous sand bunkers that have been incorporated into the design. Several ponds and lakes are scattered across the course, coming into play on seven holes. The layout has its challenges but it is still gentle enough to accommodate a variety of different skill levels. Before playing, golfers can warm up on the driving range or utilize the other practice facilities. Collins Hills Golf Club's atmosphere definitely plays a role in the club's popularity, offering all of the amenities of a private club with a casual and friendly setting

Terrible Shape - Greens = Horrible
$40 is way too much. I felt like I was ripped off. I have no interest in going back as it was a disappointing experience but would not suggest in paying more than $15 or you will leave upset with yourself for over paying.
I have played there a few times before and this was by far the worst experience.
I never write reviews, and sorry guys for being so negative but this course has not been taken care of. It has been neglected to the point of being the worst course as far as condition in NE Georgia.
The good:
-Staff was nice
-Plenty of Tee Time availability
-Convenient Location
The Bad:
-The greens are in terrible shape. #1 is the only green in decent shape on the whole course. Some are literally not much more than mud.
-If the greens are bad, you would at least expect them to be consistently bad and slow or fast or something. That is not the case here. Every green plays completely different. You go to one and it looks decent but is slow slow sloooowwww, the next one is muddy and then you go to the next hole and if you don't make the putt, because it is on a hill and the irrigation is terrible, if you don't sink the putt it wont stop rolling until it is in the fairway.
-The greens are so bad there really is no reason to even putt. It is not even good practice. Literally no other course has greens as bad as these so you get no value out of playing them whatsoever and you certainly aren't going to score well...I don't care you you are.
-Other than the greens, for the most part the course is very hard with not much grass, mostly hard dirt and rocks, clay or mud.
-It was Sunday morning so slow play was expected but what was not expected were the impatient golfers everywhere. We had drives hit into us, by three different groups behind us, no less than 5 different times. YES FIVE TIMES!
Was a great time and day to play. Will return soon. Hopefully group in front of me will not look for every ball they hit off the tee in the woods.
Had another great time. Would love to see the cart paths repaved. Thanks
Bunkers and greens can use some work
Love this course but the bunkers need some work and it looks like they are starting to lose some of the greens. Hoping the summer helps get them in better shape.
Very wet
Love this course. It’s my go to course play yesterday and it was sooo wet from the rain the night before. For the prices it was good for me but my father in law is over 65 he has bad feet and walking from the cart path to the ball and up and down the hill took a toll on him. So I couldn’t finish playing left before the 14th hole. Still going to play here.
Collins Hill summary
Collins Hill has a pleasant mixture of short and long holes. The small elevated greens and narrow fairways keep it challenging for all skill levels. There are some forced carries across water and the sloping fairwaysp provide a variety of lies. Greens were fast downhill and slow up hill with grain playing a factor. It reminded me of mountain golf on a few holes because you had to play on the high side
I had good round looking forward to my next round
Moving in the right direction
I play this course about a dozen times, annually. For the most part, I play here because it's close to home and they offer competitive rates. Course conditions are improving. Greens are in great shape for this time of year. My only real beef with the course, is tee time / pace-of-play management (or, lack thereof). I often find it difficult to play at a comfortable pace at Collins Hill. The course is frequently crowded and marshals are rarely around to prevent other golfers from breaking etiquette, like taking two mulligans on the tee box with players behind them; or, someone teeing off on a hole while you're still in the fairway (of that same hole). I don't pay $20 - $30 per round, to play here, to be forced into playing speed golf. It's annoying; and ultimately hurts what would otherwise, be an excellent customer experience. The course has to make their money; and that's totally understandable. However, there are other (better) places to play in this area for that kind of money. Stagger the tee times better; or, find a better way to prevent players on the course from diminishing the playing experience for others. Thanks.
Excellent course for walking
Course layout is perfect for a walking round with greens and tee boxes just a short walk from each other. It's just hilly enough to give you a good workout.
Staff is very friendly and accommodating. They keep the course in good shape year-round.
Reasonable greens fees make Collins Hill a great value for someone who wants to play regularly.
Fun course to play, but not very friendly to golf now customers
Fun course to play, but not very friendly to golf now customers
The course was in horrible condition and it was a hour and then minute delay it was the worst
Hot deal
Staffs were extremely unfriendly. Staffs need to be able to work with customers for example if golfers is ready to tee staffs should let them tee off even though there tee time is bit earlier then what were we were very disappointed
Way to expensive for afternoon play on a Sunday. The course is not well kept, car paths are horrid and fairways are terrible. Staff is awful, very rude and not very welcoming. The Course is not worth the coin
Read this if you are thinking of playing here
I have never played here before and arrived exactly 20 minutes before my scheduled tee time. I have played thousands upon thousands of rounds of golf and have done so on well over 100 golf courses. I walked into the Pro Shop and the fellow behind the counter greeted me and I said that I had a tee time at 12:48 p.m. and gave him my last name. He looked at his tee sheet and clearly saw that it was a discounted GolfNow rate and his demeanor changed immediately. He said that he would get me out onto the golf course 10 minutes before the time and that I'd be paired up with the other players. Ok - that was in 10 minutes! This was baffling to me as I had never heard that before. "So what do I do for the next 10 minutes, go sit in my car?" is what I thought. He wasn't offering a cart or anything.
He knows as well so does every golfer in the world that I have gear that needs to be loaded onto a cart. Every other time I’ve ever played golf the attendant understands that my only need from him is to be shown to a cart. And we had this conversation - I'm asking "Can I have a cart key" and "If there are other players here that are in the same tee time group, where is one so I can put my gear on the cart?" If I’m the first guy they should give me a cart key or if there are other people there that I’m supposed to be paired with, then they should show me who the person is so I can put my gear on the cart. Instead, the awkwardness of being pushed away and back into my car is stinging. What an experience!
I arrived on purpose just in time to get my gear on cart and to hit a few putts and pitch the ball - that's it. So, the time is nearing, and it's 12:44pm. No one has come out and I'm supposed to tee off in 4 minutes. I'm already worried because there were reviews of a 5 hour round, and that's the last thing I want to be involved in - a 5 hour round at a goat rodeo.
So, I am standing there at the putting green in front of my golf bag with 3 minutes to go and someone pops out and hollers my last name and says "you're playing with those guys" to which he makes no gestures, so I'm supposed to figure out who "those guys are" I guess.
"What a sack of excrement this place is" is what I'm thinking. This is my very first impression of the place! So, I take it upon myself to find "other guys" and ask what their tee time is, and manage to get myself onto a golf cart that's already occupied. Ok. It's past 12:48pm, my tee time, and I'm just now on a cart with no knowledge of the course, etc.
I'm a real golfer so I can handle myself once I get a ball in front of me and near a tee box.
Here's my review of the golf course - It's super short and you have to have local knowledge to play well. Lots of cambered fairways, some hidden hazards, and small greens that are super duper slow.
There's nothing memorable about the golf course itself. Will I be back? I honestly don't know. I really don't know.
I honestly don't get the whole "Let's poo on our customers" vibe - it doesn't get them anywhere.
Hey Collins Hill,
Why don't you chill out on the whole greeting your players thing. You're not getting any style points!
Signed,
The World
A nice afternoon
My wife and I were I town on business and had time for a round. The course was a very pleasant surprise. The staff very knowledgeable of the course and its history and the course itself very enjoyable for both the serious and recreational golfer. I will definitely play it again when in town.
