Collins Hill Golf Club
About
Collins Hills Golf Club is a little known course to outsiders, but it is a local favorite. The traditional parkland layout tumbles across a rolling terrain. The golf course features small, undulating greens and narrows fairways bordered by towering trees. The layout demands accuracy especially with the numerous sand bunkers that have been incorporated into the design. Several ponds and lakes are scattered across the course, coming into play on seven holes. The layout has its challenges but it is still gentle enough to accommodate a variety of different skill levels. Before playing, golfers can warm up on the driving range or utilize the other practice facilities. Collins Hills Golf Club's atmosphere definitely plays a role in the club's popularity, offering all of the amenities of a private club with a casual and friendly setting

Hole #11. If you do not have a good drive, you may have to lay up in front of the pond. Photo submitted by Sean4356667 on 03/04/2013
Check out this course
A surprising nice course to play. The greens were in good condition. Most holes were straightforward for first time play. A few had blind shots. But overall a nice round.
Good Golf Course
When the green fees are this inexpensive, you do not expect much, however this is a good course! The fairways and greens are in good shape. Some of the bunkers do need work.
This is not a long course, but you will get in trouble if you miss your target on the fairway on many of the holes. The staff is great!
Will play this course many times in the future!
Great place to play!!!
Great course it was beautiful! Service was exceptional! Easy course to play and greens were nice, Only two water coolers one on front 9 one on back and no ball washers. bunkers were I think being redone there was little or no sand. Overall it was great and I would recommend this course as a great and easy place to have a great game with friends!
Poor conditions and Tournement management
The course is in very poor conditions in general, bunkers are growing weeds of all kinds Cart path has dangerous potholes.
When we arrived the starter was very rude despite last group had left 15 min ago we were to stay at the club house. The cours was also paring people by groups of 5 for tournament which of course slowed down the game drastically. We started 20 min after the previous group we cought up with them on hole 4 and had a painful wait until the end of the 18th... good thing we had a discounted rate with golf now but still the course was not worth he money...
Older and quite short!
Course is an older style short and narrow type. Reminded me of a few back in California that werent built for todays equipment.
Challenging none the less. Great time juat stay out of the grass and rock filled bunkers!
Course is well worth the price
Course is in very good shape bunkers aside. Staff was very friendly. Best bargain around.
Great value
Course was in good condition. Only wish the sand traps had more sand. Greens were slow.
Good Value for the Money
Overall course in good shape. Can’t beat the price. Bunkers were in poor condition. No big deal. Give yourself some relief and enjoy life. Club house was clean, including restroom.
Walked in and the gentlemen immediately handed me my receipt and key. I would
Play here again. Starter was attentive and accommodating.
Don’t play here
This was one of the worst courses I have ever played. I think hole 5 the green was flooded and the hole was full of water. The sand traps are like hitting out of clay and have grass growing in them. One hole doesn’t even have a green it’s in the middle of the fairway. I left after the 13 hole and was very disappointed. Played here like 5 Year’s ago and I don’t remember it being the bad. Way to over priced as well. Do not play here save your money or play somewhere else. The cart paths are terrible half of them are falling apart.
Improvements
Went to Golf.now to find an early Tee Time and decided to try Collins Hill. I read some reviews before I finally booked the Tee time and went ahead with it. Upon arriving at the course, noticed that some of the grass needed to be mowing. Not a big concern initially as the area had received lots of rain. Checked in and headed over to the range. I need to mention that I let the guys at the Pro Shop know that me and my playing partner were only playing 9 holes. He said no problem, told us to come in and get our receipt for the Rain Check to finish the back 9.
Get the cart, head over to the Driving range which is nestled in between the 10th and 18th Holes. A little different than what I'm use too, but we warmed up. I figured since we are only playing 9 holes, and no one was on the Back 9 we figured we'd start playing the Back 9. Well as we approached the Greens on the 10th Hole, the Golf Marshal came over and told us we had to start on the Front 9. Didn't really understand why but we did. I can tell you that the Fairways were in need of being mowed as well as the Tee Boxes.
I noticed that most of the Bunkers were in terrible shape, they either had no sand and just dirt with Grass and Weeds growing in there. The Greens we somewhat soggy as well from all the rain. They were slow and I noticed lots of divots on them. I guess the reviews I read were true. I could tell this use to be a really nice course, but over the years the wear and tear has taken it's toll on the course and there are other options to play golf in this area.
Overall, if you want to work on your game and the quality of course doesn't matter, then this is the place for you. If you are looking for a course that can display it's beauty and well manicured, then unfortunately Collins Hill doesn't quite fit the bill. I'd give this course 2 out of 5 stars. Like I mentioned earlier it all depends on what you are attempting to accomplish playing at Collins Hill.
Still there
The course is hard as a rock. The greens are in so so shape very very. The fairways could use a little work. The cart paths well they are paths you know. There have done a lot of work on the course and it is almost average.
Course is poorly maintain
I have never given a bad review to a golf course. This is the first time. Greens and few bunkers are poorly maintained. Some of the bunkers had no sand at all, just weeds. The pace was terrible. Some of the folks playing did not have the courtesy to allow faster players to pass them. Going towards the back 9, I made a nice recommendation to the ranger, and he took offense. All I said was, to please tell folks to speed up the game or to allow players playing faster to pass them.
Terrible Shape - Greens = Horrible
$40 is way too much. I felt like I was ripped off. I have no interest in going back as it was a disappointing experience but would not suggest in paying more than $15 or you will leave upset with yourself for over paying.
I have played there a few times before and this was by far the worst experience.
I never write reviews, and sorry guys for being so negative but this course has not been taken care of. It has been neglected to the point of being the worst course as far as condition in NE Georgia.
The good:
-Staff was nice
-Plenty of Tee Time availability
-Convenient Location
The Bad:
-The greens are in terrible shape. #1 is the only green in decent shape on the whole course. Some are literally not much more than mud.
-If the greens are bad, you would at least expect them to be consistently bad and slow or fast or something. That is not the case here. Every green plays completely different. You go to one and it looks decent but is slow slow sloooowwww, the next one is muddy and then you go to the next hole and if you don't make the putt, because it is on a hill and the irrigation is terrible, if you don't sink the putt it wont stop rolling until it is in the fairway.
-The greens are so bad there really is no reason to even putt. It is not even good practice. Literally no other course has greens as bad as these so you get no value out of playing them whatsoever and you certainly aren't going to score well...I don't care you you are.
-Other than the greens, for the most part the course is very hard with not much grass, mostly hard dirt and rocks, clay or mud.
-It was Sunday morning so slow play was expected but what was not expected were the impatient golfers everywhere. We had drives hit into us, by three different groups behind us, no less than 5 different times. YES FIVE TIMES!
Just reading the next comment. The bunkers are still overgrown and no sand in them. Work has been done but still not a 20$ course.
