Mystery Valley Golf Club
About
Mystery Valley Golf Club encompasses 230 acres of gently rolling land that ranges from dense forests of towering Georgia pines to grassy meadows covered in acres of colorful wildflowers. Mystery Valley is known for both the beautiful scenery on the course itself and the stunning views from the elevated tees. There are two lakes and a pond that dot the course, coming into play on three holes. At just over 6,700 yards, the layout features some long holes but it will also test your short game with strategically placed bunkers around the fast, medium-sized greens. There is an interesting variety of holes including several winding par 5s and the watery and treacherous 15th hole, which is considered one of Atlanta's most challenging par 4s. The more challenging elements of Mystery Valley Golf Club are balanced by the generous, player-friendly fairways.

Greens are wrecked
This course has such potential, but the greens are in terrible shape. Hardpack sand.dirt and weeds populated far more of the green than any grass. They need to close for a while and regrow them. I won't be back this year.
Greens are Terrible
Let me start by saying I have played here 30+times, I like the layout, the staff, the course etc but the greens are in terrible condition. I cannot recommend paying to play here until that changes and unfortunately it looks like it may be many months before they will improve. Very disappointing because I really enjoy playing Mystery Valley.
Tough Greens
The greens were not in good shape. It made for a long day. I’m not exactly sure what is going on with the greens. It was like putting on packed dirt, sand and grass all rolled up in one. I would love to come back when the greens are in better shape.
Great layout - conditions ok
I had the chance to play the Mystery Valley with my son in April. I loved the course design but could tell from the conditions that it had not yet recovered from the colder winter weather. Greens were fast due to lack of grass but were still pretty true. I would love to play the course again.
Pack a lunch…and dinner
1.5 hrs in called it quits after almost getting 3 holes in. No pace of play management. Pretty unreal cannot suggest this course. Staff was friendly, greens were sanded can’t speak much about layout b/c I couldn’t wait 8 hrs to get a feel for the course.
Greens in bad shape
Not sure what happened to greens replaced in last couple years, hope they recover. Probably not go back until greens improve. Maybe consider offering a price break considering greens current conditions. Staters helpful by allowing us to go off back to help with pace of play, 3.5 hrs round.
Greens
Had a good time playing fairways were nice, but the greens are in bad shape will be a month or so before they’re right
Pace of play
Pace of play was terrible on a Tuesday morning. Sr groups held the back 9 up. On the front 9, a 5-sum played together.
The greens were bumpy but the fairways were decent.
All and all I would play there again because of the great course layout. Hopefully the greens and pace of play is better.
Good shape considering the time of year
Yes, some of the grass is still dormant, and there are a lot of leaves. To the naked eye the greens look rough, but they roll very true. Considering the time of year, I would say the course is in great shape, especially for the price.
Used to be a nice coarse
I haven’t golfed here for about three years. I used to come all the time before kids. The tee boxes and greens are in absolute garbage condition. You can not gauge a putt distance nor speed because they play like plinko. Do not spend money here.
Review of course
Golf carts are in terrible condition. Brakes were a challenge. Greens were horrible. Tee boxes need work. I don’t recommend this course
Not worth the money
Terrible greens and fairways. Bunkers are nice. A tee time should be half they are charging.
Good course
This is a good course for beginners/intermediate level golfers.
Very Good Dick Wilson Course
Very enjoyable round at this old Dick Wilson course. The routing takes the golfer on a roller coaster ride through the rolling terrain and the surrounding forest.
Course conditions were good and the rolling greens were close to perfect.
On line booking tee time
Poor online booking tee time. Whoever books online has to pay the service fee of $7 plus sales tax for the total cost of the round. In my case it was approximately $8 , for a threesome. When we got to the course they charged each member of the threesome an equal amount of the remaining balance for the round. Since I had already paid $15 the attendant would not split the total cost of the round, leaving me to deal with getting reimbursed for their share of the service fee and the sales tax. They could have reversed my booking costs and then charged each of us an equal amount.
Challenging Layout
Course in pretty good shape for end of November. Surprised greens were already dormant and dyed green while similar courses were still green grass.
Fun, inexpensive Midcentury-Modern golf
Dick Wilson’s premature death cost golfers more of his inventive work through the 1960s, but he did leave behind this enjoyable DeKalb County-owned 18 on exciting but still walkable terrain. The front is the better nine here, with a cracking opening: a par 5 that bends like a backwards C to an elevated green followed by a short uphill par 3 to a diabolically pitched putting surface. Conditions were solid and early-morning pace of play was speedy. For less than $50 for an early fall round, it’s hard to beat in a crowded Atlanta metro market.
