About
Conveniently situated between Athens and Lawrenceville, the Providence Club has a scenic location stretching right along the Appalachee River that makes it feel much more like a getaway. The golf course has been considered one of northeast Georgia's best since opening in 1998. The layout takes advantage of the rolling terrain, incorporating elevated tees and uneven lies. The greens often feature slopes and undulations but they are fair and they roll true. They are also known for being excellently maintained. Mature trees frame many of the holes and there are several strategically placed bunkers lurking throughout. Water doesn't come into play too often but the elevation changes will provide plenty of challenges. The golf course is player friendly enough to accommodate a wide range of skill levels with a few tricky holes to keep the round interesting.

Providence Golf course
Providence is a great golf course but don’t expect much else other than a great course, the staff seems like they’re there just to get you out and play, and the food is meh, but at the end of the day the great course with tricky greens (Well kept too) is what makes this course great.

Excellent Greens
Very familiar with this course; I play it often. First off, the greens are in exceptional condition. I remember last year at this time they were not in good condition. Hats off to the staff for how they are today! Otherwise, always a fun track. Was a little disappointed in the number of winter/early spring weeds, but I trust those will be taken care of as the weather warms after an extremely wet winter. Nice variety of holes, including some excellent par 3s.

Overpriced and poor time management
Twice I have played here and gotten screwed over by poor timing. First I played 1-9 having a good game decent pace being solo I know I am generally faster but still a good pace, until the turn going to 10. They were having a front 9 playoff or tournament so anyone showing up to play 9 started on the back 9 which put 3 foursomes in front of me on 10 and I left once I got to 14 it was so slow. The most recent time I was set to tee off at 2:24, I rolled up and had 2 foursomes in front of me a group on the fairway and a group on the green so I was told it would be best to play the back 9 first to be able to move at a bit more pace only to get back to 1 and told I can’t play because they are starting an event there. I will not be returning will take my local business to The Chimney’s.

Very helpful on anything you need
I live about 2 miles from this course and like the course a lot. A lot of very open fairways and some tight ones to. Greens are really fast but overall in good shape I wasn’t able to play today because of the rain but will be back soon as possible to challenge the course again. The practice area is nice but usually don’t use it just get busy teeing off on number one. Just wish I could of played today but just to much rain to be able to go

Golf
Pace of play was slow it took 5 hours to play 18 holes because there was a 2some in front of us that had inappropriate golf deficit and didn’t know how to play the game and didn’t let anyone play thru like they should have but other than that I had a great experience at the course it was in great conditions considering how much rain we’ve had in the past week and the greens were in great shape in all the course was amazing definitely would go back and play again

All around good course
This course has quite a few straight holes and not much water. It’s challenging and enjoyable for a round of golf.
