About
Conveniently situated between Athens and Lawrenceville, the Providence Club has a scenic location stretching right along the Appalachee River that makes it feel much more like a getaway. The golf course has been considered one of northeast Georgia's best since opening in 1998. The layout takes advantage of the rolling terrain, incorporating elevated tees and uneven lies. The greens often feature slopes and undulations but they are fair and they roll true. They are also known for being excellently maintained. Mature trees frame many of the holes and there are several strategically placed bunkers lurking throughout. Water doesn't come into play too often but the elevation changes will provide plenty of challenges. The golf course is player friendly enough to accommodate a wide range of skill levels with a few tricky holes to keep the round interesting.

Great round after tons of rain.
After 5 inches of rain on Friday, I was wary of the possible condition of course. Kudos to the staff. It was very playable Saturday and we had a great time. Can they wait for the course to firm up later this spring. We will definite back. Great job.

Lazy or Incompetent Staff
Scheduled a tee time to play there at 2:40 after calling and talking to their “tee time” desk, was assured by this man that the course was open despite all the rain we had received. Drove over an hour to find out they were closed. Either the staff their is too dumb to figure out how to let their answering service know they are closed or they just don’t care. Probably a little of both.

Course n bad shape
Fairways wet and in poor shape. Greens had large sections of weeds. Hot day and no water on course. Ball cleaners not in operating condition. Very disappointed with this experience. Had played in the past many times and course much better shape

Course is in winter condition, could use a marshal 5 hours is sad here, typically 4 4 1/4 hours. Move the slow folks along. The course punched the fairways recently with all the rain that caused a lot of dead spots in the fairways which makes it a little difficult to.
Will add this back into the rotation in 4 weeks

Good Layout
Staff very pushy . Guy directing players very rude to wife and i becuase we got in front of big group on back nine and didnt get his permission. Only paid 25 a person and still felt ripped off. Ill never go back and im sure owner won't care. Houses around course are unmaintained and maintinance has trash stashed in the woods everywhere. Place is all hyped up. If staff wasnt so bad i xould look past other issues becuase it was a fun course.

Greens need work
The course layout is great with short par 4’s and par 5’s. The only thing that needs work are the greens. They have some bad spots on them and they are inconsistent in regards to speed. If they they got the greens rolling better the course would be 5 stars.

Long Round
My friend and I were playing as a twosome. In front of us was a foursome of Asian women. They played extremely slow, did not wave us through. We had to wait on every hole. No golf etiquette at all.

Beautiful February Day
Course was in excellent condition for February and I got around in 3.5 hours. 68 degrees in February!

Good time
Played this course many times, have always enjoyed. Would have given it 5 stars on all categories but the greens are still not back to usual perfection. I assume that this spring will bring them back look forward to playing then

Always a fun track. Not long, but a fair test.
Greens appear to be improving after great difficulties with weeds last year. I am encouraged. Course overall in good shape after the very wet past 3 months. Nice variety of holes and modest elevation changes. Played as a single in just under 3.5 hours.

It is a pity
I have enjoyed the layout and conditions of this course up to my last round. The greens are as bad as I have ever seen them and hope they get a handle on them.

Fast and reliable
The course is great for seniors but the greens had some fungus on them,-especially number 1.
Terrible Green Conditions
Over the years I have seen this course change hands several times. This is the worst condition I have ever seen this course in. The greens have large patches of weeds. Ball marks and areas where people drag their feet look unrepaired from days ago. Most of the tee boxes from the tips are in terrible condition with little grass. Greens were not cleaned off. Looked like sand traps were of the up most importance. It will be a long time before I play here again.
