Providence Club
About
Conveniently situated between Athens and Lawrenceville, the Providence Club has a scenic location stretching right along the Appalachee River that makes it feel much more like a getaway. The golf course has been considered one of northeast Georgia's best since opening in 1998. The layout takes advantage of the rolling terrain, incorporating elevated tees and uneven lies. The greens often feature slopes and undulations but they are fair and they roll true. They are also known for being excellently maintained. Mature trees frame many of the holes and there are several strategically placed bunkers lurking throughout. Water doesn't come into play too often but the elevation changes will provide plenty of challenges. The golf course is player friendly enough to accommodate a wide range of skill levels with a few tricky holes to keep the round interesting.

Greens need work
Had a decent amount of bad spots on the greens and was kind of disappointed in that. I’ve seen Providence Club in great shape and am sure they will get it back to that soon.
Great layout , a good challenge
The course is a good challenge for all levels. You have to hit all clubs in your bag.
Fun day
fast greens, course in very good conditions, excellent staff
Some greens were slower than normal.
No 1 green still not good condition yet.
Overall we all enjoyed playing the course today.
Course seemed well manicured, staff was friendly, I will be playing there more often.
Hey, it was $30
I probably shouldn’t even review this course. It was $30, and we were playing on a rain check from the previous trip when it rained and, waited it out then, the guy running the place told us we had to leave because of the member day coming up the next day. The big thing is that we had a threesome hitting balls at us for 18 holes. We were a twosome and had a slow threesome in front of us and, we were playing patiently (like gentlemen golfers do) and the hackers behind us kept spraying balls everywhere behind us. They knew we were waiting and kept them coming. I know that it’s normal for courses around Athens, like Lane Creek and Victoria Bryant and this course is following the mold. The greens are tiny and shaggy. Fairways are already brown, and no amenities to be seen. They do have water jugs! Also, we were only supposed to be paying $28 and the guy there charged us $30 and, it’s not a big deal but, just the principal. He knew the price that we booked the course for. There’s not a real difference and, I knew that I wasn’t going back but, he didn’t get away with anything. I may sound angry but, I am not. It’s a $30 round. I wouldn’t go at a time and pay more than that.
Very nice course!
Course was in great condition. Everyone was extremely welcoming and nice. Pace was a little slow on the back 9, but I was playing as a single and didn't mind.
Worth the Drive
About an hour northeast of Atlanta you will find a beauty of a course. It was a little wet the day I played, but carts were 90 degrees. This is a challenging course which will make you use every club in the back. I highly recommend playing this course just be sure to watch out for hole #4. It's longer than it looks. I will play it again.
Good Times
Greens were in super shape. Several short cut opportunities for low scoring...risk v reward shots. For the value...great course!
Good course for the money
This is a great layout at a value price. Friendly people and reasonable pace of play. I would recommend it to my friends.
They lost control this Saturday afternoon
I play this course regularly as a retired senior golfer, primarily during the week. A working friend asked me to play on Saturday. We had no carts for 30 minutes for 12:33 tee time, made on golf now and teed off 30 minutes late. On many holes there were 4 groups, I called to complain when we had 5 groups on #13. I was told the marshal had gone home, but never saw one at anytime. I was told there was a tournament that morning and I know these things generally really slow the place of play... but that can be avoided with a good marshal keeping people moving. Providence Club lost control of the situation and never tried to fix it.... I play there all the time and you guys can do better than today. I hope someone reads this that takes care of such matters, as a tournament and that income will drive away regular players. Get your Marshall out there and if players are slow AND have been warned move them to where they should be.
Sat July 21st - rainy morning for sure
We had gotten several inch's of rain that morning the course was closed temporarily. Eventually opened and we got out to play 18. The staff went out of their way to apologize but I understood Mom Nature played a role in this. They had people out with blowers drying the greens and ensuring all the down trees / limbs were cleaned up before cutting us loose. These folks care about the course and the people that play here - awesome job.
A good course for the money, great staff and well kept
Well worth the trip, this is a course you will enjoy
