Providence Club
About
Conveniently situated between Athens and Lawrenceville, the Providence Club has a scenic location stretching right along the Appalachee River that makes it feel much more like a getaway. The golf course has been considered one of northeast Georgia's best since opening in 1998. The layout takes advantage of the rolling terrain, incorporating elevated tees and uneven lies. The greens often feature slopes and undulations but they are fair and they roll true. They are also known for being excellently maintained. Mature trees frame many of the holes and there are several strategically placed bunkers lurking throughout. Water doesn't come into play too often but the elevation changes will provide plenty of challenges. The golf course is player friendly enough to accommodate a wide range of skill levels with a few tricky holes to keep the round interesting.

Sat July 21st - rainy morning for sure
We had gotten several inch's of rain that morning the course was closed temporarily. Eventually opened and we got out to play 18. The staff went out of their way to apologize but I understood Mom Nature played a role in this. They had people out with blowers drying the greens and ensuring all the down trees / limbs were cleaned up before cutting us loose. These folks care about the course and the people that play here - awesome job.
A good course for the money, great staff and well kept
Well worth the trip, this is a course you will enjoy
Great Condition
Although I played awful, the course is in great condition. The fairways and rough have excellent grass and the greens recovery from a recent aeration is very good.
A++ staff friendliness
I was late for my tee time, but the starter was understanding and very accommodating. Great people running this course. The greens weee so so, but the rest of the course was in excellent condition.
The course requires accuracy
The greens were good not great. They had been aerated recently. Overall it was a good experience.
Great morning
Had early 8:12 tee time and played before the high heat. The fairways cut good an first rough cut fair so that you do not loose balls. I need this wide open course and rarely hit the middle of the fairway, Great value and excellent staff.
Providence
Great course, in excellent shape! Highly recommend.
Thursday July 5th 2018
Great day on this course, a little under 3 1/4 hours is great during the week. Greens are in good condition and coming in nicely considering all the rain. Fairways are true and bunkers actually have sand in them unlike other courses around Atlanta.
Go play this track you will not be disappointed
Providence in 3 Hours
Providence rarely disappoints. I was able to get off work a little early and decided to play 18 on a Tuesday. There were a few foursomes in front of me that let me play through. I was able to play 18 in just under 3 hours.
The course was in great condition. As usual the greens are fast, but consistent.
Not bad, not ideal, fun course to play
Providence is a nice track that I’ve played many times, but this is the 1st of this golf season.
If I could breakdown the conditions on a scale of 1 to 5 with 5 being the best…I would do it as such.
Tees…5, every tee box was fully grassed in and nicely mowed.
Fairways…4, considering there had been a great deal of rain passed thru, they were in great shape
Bunkers…4, only entered one bunker, but all seemed to have an ample amount of sand, raked, etc.
Green complexes…3, nicely mowed fringe fronting most greens, many of them were kind of soft so run up shots were 50/50 at best. Carry the ball to the green became the theme of the day. The greens themselves were just okay…back 9 was better than the front for sure. Based on other Champions Bermuda courses or whatever that strain is we’ve been playing recently, I was expecting better and these have been better….playable, I wouldn’t stay away because it, but not ideal.
For those that haven’t played it…not long. Most bogey to mid 80 players will probably chose the blue tee box. Lots of elevation change and a fair amount of hazards create a healthy challenge, yet fun and a course you can score on.
We'll be back.
Well above expectations
Fairways are wide, forgiving and firm. Well trimmed and remarkably dry considering the amount of rain in the summer weather pattern this year. Their drainage is better than any other course I've played making contact with the ball possible without getting a face full of mud. Greens are well groomed and somewhat soft rolling at about a 9 or 10. The back 9 is a wonderful walking opportunity with short stoles from green to next tee; front 9 has some long walks between greens and next tee. I don't walk because of my knee, but I look forward to the day I can. The only negative I can mention is the driving/practice facilities are small and incomplete (no bunker or pitching practice facilities)
Good course for the money
Tee boxes and fairways are in great shape. Some of the greens are rough in spots. Most of the greens were in pretty good shape. Overall good course for the money.
greens were not in very good shape
course was in great shape except greens are in bad shape especially for the price
greens in bad shape
greens are not good for all the rain we have had.
#1 is horrible for a course this nice.
love this course but will not come back fo awhile due to greens.
