Providence Club
About
Conveniently situated between Athens and Lawrenceville, the Providence Club has a scenic location stretching right along the Appalachee River that makes it feel much more like a getaway. The golf course has been considered one of northeast Georgia's best since opening in 1998. The layout takes advantage of the rolling terrain, incorporating elevated tees and uneven lies. The greens often feature slopes and undulations but they are fair and they roll true. They are also known for being excellently maintained. Mature trees frame many of the holes and there are several strategically placed bunkers lurking throughout. Water doesn't come into play too often but the elevation changes will provide plenty of challenges. The golf course is player friendly enough to accommodate a wide range of skill levels with a few tricky holes to keep the round interesting.

Good value
It was cold this week and had rained last week, but course drains much better than some others in area. The greens were a little fuzzy but for this time of year, a good place to play.
Excellent Value
Still early in the season. This course should certainly be a 5 across the board once the fairways green up and the greens come back.
Great Course for the money
First time out this year and a good time. Only issue was slow players making the front 9 long. Other than ta it is a great course to play
Feb 24th
Ended up following the the association outing. That group never gets started on time and is incredibly slow over 5 hours is too long. Next time I will check if they are playing I will either play in front of them or pass on the course and find another place even though it is my favorite track in the area that was painful.
Great deal
As soon as the nice weather returns and the greens recover this will be a top course on my list for sure.
Good for the price
We got to play for $20 so I can't complain about much based on the price. However, the greens are gone at this point in the year. It is pretty much dirt painted green. Lines are difficult to hold based on the bumpiness and they are extremely fast. The layout is challenging for an amateur and the fairways are in good shape. Will play again, but looking forward to grass growing on the greens .
Great Time for a great price
We've played here a few times on a Hot Deal. Fun course and a challenge great laid back atmosphere
Well maintained course
This is the best value in the eastern part of Atlanta. Grounds are in unbelievable shape for winter. Played both the Stone Mountain courses lately and there is no comparison, Providence is well worth the drive to Monroe.
Friendly staff and members.
A nice day to play golf!
Well it’s the middle of January so all the Bermuda grass is dead but the weather was better than perfect! The course didn’t overseed the greens so instead they’ve painted the dead Bermuda greens this turquoise-green color. They rolled the greens enough where it’s fairly fast but the dead grass just leads to rough surfaces so there aren’t many putts that roll true. Providence is a great course when the warmer months come and the conditions are more ideal. Right now, it feels like an unmaintained municipal course. If you need a cheap place to play and course conditions aren’t as important to you, then providence is your pick for January and February!
Horrible Greens
The greens were in horrible shape. Of course we didn’t know of of this until we played our 1st hole. Pretty much dirt painted green. The pace of play was super slow. No Marshall in sight. Group in front of us kept waiting on an open green before teeing off. They were delisonlal thinking they could drive par 4’s and hit the green of a par 5 in 2. If it hadn’t of been for the slow play by the shankers, we could have finished our round well before dark. As it was, we had to leave after 13 holes. Doubtful Ill play this course again without a warning of the terrible green conditions. Over all a bummer. Waste of money.
Great Layout
For my first time playing the course, it was a delight. The fairways and greens were in great shape, even though frozen when my round began. The hole layouts are both challenging and forgiving, making for a great day of fun. Staff is available, friendly, and ready to serve.
Well kept and friendly
Providence has become my favorite course in the last 4 weeks. Well kept with challenging holes but not too long and full of hazards that you can’t enjoy. My favorite part of the experience is the staff and the golfers on the course. Most friendly group of people I have ever met.
Course should have mentioned...
Great place to play, but today took over 5 hours to play. Worse, they had cut the greens down to the dirt, and over seeded... Luckily, they did a good job of rolling down the greens, so it was not as bad as it could have been - still though, had putts break 45 degrees unexpectedly from time to time, but I have to say, the putts rolled well over all.. This is normally a great course to play. I would not have been nearly as disappointed if they had communicated the greens situation, and I still would have played the course... But, you may want to wait until the new greens are in if you
are paying full price to play...
Feel good atmosphere
