Providence Club
About
Conveniently situated between Athens and Lawrenceville, the Providence Club has a scenic location stretching right along the Appalachee River that makes it feel much more like a getaway. The golf course has been considered one of northeast Georgia's best since opening in 1998. The layout takes advantage of the rolling terrain, incorporating elevated tees and uneven lies. The greens often feature slopes and undulations but they are fair and they roll true. They are also known for being excellently maintained. Mature trees frame many of the holes and there are several strategically placed bunkers lurking throughout. Water doesn't come into play too often but the elevation changes will provide plenty of challenges. The golf course is player friendly enough to accommodate a wide range of skill levels with a few tricky holes to keep the round interesting.

Feel good atmosphere
Nice people, great course, I had a great day at there
Club, great course & sraff
Great value course
Providence has always been one of my favorite courses. There are some very challenging holes, and a couple that, if you are willing to take a chance, you can really score on. Its reasonably priced, and you can usually get a deal on GolfNow. My ONLY complaint would be that there are two pin positions on two holes that don't reward a good shot. The require an almost impossible shot, and then a very difficult putt. Unless you put it less than three feet away on your second shot, you won't par the hole. Otherwise, I love the course!
Hidden Jewel
Hidden jewel of a course located north of 78 on your way to Athens. Great layout and the course is well maintained with a friendly easy going welcoming staff and members. The length is good for any hitter with 5 tee choices. Challenging course without the heavy undergrowth in the roughs. Greens were a little hard and had been treated but still playable. I will be going back to this course tomorrow on a regular basis even though the drive is about 45 min for me. Nice to be able to sample courses with the hot deals to see if you like them and I certainly liked this one.
Great Course to score low on
Have played here for years. Very friendly course lay out. You may shoot one of your best games on as it is not real difficult or long. The greens were questionable as they were brown? and like putting on concrete. Not sure bout the condition of greens which are usually very good. Very friendly and accomadating staff.
Nice track
Overall conditions very good, shorter track even from the tips, really liked the greens, they were firm and fast, rolled out nice
BLESSED DAY OF GOLF
First round back in a long time. I have been blessed to play many nice courses and this was an absolute pleasure to play. This course offers many different kinds of holes that will build your ability to adapt and overcome. I look forward to returning soon.
Good track
Conditions were good no starter. Backed up on 1st T and stayed backed up whole round. Pro shop and check in very nice
Fun and challenging course in great condition
I really like the course and the lay out. The range is short and has old worn out mats to hit off. The range leaves a lot to be desired, however. there is a grass just to the side of the mats, but not allowed to use. it's hard to get something to eat from the snack bar. I went in there twice, and had to hunt and search for someone to help me get a snack and drinks. The cart paths are VERY rough and bumpy. I thought I hurt my back from so many bumps and jolts while on the cart paths.
- The greens are great (very smooth, fast roll true and tough to putt due to slopes and undulations).
- Many holes have long, forced carries off the tee which adds an extra challenge to the course
- Lots up up and down elevation changes
- if you haven't played Providence Club, check it out, you'll be glad you did. It is a fun, challenging course for a great price.
Nice course, super fast greens
Tee boxes are flat, fairways very nice, greens are VERY fast. Great course layout and pace of play was excellent. Scores are higher than usual due to difficult putting as putts have to be precise due to fast greens. Will definitely be back though.
Overgrown, needs mowing/raking
Unless they're getting ready for a US Open, the rough is unsatisfactory. Evidently, they are having trouble getting labor to cut grass. rough was very high is many places where it shouldn't be. I spent a lot of time looking for balls that weren't more than 5-10 paces off the fairway because the grass was so high. Many places had grass 5-6" deep and you'd have to just about step on your ball to find it. Other places had been mowed when grass was tall and wet leaving large clumps of dead grass on top so a ball barely off the fairway would be lost from sight.
Always liked this course but may not every go back.
nice average course
i love the course and the lay out. the range is short and has old wore out mats to hit off of. there is a grass area, but not allowed to use it. it's hard to get something to eat from the snack bar in the afternoons, because they send the girl home when it is slow. the club house has been renovated recently, which is nice. bottom line, what makes this course nice is the greens. they always roll true and are reasonable fast, they even heal quickly. if you haven't played it check it out, you'll be glad you did.
Great layout
Course was challenging on some holes and others set up was not quite as challenging. Not a local, but a great place to play. Staff always friendly and accommodating. Will be back !!
