Providence Club
About
Conveniently situated between Athens and Lawrenceville, the Providence Club has a scenic location stretching right along the Appalachee River that makes it feel much more like a getaway. The golf course has been considered one of northeast Georgia's best since opening in 1998. The layout takes advantage of the rolling terrain, incorporating elevated tees and uneven lies. The greens often feature slopes and undulations but they are fair and they roll true. They are also known for being excellently maintained. Mature trees frame many of the holes and there are several strategically placed bunkers lurking throughout. Water doesn't come into play too often but the elevation changes will provide plenty of challenges. The golf course is player friendly enough to accommodate a wide range of skill levels with a few tricky holes to keep the round interesting.

Good for the price
We got to play for $20 so I can't complain about much based on the price. However, the greens are gone at this point in the year. It is pretty much dirt painted green. Lines are difficult to hold based on the bumpiness and they are extremely fast. The layout is challenging for an amateur and the fairways are in good shape. Will play again, but looking forward to grass growing on the greens .
Great Time for a great price
We've played here a few times on a Hot Deal. Fun course and a challenge great laid back atmosphere
Well maintained course
This is the best value in the eastern part of Atlanta. Grounds are in unbelievable shape for winter. Played both the Stone Mountain courses lately and there is no comparison, Providence is well worth the drive to Monroe.
Friendly staff and members.
A nice day to play golf!
Well it’s the middle of January so all the Bermuda grass is dead but the weather was better than perfect! The course didn’t overseed the greens so instead they’ve painted the dead Bermuda greens this turquoise-green color. They rolled the greens enough where it’s fairly fast but the dead grass just leads to rough surfaces so there aren’t many putts that roll true. Providence is a great course when the warmer months come and the conditions are more ideal. Right now, it feels like an unmaintained municipal course. If you need a cheap place to play and course conditions aren’t as important to you, then providence is your pick for January and February!
Horrible Greens
The greens were in horrible shape. Of course we didn’t know of of this until we played our 1st hole. Pretty much dirt painted green. The pace of play was super slow. No Marshall in sight. Group in front of us kept waiting on an open green before teeing off. They were delisonlal thinking they could drive par 4’s and hit the green of a par 5 in 2. If it hadn’t of been for the slow play by the shankers, we could have finished our round well before dark. As it was, we had to leave after 13 holes. Doubtful Ill play this course again without a warning of the terrible green conditions. Over all a bummer. Waste of money.
Great Layout
For my first time playing the course, it was a delight. The fairways and greens were in great shape, even though frozen when my round began. The hole layouts are both challenging and forgiving, making for a great day of fun. Staff is available, friendly, and ready to serve.
Well kept and friendly
Providence has become my favorite course in the last 4 weeks. Well kept with challenging holes but not too long and full of hazards that you can’t enjoy. My favorite part of the experience is the staff and the golfers on the course. Most friendly group of people I have ever met.
Course should have mentioned...
Great place to play, but today took over 5 hours to play. Worse, they had cut the greens down to the dirt, and over seeded... Luckily, they did a good job of rolling down the greens, so it was not as bad as it could have been - still though, had putts break 45 degrees unexpectedly from time to time, but I have to say, the putts rolled well over all.. This is normally a great course to play. I would not have been nearly as disappointed if they had communicated the greens situation, and I still would have played the course... But, you may want to wait until the new greens are in if you
are paying full price to play...
Feel good atmosphere
Nice people, great course, I had a great day at there
Club, great course & sraff
Great value course
Providence has always been one of my favorite courses. There are some very challenging holes, and a couple that, if you are willing to take a chance, you can really score on. Its reasonably priced, and you can usually get a deal on GolfNow. My ONLY complaint would be that there are two pin positions on two holes that don't reward a good shot. The require an almost impossible shot, and then a very difficult putt. Unless you put it less than three feet away on your second shot, you won't par the hole. Otherwise, I love the course!
Hidden Jewel
Hidden jewel of a course located north of 78 on your way to Athens. Great layout and the course is well maintained with a friendly easy going welcoming staff and members. The length is good for any hitter with 5 tee choices. Challenging course without the heavy undergrowth in the roughs. Greens were a little hard and had been treated but still playable. I will be going back to this course tomorrow on a regular basis even though the drive is about 45 min for me. Nice to be able to sample courses with the hot deals to see if you like them and I certainly liked this one.
Great Course to score low on
Have played here for years. Very friendly course lay out. You may shoot one of your best games on as it is not real difficult or long. The greens were questionable as they were brown? and like putting on concrete. Not sure bout the condition of greens which are usually very good. Very friendly and accomadating staff.
Nice track
Overall conditions very good, shorter track even from the tips, really liked the greens, they were firm and fast, rolled out nice
