Country Club of Gwinnett

I can't believe the nearly 4-start rating for this golf course in the Reviews. I played based on some of the prior comments and self-description by the golf course. "In addition to our well-maintained championship golf course..." The course is nowhere near well-maintained. Tons of bare spots on the fairway edges mostly. Bunkers need more sand. Tee boxes need work. At least the greens were in very good condition. "New management is doing a great job, by investing and upgrading the course." Where? I saw no evidence of upgrading the course. ZERO. "The course itself is well maintained." Again, bologna. And the layout, it is ridiculous for most holes, with there being 3-4 exceptions. "Rolling terrain?" How about just saying "hilly." Lots of uphill shots, lots of downhill lies, lots of sidehill lies, lots of sloping fairways where, with the extremely dry and hard conditions, keeping your ball in the fairway on many holes is a great challenge in and of itself. And when you have par-5's where you can't hit your driver because after 250-260 yards you drop off a hill or get into a hazard? Stupid. I was sorely disappointed. But hey, at least they are spending money on the clubhouse, right?

new carts and course conditions are much improved since last time I went. heard they got new owners!!

New management is doing a great job, by investing and upgrading the course. Already replaced the golf carts and opening a new kitchen in the clubhouse. The course itself is well maintained and hopefully they will be able to repair some areas of the cart paths..

This is a short course, but plenty to like about it. I liked the consistency of the greens. They are bit slow, but consistent and smooth. There is not crazy undulation in greens but enough break and slope to make it interesting.

The pace of play was excellent and when I came up on a group, they were quick to let me play through.

Due to recent lack of rain the fairways were hard an fast.

There are some areas that really need some work, a lot of erosian issues around the course and cart paths really need help. Hopefully the new ownership will begin to address these issues.

I was pleasantly surprised. With the new ownership I expected the course to be a mess. It was better than expectations. They still have major watering issues and are quickly losing much of their grass to heat because of it. They have water leaks all over the course which will eat your ball in the middle of the fairway. Can’t believe these have not yet been fixed.

To my knowledge there are no marshalls. One day a sixsome held up the back nine taking the front round 1:15 to a total round over 4:00. We called the clubhouse to request they be broken up to no avail as no one answered The calls! There were six groups held up by this. The second day, a very slow threesome held up 4 foursomes and they would not speed up. Again no marshalls.

I hope a little rain and some policing are a part of the improvement process!

The New Management and Leadership are doing a GREAT JOB re-energizing the Country Club.

- The small changes are making a HUGE DIFFERENCE and the new cart are a welcomed relief

- I'm looking forward to the Great Things they have in stored for the Country Club of Gwinnett

This course was recommended. I tried to contact staff prior to arrival with no success.. Operator said number disconnected . I purchase round for three and we all felt the same for the price of $70 can’t be too bad. This was the first time I experienced a golf course that rain out of food after advertising specials for food. The problem was that they had no sort of snack after play. The latrines on the course need to be torn down. This course should be close for renovation.

Play here 2-3X per year. Good layout. But short. Very wooded and hilly, tough to keep grass in the rough, many tree roots. Tee boxes are typically poor, fairways and greens are nice. Good to play once in a while.

No water in water containers with weather at 100degree.
