Stone Mountain Golf Club boasts 36 holes of championship golf that are a part of Stone Mountain Park, which is one of the Southeast's most popular attractions. The Lakemont Course winds around the beautiful Stone Mountain Lake through forests of Georgia pines and hardwoods. John LaFoy, a native of the state, designed the golf course. He incorporated his signature mounding and dramatic bunkering, which is enhanced even further by the wildly undulating terrain. The lake is more prominent on the front nine where water comes into play on six holes. The back nine still features water on four holes, but there are more rocky outcroppings, providing different but equally stunning scenery. Stunning mountain views can be enjoyed from every hole and golfers will also be able to glimpse the famous Confederate memorial carving featuring Robert E. Lee, Jefferson Davis, and Stonewall Jackson.

A great year-round course

The Lakemont course at Stone Mountain is one of my favorite courses to play! The views are great and the course is in phenomenal shape! I play a lot of mud-grade courses and for the money, there is no better value!

Beautiful course in Stone Mountain Park

This is one of my favorite courses to play in the Atlanta area, usually a little bit of a splurge but worth the money. Beautiful layout around the lake within Stone Mountain Park. Be prepared to pay for your car to get into the park, but it’s worth coming back so I get the annual pass. Greens and fairways are challenging but nicely kept. Gorgeous scenery and consistently friendly & casual staff. I think this one has it over its sister course, Stone Mount as the lake shots and views totally enhance the experience. Both don’t play too easy, that’s for sure so ya gotta take ‘er easy and abide your shots, Dudes.

Whole course is in bad shape

Clubhouse and snack bars were nice. Staff was great. Course was terrible. Half the greens were wet all day, the other half bone dry, all of them way to hard and firm. Water erosion all over the fairways. Bunkers were unkept and covered in leaves.

Mixed Bag

The front 9 is very pretty the back very average. The two are very different in style and a bit separated from each other. Could easily get turned around on the drive from the 9th green to the 10th tee.

Good course but Marshals needed

Overall, I enjoy playing Lakemont…good condition, interesting layout and beautiful views. However, the past few times we’ve played, pace of play has been a real issue with seemingly no Marshals in sight except for the 1st Hole Starters. They need to have active Marshals patrolling the course to encourage golfers to keep pace, pick up after triple bogey and avoid ball hawking in the woods…our rounds recent rounds have been 5+ hours due to the consistent log jam of golfers, even with morning tee times. Today, we decided to pick up at Hole 12 due to the extremely slow pace that was only getting worse with each hole. I am unsure we will be back until they can resolve the pace of play issue and implement effective Marshals.
