Stonemont at Stone Mountain Golf Course
About
Stone Mountain Golf Club sits at the base of one of the Southeast's most popular attractions, Stone Mountain. The club offers two 18-hole courses, Lakemont and Stonemont. The Stonemont Course is the club's original layout, designed by Robert Trent Jones. The gentle hills surrounding the mountain provide the golf course with rolling fairways and greens. The contours are subtle, but they can be deceiving. The classic but tricky layout requires careful strategy and course management in addition to accuracy. The course is routed around the mountain and its accompanying lake, weaving through dense forests of Georgia pine. The layout features narrow fairways, but one of the most challenging features are the numerous bunkers strategically placed throughout. Since opening in 1969, Stone Mountain's Stonemont Course has hosted numerous events, both local and national.

Too expensive
Our group played both Stonemont and Lakemont 2 or 3 times a month until a few years ago. We loved both courses but the prices got too high. Surrounding courses are $40-50 and the conditions and courses are just as good. Paying $75 to $85 on a Saturday morning just can't be justified.
I wish they would lower the prices for tee times or have reasonable annual memberships for regular players as they used to.
Difficult Course
Difficult course with lots of slopes and hilly terrain. Definitely recommend Lakemont if you're looking for something easier. However, my group really enjoyed playing Stonemont and the course conditions were fantastic. In fact, I think these were some of the best tee box conditions that I've seen in a while.
The green conditions were great except for the fact that today was so windy which caused lots of leaves/pine needles to fall on the greens. Not much can be done about that though.
Pace of play was good- my group of 3 finished our round in just over 4 hours. There was very minimal waiting.
I'll most certainly be back to give myself a challenge again.
Great course, great layout. Very well maintained.
Lakemont course is more hilly (up and down) and narrower fairways than Stonemont course; and that’s what makes this golf course amazing!!!
Disappointed
There was no one at the bag drop to receive my bag ????
Shocked that after paying almost $100 for the round I had the pleasure of picking my cart and loading it up myself. No one was available to give me directions of where to find the first tee. It was also pretty alarming that I had to pay an additional $20 to enter the park . Very slow inconsistent green - almost like putting on carpet. Spectacular views , the only pleasant person was the starter. Just wasn’t what I expected on such a beautiful Saturday morning. Maybe I came on a bad day but sad to say that was truly my experience
One of the Best Layouts in GA
I grew up in Stone Mountain and played Stonemont regularly until I moved away. From the black tees, this is one of the best layouts in the state and still one of my most favorite golf courses. 6900 yards, par 70, thick rough and smallish greens. Also, hit it straight off the tee. No homes on the course (some development outside #8 but a peaceful track.
If they could get the greens rolling at a decent speed, this track is a beast! Being hot and sun exposed, the bentgrass greens were a bit shaggy but still true.... everything breaks towards the mountain. I love this track and will be back again in the fall to play again.
Marshall was annoying
Marshall was constantly stopping by to tell us to pick up the pace. I was playing in an older foursome and we were not holding up the group behind us. No we weren't on top of the twosome in front of us and were never going to be. Didn't pay almost $80 for a round to rush through it to keep up with a smaller group. Not to mention the starter was going to have us play with a 5th person in our group! How slow would that have been? For the price and the constant aggravation, I will go elsewhere for a better experience.
Steamy and beautiful
Amazing course and facilities! I will take family and friends here moving forward. Starters were were nice and helpful ! Never saw beverage cart and we were ready for drinks and h2o as it was hot, luckily I brought a cooler
Excellent course and would highly recommend it. Was a little disappointed that the pro shop and club house closed so early.
