Layout Nice, Needs TLC
The layout of the course it nice, needs some TLC (sand bunkers, sidewalks and areas around the tee box).
Soggy fairways
I like smoke rise a lot because of all the doglegs that make it a challenging course. I was a bit disappointed by how soggy everything was after a previous days rain. I'm not sure if its in their plan to fix the irrigation but I'd wait until it was a good sunny couple days before playing.
Apart from that they've taken some time to improve the carts and they are one of the only courses I've been to that had the beverage cart show up more than once so kuddos there.
All in all i like the course and I'll play here many more times.

Needs help
I like the layout of Smoke Ride. I like the practice faculty. The GPS golf carts are the best in town. The course needs help. Greens are rough, tee boxes are like sand traps and the sand traps (90%) of them are not playable. The way they move pins around is lazy. Green plastic cups mark the 4-5 spots they move the pins. The good sand traps are never raked. Players do not repair divots or ball marks. The cart paths are in horrible shape. Even bottomed out on one. The snack bar is over priced Kinda over defending and supporting this course. Going to wait until Spring kicks in.

Disappointed
I have played this course a couple years ago. Was not happy with the poor course condition played only 9 holes. Hopefully, the course upgrades promised will happen soon.
Poorly kept course
Bunkers are not playable. Weeds all over fairways. Plastic cylinders on greens to cover prior day holes. This used to be a nice course but I really don’t expect it to be around very much longer under current management. They’ve clearly given up.

Poor Overall Course Conditions
Pros:
-Greens were in good shape given the price of the round and weather conditions
-Driving range and putting/chipping green were good
-Golf carts had ball cleaners, club head cleaners, and divot repair sand in each cart
Cons:
-Fairways were in terrible shape, either you were hitting in dirt or at best, very patchy grass
-Most bunkers looked like they were never maintained, with weeds growing all over many and standing water in others
-Cart paths looked like an earthquake hit the course, and our cart almost got stuck at one point on the cart path
-Signage was very poor, we had a hard time finding multiple holes throughout our round
-Course design is a bit wonky, with dog legs almost every other hole and a lot of obstructed views
-At the turn, I went to the clubhouse to get a sandwich. I was offered a burger (with a side of chips), which I ended up paying $19 for which seemed outrageous as the burger was simply microwaved.

Best customer service
My son and I played this golf course for the first time. I have not received a welcome at a pro shop as nice as I received when we checked in. The pro and starter were very gracious when they learned it was our first time there. They made sure we had everything needed to enjoy the round. I have played many courses in my lifetime but was never treated as well as I was at this course. They seemed to really appreciate your business.
The course was challenging but we enjoyed our round. Will definitely go back when in the area.

They ran out of carts?
I grew up in Smoke Rise. As a kid, my family had a membership here, which my Dad canceled due to incompetent management. Lately, I have been thrilled to get to play Smoke Rise again with my buddies using GolfNow. However, management seems to be over-booking the course, and the pace of play is significantly slower than what I remember. Specifically, I booked a 4-some for 2:24 PM last Saturday. My buddies and I arrive, timely, and attempt to check in. We are told that there is only ONE cart available, but the pro shop is expecting another cart to arrive any minute. Finally, 31 minutes later, another player returned with a cart for us to use. Consequently, we did not tee off until well after 3:00 PM, and were unable to finish our round before dark. This is simply unacceptable, even for a discounted, twilight reservation on GolfNow. And, this type of lackluster management is exactly why my Dad quit this club nearly 10 years ago. Get it together, Smoke Rise!

Decent value and greens in good shape
The greens are in pretty good shape and running reasonably fast. However, the fairways, tee boxes, and cart paths are a mess. The terrain is extremely hilly so it's difficult to find anything close to a flat lie. I would've given 4 stars but they charged me $7 for a bucket of like 30 range balls that were in absolute terrible shape.
