Good course for winter play
Overall the course was in good condition for the winter weather. The course is very hilly as it is on a mountain.
The cart paths were in bad shape in some areas. The carts are great, with ball cleaner, club cleaner, ice chest and gps screen with distance to the flag and course maps.
I purchased this tee time through golfnow, so I have no complaints; good value for this course.

Course in rugged shape due to rain, concrete crumbling in cart paths
Very dangerous. Lots of narrow bridges, crumbling concrete cart paths, etc. no signage on certain holes so golfer can’t figure where next hole or path to take.. Needs a lot of work.

Disappointing to read reviews
In it's hayday this was one of Atlanta's finest courses. It is very disappointing to read the reviews. I have played here many times but not recently and would not. Horrible to read how low it has gotten and the players reviews of the course.. Just sad to see it get down to the condition it is in. Know before you go is all I can say.

Layout
It’s nothing to do with the people or the management. The layout just suck. It’s too narrow and not fun for someone who likes to hit more than a 6 iron off the tee. Good staff, nice greens, awful course. The back 9 is a drastic improvement from the front but still jsut mediocre.

Looking Good
Course has really turned a corner. Greens are brutally fast but roll true. Still needs a bit of work on some tees and approaches, but nothing too troubling. Always a challenging layout, especially in the cold and wind, but very enjoyable round.

Smoke Rise
I thought the club and course where very nice. The first time playing this course is very difficult in my opinion. There are many dog legs to contend with and shot making is necessary. Several holes you couldn't see where your ball landed or what to expect. I did enjoy the course and will probably try it again in the near future.

Improving
Played 11-11-21. Greens we're smooth and fairly quick. Fairways beginning to go dormant but good. Tee boxes sanded and a little bare but ok. Saw multiple grounds guys out there working hard to get rid of leaves, chop down brush, mowing, etc. The bunkers going back to nature really aren't in play anyway. Lady in pro shop is super nice. It's a fair deal for $40 and it's much improved since late summer.
