Southland Golf & Country Club

Half course closed for aeration & we were not told this prior to booking tee time. Played holes 4-12 twice. Cart paths in bad shape & fairways terrible. Greens for the holes we played were in good shape.

Pros..

Course was in decent shape.

Greens were smooth

The gentleman inside as well the young man who collected the cart at the end of the round were ok to deal with. Respectful and courteous.

Cons..

Pace of play. Multiple 5somes that made the round almost 5 hrs

While the greens were smooth most pin locations were on side hills and.many putts would just roll back down by your feet. Also they were no more than 2-3 paces from the fringe.

Middle of summer, no coolers, no cart person, no halfway house as the front 9 doesnt wrap around back to clubhouse.

Sand traps were more like mud pits.

Overall I feel like the price was slightly too high but i made that choice. Most likely wont return.

They had no carts available! We didn’t play and ended up going to another course. Hopefully they can get their cart issues solved. We didn’t play so don’t know how good shape the course is in. Peace!

To start off with, I had to wait 20 minutes for the person to even pay (arrived at 835) for a 9am tee time. Wanted to putt before going out, but that was not going to happen.

Then he scolded me for putting my bag on a cart when I arrived. The bag drop, if you want to call it that, is broken and in pieces. There is no where else to put your bag and they do not allow carts to go to your car. The guy claimed an issue was a shortage of carts and my bag was an issue, at 9am, seriously?

I use to play there frequently, but doubtful I will ever play there again. Rude and arrogant was the staff member, never have I been treated this way in all my years and I am a very laid back person!

9:40 tee time. Showed up at 9:10. No carts available. $12 for cracked never cleaned range balls. 6 carts on 1st tee. Place looks awful. Do not recommend.

First review on this app. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. We booked a time on a Saturday for 11:30. I got there at 10:30 to hit the “range”. I said I would pay for my round as well and the guy at the counter said “you might want to hold off on paying right now you might be tired of waiting.” Obviously I was confused then he pointed outside and said “all of those people are waiting for carts and people to finish” there was like 25 people waiting for carts. We had to pivot and go to Smokerise who luckily had a tee time. Absolute joke of a course I don’t know how they are still in business.

Southland is a great golfing value in the Atlanta area. It is an older course that is maintained fairly well.

Really enjoyable course. Pace of play wasn't an issue which is rare in the greater Atlanta area, especially for public courses on a Saturday. Will definitely play again

Good to see fairway is being watered.

Love the greens

Greens were excellent. Sand bunkers were horrible.

In what is my first negative review I've ever left on a platform, I need to warn people before they play at Southland. To start the day, we were on the putting green and got yelled at by the starter that he'd move people past our start time if we didn't go to the first tee when our actual tee time was not for another 15 minutes and there was no one behind us.

Following this, we were given cart #18. We mentioned the cart was braking poorly but were told that it's fine. Fast forward to the third hole and the brakes completely failed. We were going down the hill and could not stop and as we realized we were about to hit a tree, we tried to swerve and our cart flipped over. Thankfully we both saw it happening and braced our fall and got up with some scrapes and bruises but were otherwise fine. When the pro shop was called, it seemed as if they knew the cart had issues and still sent us on our way. The course is truly lucky that no one was seriously injured and apparently this is not the first time it has happened.

Aside from this already awful start, the course is in awful shape aside from the greens. Zero maintenance done with all bunkers full of water and weeds

The course is very much worth a round of golf. The greens were in excellent shape and the fairways had grass that was cut correctly. Great value.

Where do you start., Don’t know what happened here the last 6 weeks but must have new owners. Not sure ,however, a employee was totally rude to customers today ..one had to the use the restroom and a blonde lady said we are CLOSED you can’t come in ….sorry private property so no bathroom use while holding the door half way open!

4 regulars went next to to the Dekalb course Mystery Valley and didn’t have a problem putting on there green!

Great Course best condition it’s been in 6 years!

Nobody wants to be threatened ….,go to Other courses where your appreciated for being a customer…

Need some work done on the golf carts. They have poor brakes on them. The brake pedal goes to the floor and barely stops the cart.

Only positive thing I can write about this course is the greens. Good shape and speedy. But the tee boxes are not great, and there’s a ton of dead spots and along the fairways. Bunkers are not bunkers. No sand, and filled with water and mud.

Practice area is trash. And the clubhouse/ amenities needs a facelift cause it looks like you show up to a closed abandoned course.

Not one of my favorite courses. But have played several times. This is the best condition I’ve ever seen it. Greens were really good. They have obviously been working on the course and it shows.
