The rough needs to be cut
I’ve played this course a handful of times, and I normally would give it a really great rating. Today, however, was impossible. The rough was so thick that half the time anyone landed in it, you’d lose your ball because it was so hard to find. There’s also no real short grass so if you miss the fairway, you are in 3+ inches of rough.
If I was a PGA tour pro, I’d find this to be an awesome challenge but unfortunately I am not and it made the round extremely difficult.
Course is really sad shape overall.
Greens & fairways were being cut while we played but anything outside a fairway was overgrown & unplayable and that’s if you could find your ball. Very frustrating to an average golfer. No water available except a 9th hole latrine bjuilding. It was in the 90’s temperature range the day we played& I went thru all the Gatorade & water I that brought from my house. Only place to buy and liquids was at the club house but after that you were out of luck. Got the hot deal to play with my son so the price wasn’t an issue. Because of course conditions, any price over $30 per golfer is a rip off..
Cut the grass!!
Lack of good management extremely evident. Once a premier course in Dekalb County. Overgrown grass is ridiculous.
Great layout that needs TLC
Conditions were very average. Great layout, could be fantastic with better care.
Rained out
Me and my son inlaw with his friend booked a 12:40 tee time and was looking forward to playing the course Unfortunately with it pouring down rain here and we called the course they said it was raining for us to call golfnow and get a refund on are hotdeal and rewards we used.so we did and they said they couldn't refund or return the rewards,we love golfnow and use it alot.so I can't really give a review cause we never got the chance to play it,but I did finish the survey so it would let me send it in.thanks we live about 1hr from the course.
Terrible Course
Greens needed to be cut they were spongythe grass needed to be cut all around the course my friend and I said we don’t mind losing a ball or two in the trees but not on the course Golf now shouldn’t even waste there time being a provider for them the carts are trash We both said we never play there again it could be a great course if the owner put money into it
Southland
Fairways have weeds, bunkers are in terrible shape, tee box grass was not cut, trees on the course were not trimmed and the green were not mowed. Holes 15-18 are the best. Overall, I would not recommend this course.
Absolute trash
This course was $47 on a Sunday morning. The condition was terrible, mud bunkers full of rocks, carts were falling apart, tee boxes were mud with no grass, trash everywhere. Goose poop everywhere. This is a $20 course they are way overcharging for.
Needs Work
Greens were in great shape. 9/10.
Fairways 4.5/10
Tee Boxes 3/10
Drinking Water on Course 0/10
Greens in great conditions. Unfortunately that’s the only thing good.
Disappointing is an understatement.
I won’t make this long, arrived to course range was closed due to no balls available. Looked around to see everyone standing around due to no carts being available. Teed off 45 minutes late due to waiting for a cart to become available for our 4some. Course needs serious love. But I won’t be able to give it another chance.
One of the worst golf experiences I’ve had.
This is such a shame because the course has potential. The greens were in pretty good shape all things considered. But course and course management itself made the experience extremely horrid. It’s a blind tee shot course, with no real yardage markers. No coolers on the course, no cart girl or staff, and real TURN. The course is tight and unforgiving. We booked a 11:05 am tee time and didn’t get off until AN HOUR later because we were waiting on carts to be returned. A golf course that books tee times with not enough carts, unreal. Also, range is only 200 yards, thick rough and irons only, with only about 10 bays. No range balls available because a worker was collecting balls, with one of the golf carts. The pace of play was unbelievably slow & in one of the worst parts of Stone Mountain/Georgia. Never again. Very brutal.
Southlands
Course is under new owners and they are doing a very good job of improving the course.. Everyone working their is very courteous and helpful. I will play it several more times.
