Southland Golf & Country Club

Thought this course was in very sad shape. Would not recommend this to anyone. There is no clubhouse at the turn. Course in need of major repair. Tee boxes are junk and you need a hammer to put your tee in ground.

Course greens, fairways, course layout excellent. Staff very friendly. Enjoy playing Southland.

Course condition is quite good, particularly for this time of the year. Maintenance crew clearly have been hard at work and one could see they applied fertilizers and chemicals to improve the fairways and greens (causing some patchiness). Certainly above par compared to many other courses. There have been some wait time for a few golfers as courses typically have to overbook (as there are always a few players who book and do not show up). Last Saturday, about 12 golfers (approximately 4 teams) waited about 30 plus minutes for carts and to tee off as several earlier teams slowed the entire course down (understand many public courses also have golfers wait during the weekends). Otherwise course in good improving condition and overall good enjoyable experience. Highly recommend the course.

I really enjoyed this course. It makes you combine shots and manage the course.

Greens were pretty good, but everything else sucked.

my tee time was at 12:40 and when we got to the course, there were at least 50 people waiting to get carts. They oversold the course so bad that we didn't get off until close to 2:00 PM.

The fairways were horrid and the tee boxes looked like the inside of a barn.

I will never go back. if you could give them 0 stars, that would be too much.

Haven’t played this course in over 2years and was looking forward to playing here. Course in good shape fairways coming along . Greens looking good. They are putting money into course and it shows. Bunkers had sand in them and pace was great. 3 of us played 18 in 3:45 minutes

Can’t wait for warmer weather to really see the improvements.

Check in was great.

Me and a friend came and played on a Sunday. We had a tee time of 2:05. When we got to the course there were no available carts so we had to wait. In the mean time we were going to hit some range balls but we’re informed they didn’t have any. While waiting a 4 some and 3 some arrived and the workers let them play in front of us even when we had the earlier tee time and were there first. We were stuck behind these groups waiting at each hole. The course conditions are very poor. The fairway grass is dead and is patchy with dirt. Greens are fine. Overall for the price it was okay but I will not be back. It took us almost 4 hours to play 18 when our normal pace is 3 hours

The course was in poor taste, greens should have been close down. We only played 14 holes after we paid for 18. Not sure what’s going on but I don’t want to play anymore at the location.

Paid a late afternoon price of $30. Wasn’t expecting much and hadn’t played in a long time, so wasn’t looking for anything superb. To our surprise, the course was great. Fairways were dry and hard so long rolls plus wind. Greens rolled well and were also firm, so not too many divots. Shockingly a lot of bunkers had fresh sand (some did not, so I imagine they are fixing them). Most courses we play even for a higher price tend to have unplayable bunkers.

Pace of play was perfect, very few behind or in front and we played as we wanted (played on a Sunday). Staff is very friendly. Thought it would be just a warm up course, but will definitely be back.

My observation of the course from tbox to the greens:

Tboxes: Yes most have little to no grass.. Could be the plan to get rid of weeds and reseed or resod

Fairway: From what I can tell work is in progress.. rolling pretty fast and this could be a good thing or bad thing.. From tbox on #5 golf buddy got to top of hill ball rolled the way to right side around the greens.. He was saved by the ball was hit in the middle!! Fast fairway at Southland is going to be fun. I can’t wait until May/June to see beautiful fairways!!

Bunkers: Most have sand.. Our public golf rule is to pick up your ball ..rake..place ball back in sand.. hit.. rake.

Greens: They donot paint them in winter/fall so true evaluation .. After May/June but they are playable and have a good roll!

Southland golf course is a good course that will present challenges to golfer at any handicap. The friendly staff makes the course a great place to hone your skills and enjoy this great game.
