Rough is too rough for the patrons
The rough was entirely too thick and deep for the skill of players that frequent the course. I wouldn't recommend the course right now because of the rough.
good greens nice layout
over all it was a good value. the fairways ways a little thick in spots. staff was nice but I don't like being paired we other people. If I paid for 2 I expect to play with 2. I have many friends so if I wanted to play a three sum or four sum I would have invited them. But the staff was nice , The course could use a marshal to check on pace of play. I will play it again
Good Course
Was placed with a two-some as I was a single today. Nice Guys. Course good shape but keep it in the fairway or close to greens as rough was a killer. A little slower than usual today (5hr round) as foursomes ahead bogged it down. We had a two-some in front of us & had to wait practically every shot.
Good day for golf
For it being so hot, the course has remained in good shape. Still the best value around. Challenging, but playable holes. Always fun.
Good course!
The was in pretty good condition, greens in good condition, fairway in fair condition and great price on Golf Now. I would recommend it to anyone.
Soggy
The course was in great shape with challenging rough changes in elevations. The greens were slow because of the recent rains and the fairways would not cooperate in letting the ball run for the same reason. Had a great time and would highly recommend it to others. Just an FYI, they don't sell beer at this course.
Great Shape
This course has been up and down but right now it is in great shape. I look forward to returning
Southland GC
Southland is a challenging course in the heart of Stone Mountain with the most affordable rates and friendliest staff. If you're a millenial golfer who prefers a chill round this the spot!
Great Experience!
Disclaimer, I have played some very nice courses, Torrey, TPC New Orleans to say the least. But the Expieence I had with the manager Tim was by for the best and he made up for any shortcomings of the course. He was Uber friendly, gave me a free water, free course book and great tips on the course! The course itself was was average but gave me the challenge I needed. The greens were nice and the fairways were average. I would love to see that guy own a course with a bigger budget I'm sure it would be great. Worth the price I paid and more. Thanks Tim
Great Improvements
It was overall a great experience. The staff is extremely friendly and the grounds in good condition. I will be back.
Solid course for the money it was just really wet
I have a love/hate relationship with this course...it's a great value, the course is always in solid condition for play, and it has several scenic holes that I really enjoy (especially 17 and 18). This day the course was really wet so I had lots of plugs in the fairway off the tee and many of the bunkers were full of water or not prepped...all of these things are out of their control as Atlanta has just been deluged this summer.
My only dislikes are that several holes are just layed out to force some ridiculous shots . 8 and 14 I truly dislike....8 is a mislabeled par 4 on the card listed at 320 yard big dogleg left. You can only hit a 180 club max off the tee....every time the hole drives me nuts. I hit a perfect tee shot 175 to the middle of the fairway past the dogleg and got to my ball to discover that the true distance to the flag was 225 yards...this shot is narrow and a creek runs down the middle of the fairway to the green. This hole is actually about 385 from the whites. I really wish they would modify this hole so that you could reach the fairway with a wood.
14 is a blind dogleg left tee shot that is open but from the tee you have no clue where to hit unless you have played the course many times. I'm really not a fan of holes like this.
Other than that I enjoyed my round and will come back on occasion to play.
First time visitor
Course will play better if fairways were properly mowed
Rough was tough
No halfway shop,no beverage cart take enough ice and own drinks
Greens extra slow uphill an fast downhill
Would play this again since there are some blind shots. Could not be sure what to hit of some tees
Bunkers in bad shape.
A fair Course
This is not a three star or better. Sand traps no one likes, but what sand? More like GA red clay dirt traps.
It had just enough greens maintenance to call it a course.
Peaceful swings
I happen to book a time where there were no groups before or after me, and I was able to go at my pace. Course was in much better shape than a year prior, and the greens were decent.
Value
This is an excellent course to play for the cost. The layout and course condition is above average and it's a challenge. However, amenities such as food service, club house etc id lacking or non-existing.
I would still recommend it to friends.
Number seven Teebox. There was gunshots fired and a dog was shot. I told management and they done nothing about it.
I told management and they done nothing about it. I heard the man talking to dog collar and after they shot him . I will never played this course again. Very bad area.
I enjoyed the course layout, but the fairways needed cutting. The greens were in very good shape and that is what keeps me coming back to a course. The person at the front desk was very helpful and pleasant. I'll definitely go back to play it again.
Bring some water!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My only beef with this course is when its 90+ degrees and they have 1 stinking water station in the middle of the course and the water is empty. No water, no cart girl, no nothing. Do you guys realize that you can make a lot of money with a cart girl? You are missing out. BYOB, water, drinks, anything. 1 water station on hole 6 then you come back to it on 12. Had to leave after 15 from heat stroke!
