Bring your best game
This is an incredibly challenging course for a high handicapper like myself (aren't they all?). You will see hole layouts unlike any you've seen before, and that makes it a singular and fun experience.
If you try to cut dog legs, you're in for a long day. You really do have to plan your attack, and next time I play it, I will!
Yes, the bunkers are being repaired, but that's the only ding.
There are great views along the way. Give it a go, and bring extra ammo.
Great Value - Good Course Except for Bunkers
Playing late in the day on weekends, this course is one of the best values around. The course is in really good shape for a course in this price range. The one exception to that is the bunkers. You can’t call them sand traps, because there is no sand in them, as in NONE inmost of them. Otherwise, I really like this course. And at a very discounted rate, it can’t be beat.
Good Course, Excellent Staff
A friendly, neighborhood-based course in Stone Mountain, GA, this course has an interesting/challenging layout (lots of doglegs) with a handful of Par 3-holes mixed in with 4s and 5s.
Unfortunately, the round was very backed up, often times piling up behind another group or two before teeing off. While the greens were in pristine condition, many of the bunkers were not maintained (hard surface, rocks, etc.).
Would also be helpful to add some more distance markers throughout the fairway, and a few of the tee boxes seemed to missing the standard distances to hole, hole number, etc.
As mentioned, however, the staff was great - very generous, friendly, and very warm. Certainly a reason to come back and support the neighborhood, which I plan on doing in the next week or so!
Great value
Definitely a no frills public course. Great layout though, greens were in top notch shape. Will definitely play there again.
Good value
The greens are in excellent conditions. Very good value. Much better shape than nearby mystery valley. Need more sand in the bunkers. I will play it again.
Entertaining
This course is very fun and has alot of uniqueness to it. However there is no effort put into there bunkers. Most are just hard packed dirt with rocks in them. The rest of the course was extremely fun to play. Just wish they put some effort into the bunkers otherwise just fill them in because its just an eyesore and no one is hitting out of them if you value your clubs.
Value play
When the price is right this is a good value for the money. Conditions on the course was good.
Enjoyable round for the price
Beautiful greens, collars , and aprons. Challenging placement oriented course. Virtually anything outside the cut will be tough to find. Pro shop staff too time to offer real advice. I would love to play this course more often. Make sure you bring you own food/drinks/ice because little is available at the course. Golfnow hot deal was a steal.
great value!
this course has great specials. if you're a beginner like us prepare to lose a few balls if you can't keep it on the fairway. just about the only holes where you can see the flag from the tee are the par 3's. staff is friendly and course is challenging but fun. it would've been nice to have the traditional "front nine/back nine" layout but just know going in that you need to bring a cooler and some sandwiches with you.
The other Stone Mountain course
This course is on the south side of mountain, less than 5 miles outside of Stone Mountain State Park. It has seen it's ups and downs since opening in the early 80's, but I have never seen it in better shape. If you just want to play 18, and don't mind the absence of a 19th hole, this is the best deal in town.
Southland
After booking was done via golfnow the course changed our teetime 20min earlier to acommodate locals
Could not really warmup to get comfortable
If we did not arrive 30 min earlier we would have had to wait an hour before we could play
No cart service
No snack shop after 9 holes
Bunkers are terrible
Expected more
SouthLand Golf Course
The course is good condition and they greens are fast.
The course is in good condition. The greens were in excellent shape and was pretty fast. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Great staff, great value, great layout.
The title says it all. The greens are fast!!! The only issue was the traps needed work. But, this place is a great value!
Pleasant Surprise - Great Value
Challenging course. Nice to use the driver on most holes. Rough is rough and will cost you strokes. Greens in great shape. Bring a little cooler with drinks/snacks. No traditional pro shop, no concession available. Cart in good shape. Friendly staff/owner. Will be back.
really nice course
This course has a great layout, with changing elevations. The greens are fabulous, fairways reward good shots, rough penalizes.
The staff is great and the pace of play was good for a holiday.
Terrible condition on course and a terrible value
How they can justify the $45 per person on this course is beyond me. This one of the worst courses I've ever played on, it was basically like playing in a dirt field. The cart was falling apart, the "pro shop" is nothing more than a junk storage unit. Don't waste your time here.
Good Value and challenging
Greens are great, fairways are tight, greens cannot be seen from the tee box except on par 3's. you can use your driver on about half the holes. This course is fun and challenging for the bogey golfer but maybe frustrating for the big hitters. I would recommend this course to everyone.
