Bridges of Poplar Creek Country Club

About
Formerly known as Poplar Creek Country Club, the club was transformed into the Bridges of Poplar Creek Country Club in 2011. Besides just the name change, the design itself was dramatically reinvented. Fifteen holes were completely redesigned but the golf course's most memorable holes were left untouched. Bunkers and fairways were reconfigured and fescue was planted to provide more depth and definition. To make the course even more challenging, new lakes were also added. The golf course is definitely a shot maker's layout that rewards accuracy and thoughtful strategizing. The final three holes are considered by many locals to be the toughest finishing trio in all of Illinois. It begins with an uphill par 4, followed by the longest par-3 and par-4 holes respectively. The Bridges of Poplar Creek C.C. offers a round that will challenge even the most avid golfers.

Bridges
Was a good day on the course, holiday afternoon so the course was pretty much deserted which I love. I’d enjoyed getting paired with random golfers but did not happen. I played alone, started out great 6 perfect holes before the wheels fell off the bus, on 16,17 and 18 started on the back recovered and shot better on the front. The course was in good conditions, Unfortunately some patrons didn’t fix their ball marks, obviously not the courses fault. People need to do better, respect the course and your fellow golfers, fix your divots and ball marks!
Good setup for everyone
Typical, flat Illinois golf course. Most holes are straight and are only challenging around the green. This could be a creek, a small pond, or a series of bunkers. Greens were in fantastic condition and were true. There are a couple of tee boxes that add a little twist onto difficulty, but not much difference. The group of three in front of us was typical slow play - everyone waits for one person to shoot, they all waddle around the green, and take 10 practice swings after having a conference about who knows what. Not the courses fault.
My only beef with this place is the pre-paid green fees. This is lazy and very COVID era stuff. You show up, load your cart, and go. You don’t even go inside for beverages.
But a nice and very well maintained course!
Good to great
Drinks are very reasonably priced! 5 dollars a beer from the cart girl to the bar. Forgiving and hard course good layout plays long on the black nice to have a mix with the bridges. Great putting and range
Great value - great condition
I played twilight starting at 3 PM. Finished by 6:30 PM. Course moved fast and was in great condition. Would definitely play again. Fun course with all the elements water, sand, trees. Not boring at all.
Windy and wet
The course has a lot of water (and sand traps), which are challenging enough but add to that a 15-20 mph wind and the day had its frustrating moments. Enjoyed the day anyway but did lose 4 balls on the round due to water. I will play again.
