Bridges of Poplar Creek Country Club
About
Formerly known as Poplar Creek Country Club, the club was transformed into the Bridges of Poplar Creek Country Club in 2011. Besides just the name change, the design itself was dramatically reinvented. Fifteen holes were completely redesigned but the golf course's most memorable holes were left untouched. Bunkers and fairways were reconfigured and fescue was planted to provide more depth and definition. To make the course even more challenging, new lakes were also added. The golf course is definitely a shot maker's layout that rewards accuracy and thoughtful strategizing. The final three holes are considered by many locals to be the toughest finishing trio in all of Illinois. It begins with an uphill par 4, followed by the longest par-3 and par-4 holes respectively. The Bridges of Poplar Creek C.C. offers a round that will challenge even the most avid golfers.

Nice day out on the course
The course is very unique and surprisingly picturesque given its location.
Negatives:
- There is a lot of street noise. The course is basically surrounded by heavy traffic roads.
- Nearby water park creates some music and noise from children playing on quite a few holes
- Short par 4s.
Positives:
- The course is in nice shape. Greens roll true and the fairways a cut fairy tight making most fairway shots feel like you're getting a big advantage.
- The rough is consistent and moderately thick. Around the greens it is the same and provides moderate challenge when around the green.
- Plenty of bunkers, of which I found a few. They were fairly consistently sanded and the ball flew out nicely. Hard pack under maybe an inch or two of fluffy sand.
- Greens are really big, and mostly long front to back. This creates a challenge judging when to go for a flag and when to play safe to the middle.
- Lots of opportunities to lose balls in the water. They really make you think on the tee box. I hit 5-iron off of at least two tees and probably should have done so on a third when I drove the ball into the water. This is great as it challenges you in ways that most courses in the midwest seldom do. This is also a clever way to make the short par-4s play much longer.
- Many tee choices to allow for varying skill levels.
Ron's July 2014 Bridges of Poplar Creek Review
This round rates above others as I had my first hole in one on number 11. The course was in very good condition with thick rough which made it difficult. Greens were in very good condition.
Beautiful and Challenging
Well manicured fairways and greens and has a very unique and challenging layout! Great price for this type of golf course! Bravo!
I got hosed
Teed off at 6 pm. The back nine had it's pins pulled well before sun down and I was kicked off the course on hole 13. I will never go back.
Great layout, poor conditions
The layout of the course is fine, but unfortunately the course was not in good condition. The greens were filled with disease and the fairways had many bare spots, which is surprising considering the excellent growing weather we have had recently.
Pretty views but sloooww greens
Shot one of my best scores, and it a great looking course from tee to green, but the greens were pretty slow - but disclaimer is that I played at 5pm so they'd been played on and growing all day.
The one draw back - there was a foursome playing from the wrong tees that jammed everyone up. They wouldn't take the hint and let anyone through even with us pulling up to them as they were hitting their second off the tees, Rangers needed to kick em in gear.
Great Course for the price!
I have played here several times. They maintain this course very well and green are in great condition (very fast) The course can be pretty challenging at time with water and traps every where, but thats a good thing. The 2 negative things i can say is they are known to put tee times too close together, this causes slow play. Also the greens are all pretty much next to the tee boxes. Bring your hard hat.
poplar
Greens and fairways were in good shape. Courteous staff makes all the difference.
Good course
Course is in good shape as of July 6th. The greens have some wear to them but it looks like it's more on the people playing then the course itself. Rough was tough to get out of which made it more challenging. Live in the city so it was quite a haul to get here, but worth the discount we received on golf now.
Pretty Good Shape
The course is in pretty good shape considering the winter. I played this course for $30 during the week which is a great value. GPS carts are a plus too.
Nice
Nice course, relatively challenging. Some holes were in bad shape.
The Course has lot water by green
the course is great you laid up or go for green.on most hole .i like narrow fairway and tree line
great canvas just needs touch ups.
Overall this course is very good but it could be great. Like most complaints, mine is with the greens. The inconsistency in the middle of June is semi mind boggling. I have played many other courses in the area with far superior green conditions. I love the course and even understand that Chicago had a harsh winter, but they need to stop using that as a crutch and step up. If other courses are finding a way, so can Bridges. Otherwise I love every other aspect of this facility.
Pleasant round on good course
I generally don't play this course as it is a little pricey for what you get. We only had time available Sunday morning so we were going to pay a premium regardless of where we played. The course was in great shape and the round only took about 4-4 1/2 hours. The greens are challenging and some of the fairways are narrow. Good test of your game without being to penalizing. Would play more often if the price were better.
Still a Mess!!!
Greens awful!
Greens awful!
Greens awful!
Bunkers not consistent.
I've played 20 times in the area and this is the worst conditioned place by far! What a shame. The kicker is that I live on the course and I stay away. Only reason I played today was time/price fit.
It's almost June. Time to stop blaming the winter weather.
Only bright spot was that there are workers about trying to address the many needs.
Price points? Wait a couple months before venturing out.
Poplar Creek 5/24/14
This was a good course. We enjoyed the course. There were good holes and we found holes that were challenging and interesting.
Poorly managed
I booked this course online and showed up as a single to play on a beautiful Saturday late afternoon. Given the weather I assumed I would be paired up and was told in the proshop that I would be. I waited on the tee as a group went off and was told to wait, and then was told to go off on my own to which I was surpirsed, but not at all opposed to.
The 4some in front of me did not let me through and I was waiting 10-15mins between shots. When the marshall came around, I asked him if he could tell the group in front to let me play through, and he said he couldn't do that and to skip a hole and just pass them. I wanted to play a full 18, so I waited another couple holes to see if they would let me through and they didn't, so I did eventually pass them and was behind another 3some who also did not let me through. I asked another marshall if I could be paired up with them or if I could be let through and he also denied me being able to do that. Eventually, I gave up and did not want to play another 9 holes (which I paid for) waiting 95% of the time.
I went to the proshop and asked if I could just go use the range instead of play the back 9 and they said that I would still have to pay for range tokens at the range and would not refund even a dollar of my round.
The course was in fair condition, many of the greens still had dirt patches where the grass had been cut too low or had not grown in well yet. The tee boxes and fairways were in great condition though.
Poor service and planning will be keeping me away from this course.
