Bridges of Poplar Creek Country Club
About
Formerly known as Poplar Creek Country Club, the club was transformed into the Bridges of Poplar Creek Country Club in 2011. Besides just the name change, the design itself was dramatically reinvented. Fifteen holes were completely redesigned but the golf course's most memorable holes were left untouched. Bunkers and fairways were reconfigured and fescue was planted to provide more depth and definition. To make the course even more challenging, new lakes were also added. The golf course is definitely a shot maker's layout that rewards accuracy and thoughtful strategizing. The final three holes are considered by many locals to be the toughest finishing trio in all of Illinois. It begins with an uphill par 4, followed by the longest par-3 and par-4 holes respectively. The Bridges of Poplar Creek C.C. offers a round that will challenge even the most avid golfers.

Good Value
Short, tight course with plenty of sand and water.Fairly flat. Can be walked. Not very scenic due to homes and buildings surrounding the course.Course was in excellent condition.Gps on the carts gives yardage to the pin.
forget the driver
Personally I didn't like the layout of this course at all. I was only able to hit driver on 2 hples . if u r a short hitter it might be OK but I had to lay up my first shot on over half the course or I'd be in a hazard. In turn it played much longer than the posted yardage.
Love this course
Bridges of Poplar Creek is scenically a beautiful course. Lots of birds and other creatures.
As for the course, it's always well kept and the staff is friendly. I'm an average golfer so I like this course b/c it's fairly flat and there are a few long holes.
I try to play this course whenever I see a special.
This course has some challenging holes
Staff is friendly. It would have been nice to have some rangers on the course to keep the pace moving.
Bang for your buck
Shorter course that makes you think about your tee shots and approach shots with a number of hazards around the green. It is fun because it changes the pace of just going up to the tee and whacking the ball even though that's what the group in front of me was doing. However, they keep the course in great shape and have a nice range and great gps carts.
Great experience
Challenging and rewarding, just the type of course I enjoy!
great course for the average player
great time, excellent condition. Friendly staff. very enjoyable day.
5 hr. round
Course was in good shape although the greens had many ball marks that were not repaired. The ranger was visible but had no effect on the five hour round.
Just way too long for a round of golf. Keep your driver in the bag for many tee shots.
This course does have good features, no questions about it.
It is very pricey for what they offer, because their renovation and improvements a few years ago cost them a lot, I guess. It looks nice and good, but their mowing needs a lot to be desired. Their maintenance of the areas around the greens and some of the fairways have some issues, but overall is not bad. They have the nicest golf carts in the Chicago area, electric with a great GPS and Electronic Score Card. The fact still remains that they are TOO Pricey, perhaps because we don't have a lot of golf courses in this area. I'll give it a 3.5 to 3.75 primarily because of cost, otherwise they would be up there around 4.25 to 4.5
Poplar Creek HEHS Tryouts
To me, the course always provides a good game. Some greens could use a little work, but most of the time, people make the course conditions bad by not repairing divots, raking the bunkers etc. The service is top notch, and I recommend this course for all skill levels.
slow play
pro shop not helpful at all. I thought I booked 4 thru golf now I only hit 3 golfers. I called pro shop the day before they said they would try to put us as a 4some when we got to the course pro shop said there was nothing they could do course was booked so one of my 4some left. then to my surprise rite behind us was a 3some
Poplar creek
Course gets a lot of traffic, greens and tee boxes need lots of attention.
Greens were very bumpy and beat up (fix your ball marks people!!!) Tee boxes are very uneven hard to find level ground.
Otherwise fun course to play.
Bridges of Poplar Creek Review
Course was in good shape, condition of course was 8/10
Pace of play was OK; took 4.5 for 18
Staff was great; GolfNow value price was also great
Course design is somewhat mundane at times; lotta unremarkable holes
Nice facility
Bridges is well appointed with a good short game practice area, driving range and practice green in addition to the fine course.
A Challenge, Hit In the Fairway (or Greens on Par 3) Or Else
This course is in good shape. The rough is thick but fair. Greens are in good condition. Beware of the par 3's and the water around the course. I shot an 80, with 8 penalty shots (4 in the water.) Worth the price.
Do you like to wait 20 minutes after each shot?
Let me start by saying that the club house and practice facilities are nice. The course is intriguing, it is short, but the well place water hazards make it longer. For me, I left the driver in the bag almost the entire day and hit iron because of the water placement. The problem is that there are no rangers to speak of (Sunday) and that we got a rain check after 9 because it took us 3:45 minutes to reach the fairway on 10. That is entirely too slow. They over booked evidently. Prepare to wait if you go. The greens are pretty rough as well. The rest of the course is nice. I think they were also letting people go off on the back who were only playing nine and that slowed everything up as well.
Nice day out on the course
The course is very unique and surprisingly picturesque given its location.
Negatives:
- There is a lot of street noise. The course is basically surrounded by heavy traffic roads.
- Nearby water park creates some music and noise from children playing on quite a few holes
- Short par 4s.
Positives:
- The course is in nice shape. Greens roll true and the fairways a cut fairy tight making most fairway shots feel like you're getting a big advantage.
- The rough is consistent and moderately thick. Around the greens it is the same and provides moderate challenge when around the green.
- Plenty of bunkers, of which I found a few. They were fairly consistently sanded and the ball flew out nicely. Hard pack under maybe an inch or two of fluffy sand.
- Greens are really big, and mostly long front to back. This creates a challenge judging when to go for a flag and when to play safe to the middle.
- Lots of opportunities to lose balls in the water. They really make you think on the tee box. I hit 5-iron off of at least two tees and probably should have done so on a third when I drove the ball into the water. This is great as it challenges you in ways that most courses in the midwest seldom do. This is also a clever way to make the short par-4s play much longer.
- Many tee choices to allow for varying skill levels.
Ron's July 2014 Bridges of Poplar Creek Review
This round rates above others as I had my first hole in one on number 11. The course was in very good condition with thick rough which made it difficult. Greens were in very good condition.
Beautiful and Challenging
Well manicured fairways and greens and has a very unique and challenging layout! Great price for this type of golf course! Bravo!
I got hosed
Teed off at 6 pm. The back nine had it's pins pulled well before sun down and I was kicked off the course on hole 13. I will never go back.
