Bridges of Poplar Creek Country Club
About
Formerly known as Poplar Creek Country Club, the club was transformed into the Bridges of Poplar Creek Country Club in 2011. Besides just the name change, the design itself was dramatically reinvented. Fifteen holes were completely redesigned but the golf course's most memorable holes were left untouched. Bunkers and fairways were reconfigured and fescue was planted to provide more depth and definition. To make the course even more challenging, new lakes were also added. The golf course is definitely a shot maker's layout that rewards accuracy and thoughtful strategizing. The final three holes are considered by many locals to be the toughest finishing trio in all of Illinois. It begins with an uphill par 4, followed by the longest par-3 and par-4 holes respectively. The Bridges of Poplar Creek C.C. offers a round that will challenge even the most avid golfers.

I would play it again for sure.
Tees, fairways, and greens were in good shape. The GPS on the cart was great. The fairways were well marked as well. I would come back to play again. It is nice to have such a well maintained course close to home.
Upgrades over recent years are great. - but- !
Very slow play. No ranger at all on back nine while two groups in front formed a 6 some. They drank and argued over every shot causing major delays to all players behind them. This ruined the day for our foursome. The ranger was not found on the course until the 18th fairway and when confronted made an excuse that the entire course was slow. That 6 some had fallen 4 holes behind the group in front of them. When we challenged his analysis, he immediately drove away. The pro shop was closed when we finally got in so I went back the next day to advise the pro shop and they did offer a free round of play as compensation.
great course for weekly players
lots of up and down and waters for challengers.....
Great course
Excellent condition one of my favorite courses in the Chicagoland area that i have played.
Tricky Course
Short, good condition, greens smallish and fast, you do not want to be above the hole. Lots of unrepaired divots in the fairway landing areas.
The course and GPS are great
The greens and fairways are in great condison. The price was a little better last year.
Fun Placement Course
Pretty course. Lot of fun and you do not need to rip out the big dog very often.
Cool course but not for good players
Course is short. Big hitters may not like it. Drainage in bunkers is inconsistent. Some tee boxes are not level, and some are just beat up. I remember getting emails from them touting a redesign about two years ago. It seems all they have done is flip the nines.
The greens are the key to this course to score. Very undulating.
Also. if it storms during your round, the course will not give a rain check if you booked here. You must do it through golfnow.
If you are thinking about getting a quick round in, it won't happen here.
Bridges & Bunkers
Course was in excellent condition although the tee boxes were beaten up. Pro Shop staff was quite friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a replay when the weather is cooler as it was quite hot. The bag drop arrangement needs to be more fluid. Also, the staff at the turn for sandwiches could not have been less friendly and we have played many golf courses in the greater Chicago area.
Great play
The pro shop was friendly and helpful, the other staff were the same. The course was narrow and a little challenging, but the condition of the course was perfect (especially when compared to some other courses that haven't handled the recent rain well).
Nice, but short
Maintained very well - only issues were a few tee boxes were sandy, and some greens pockmarked. Very short - tips are only 6500. Played gold, which was ~6000, and almost drove a few greens.
Greens were slick, pins were hard-yet-manageable, fairways fairly clear of divots, and bunkers were soft.
Overall, I'd go back, if I could get the same (or better) deal.
Short but fun course
It is a short course but still a fun place that truly makes you think about what club you should hit and where. The GPS carts are phenomenal and are a great help. It also allows you to keep score easily and gives you advice on how to play that hole. The course is maintained superbly and is in great condition. I highly suggest you consider playing this course.
The course was in great condition
Played this course several times and its well worth the money paid. Challenging put open so when your drive goes off line you can still reach the green without hurting your score. New addition this year was GPS carts. Accurate and when approaching the Bridges it slows you down.
S-L-O-W
We played on a Friday afternoon and the pace of play was excruciatingly SLOW. Clearly, there were too many golfers on the course and we waited to hit on every tee box and on every approach. There were rangers on the course, however they didn't appear to be especially interested in moving things along. On two par 3's there were a couple of foursomes waiting as a group teed off. Also, there were golf balls flying everywhere to the point where we were concerned for our safety. All in all, not a very enjoyable experience.
As for the course, this was my first (and last) visit to Poplar Creek since the renovations. The course IS much nicer, and I was impressed with the way the greens were rolling. There are still too many blind or semi-blind shots for my taste and there are a couple of holes that are just bad golf holes. It's a challenging course, and not really a good course for beginners or hackers, but that's what the comparably low cost to play attracts - which makes for a bad combo and what accounted for the 5-plus hour round of golf.
Course was put together well for limited space
Course was in good shape.Pace of play was bad understandable for a holiday
This is a very nice course
This is such a nice course for the $30 I spent on GolfNow.com. I will definitely be going back to play again.
This course is very well maintained
The course was in pristine condition despite rain the day before and the morning of. The fairways are beautiful and the greens fast and true. Also, the GPS on the carts was very helpful and accurate. The only complaint I have is that one of the rangers kept bothering us about pace of play even though the group behind was two holes back. For 50 dollars it would be hard to beat this course and I will definitely be back
Nice track worth the price I paid
Played on a weekday afternoon before league play. Was able to get around quick as being a single player I was waved through by the 4 foresomes encountered during the course of play. The course has plenty of trouble and it is what I would call a shot makers type of course. You need to have distance control of your irons to score well here.
The greens had quite a bit of tilt, and they rolled fast and true.
Overall an enjoyable experience.
It was Father's Day so play was slower than normal
Course was in good condition. Greens fast, a little hard. but overall course condition was very good.
Incredible Experience
From the practice range, to the touch screen GPS, to the course conditions. This course was a blast. The touch screen GPS would help you plan out your shots for each hole, as well as order food, and get the cart girl.
Great Experience!
