Bridges of Poplar Creek Country Club
About
Formerly known as Poplar Creek Country Club, the club was transformed into the Bridges of Poplar Creek Country Club in 2011. Besides just the name change, the design itself was dramatically reinvented. Fifteen holes were completely redesigned but the golf course's most memorable holes were left untouched. Bunkers and fairways were reconfigured and fescue was planted to provide more depth and definition. To make the course even more challenging, new lakes were also added. The golf course is definitely a shot maker's layout that rewards accuracy and thoughtful strategizing. The final three holes are considered by many locals to be the toughest finishing trio in all of Illinois. It begins with an uphill par 4, followed by the longest par-3 and par-4 holes respectively. The Bridges of Poplar Creek C.C. offers a round that will challenge even the most avid golfers.

Awful course conditions
Out of the last 50-60 golf courses I have played over the last few years, this course was by far in the WORST shape I have played. The fairways were terrrible, the greens were half covered in sand because of all the damages on them. Thier were 3-4 temporary greens because the real ones were so bad. If I managed this course, I would be embarrassed to let people play on it. I am very upset that they charged the prices they did for this dogtrack. Do not play.
Temp greens
There are some temp. green for 3 holes and overall fairway are needed to be improving grass conditions...
early season tough to judge
decent course, tight fairways, short, fairly easy.
Temp greens
I t was a good deal on golfnow, when I got there I found out why. Temp. greens and freshlyu air rated.
The coarse had gps which is usually good. They weren't set for the temp greens, so you didn't know how far they were. They were very rough as well, it was best to putt with a 7 iron. Even the greens that weren't temp were very rough, putts bouncing and turning, not a good day to score, but nice to get out and play. It played very slow over 5 hours. That was this time, the last time I played there the coarse was in good shape. On a normal summer day, I think there way overpriced.
2 many winter damaged greens
This course is a victim of the long cold Chicago winter. More than 6 temporary greens that you can't really put on. When it comes back from the winter damage it will be a decent course.
PC
Great course. Would have gotten 5 stars but they had 6 temporary greens set up. I'm sure they will correct this soon.
The untold Story... Until you get to the course
I booked on Golf Now and I knew that there was an alert for Seeding the course. When I arrived I was also told that there were 5 tempoary greens. The person in the pro Shop said it was labeled on Golf Now. It was not, the person I played with did not see that alert either. I have played this course several times and have always enjoyed playing there. I drove from Chicago, if I knew what the conditions were, I would have played somewhere else. Just be honest when you're selling tee times. Also, having a ranger out there would have be great, the course was backed up by two foursomes that were not as skilled and instead of letting a two some play through, we had to skip two of the 18 holes ...
Go when this course is in peak condition
Went on a golfnow cheap rate and now we know why. Was made aware of the over seeding...not a problem just makes the greens slower than normal. Golf now only after we booked put a paragraph about the 5 temporary greens and when we got to the course it was up to 6. Temp. greens (especially with the damage this winter) are usually not that big of a deal either except the a-holes that played in the previous weeks still used the regular greens even though they were damaged so the temp greens had 6-10 divots and I mean deeep divots taken out that made them unacceptable. Fairways were still, despite the better weather the last two weeks, bare and dormant. This course would be better and looked better than it looked otherwise it would have been a 5 star experience all the way. So stay away in the off seasons and play in the summer.
Tough shape now, will get better
BPC took hit during tough suburban Chicago winter. Ordinarily fun track, but not now. Five greens closed temporarily. Wait several weeks before playing.
Decent course if you have 6 hours to kill
I've played Poplar Creek several times now, all at different times and days of the week, and the one thing that is consistent about this course is that it is slow. The course itself is pretty nice and can have some challenging holes and the in cart GPS is definitely a plus, however the pace is always horrible. I have never once completed a round in under 4 hours.
Cart path only
Course had only been open a week. Greens had been sanded and fairly slow. The layout is fair but there are plenty of bunkers protecting greens.
good
Being that it was the first time out in the field and the course was just reinnovated it wasnt bad. As the year goes on and the weather gets better I feel that the course will develop even more.
The greens were more difficult than before but the reinnovation seems to be benefitial for the course seems newer and more scenic.
Challenging Course
The Course was very clean and neat after renovation. We enjoyed our play although weather was too cold to play. We like to revisit the course when temperature will go up.
Great greens for late fall
Course was in excellent shape after 1.5 inches of rain two days before. Greens were fast and true. Pace of play was OK for a weekend. Excellent value for the $25 hot deal for a 1200 start.
good value for the money
Average ratings for difficulty and challenge. A bit on the short side but fun for a group of various skill levels.
Most pristine course conditions I've played this year.
I was blown away by the the pristine condition of the fairways, the rough and the greens. This in itself qualified as a five star course to me.
Most of the fairways were narrower than I've encountered in other courses in the area. However, I think this was necessary because this is a short course. Can we say target golf? Many of the fairways had water running down their length or most of their length.
The rough was lush. It was tall enough to risk losing your ball but it was definitely lush enough to make it a challenge from which to escape.
The greens were very fast which I like a lot. They ran true. So if you read them correctly you can have confidence in your stroke. However, you will be penalized for any miscues.
The sand traps were easy to get out of if you know how to play bunker shots. What I mean by this is that the sand quality was very good. No pebbles or granularity that makes you cringe when you step into a sand trap.
Because the course is rather short the pace of play was excellent. However, I did play in the morning on a weekday. This could also have something to do with the quick pace I encountered and that I prefer.
Try this course. I think you'll like it.
Great track; layout is challenging.
I hadn't played here in about 3 years. The course was in great condition. The course offers a challenging layout that requires you to hit all the clubs in your bag. The greens were firm and fast. I look forward to playing this course again.
Great course for the money
Would play this course anytime for 25 bucks! Other than the super slow play, it was in great overall condition.
Poorly managed, super slow pace
I ended up skipping 8 holes on the course because there were 3 groups on every hole. It would have taken 6 hours to complete the course. There was no ranger to start the groups and no one to ensure folders were keeping pace. I understand a slower round but 3 1/2 hours for 10 holes was too much to stand
To Many Roads
When I golf I like to get away from "it." When you play Poplar Creek you are surrounded by "it." Homes, apartments, townhomes, roads (Golf Rd) and you're nearby Higgens (Rt.72) and Barrington Rd. So there is a constant hum of traffic while you play. The remake of the course improved it and if you need a cheap golf fix then PC is in your wheelhouse. I only go there if I have to.
