About
Annbriar Golf Course in Waterloo is one of the top 10 golf courses in Illinois. The course was built on rolling farmland covered with native wild grasses. The layout eases you into the challenges with a links-style front nine that is less demanding than the back nine. The fairways are invitingly wide but if you miss them, you'll be faced with thick fescue. The back nine takes advantage of the surprisingly undulating terrain, which is unexpected since just across the river the land is almost totally flat. Annbriar's signature hole, the par-4 11th, was voted the best hole in the St. Louis area. From an elevated tee, golfers enjoy a stunning view as they play down into a valley. This hole is also the no. 1 handicap hole on Annbriar Golf Course.

Annbriar Early May
Annbriar is just a great course and layout.. greens were a little bumpy from aeration but will be good in another week or two. Fairways and tee boxes were immaculate, keep it in the fairway as the rough was extremely tough.
Favorite course in the area
A Friend recommended this course to me last year. I fell in love. It's got it's difficult parts. The bunkers are probably some of the best on a public course and the greens are always in good condition for how much the weather changes in the area. Just wish people would fix the ball marks. Will always be in the top 3 go to course when I want to go play golf. Well worth the money and drive out to the course from Saint Louis.

A Day At Annbriar
My ratings were based on what I encountered while there. The course is absolutely as good as there is in metro St. Louis.
Playing yesterday was tough as the course was “Cart Path Only” and rightfully so after over 1.5 inches of rain the night before. That made for a lot of extra walking and many “standing water-like” shots (tee shots included).
Greens were recently aerated and sanded so that made putting nothing like I know the course to be.
Rough is ridiculously high right now and I’ll assume that’s because they can’t their mowers out on the grounds.
Don’t let this review scare you away. When it’s dry and in usual Annbriar condition, it’s as good as you’ll find.

Very nice course
Loved the course. Only issue, and its not the course fault. Have to blame weather. The week before the course got a lot of rain. Then the temperature dripped into the low 40’s. But the kicker was the wind. Sustained at 20-30mph with gusts in the 40’s. Pace of play was slowed due to cart path only. This made for a lot of extra walking. Again not course fault. The wind was the hardest obstacle to deal with. But with all the above, this is a very nice golf course. Already planning the next round. Hopefully the weather will cooperate.

Great couse, disappointing pace
Disappointing as we had a 5-some in front of us and a 6-some in front of them. Other than that, beautiful course.

Tremendous Conditions For March
Annbriar is the best course in the St. Louis Metro area. The conditions of this course in mid-March were unbelievable. The zoysia fairways are brown and dormant but so full and plush. Good things to come in the summer when the fairways turn green. The greens were just as good. Putted at a good pace and were smooth.
The staff is always so friendly and the price of $40 is so good for the course you are playing. The service in their restaurant was outstanding too.
I would make two recommendations for the course. Use different colored flags to indicate front, middle and back. So hard to see the small flag indicating this. I can't think of another course that still uses the small flags on the pole.
The second point is, I was in the middle of the fairway on hole 13 and had no shot to the pin. The large sycamore has two lower branches that block all balls coming in - whenever the pin is left or middle. Hole 13 is a beautiful hole heading back to the clubhouse but until these limbs are removed, hole 13 is just a gimmicky hole.

Nice course
Greens were in great shape. Some of the better greens I've played in the area. Course was in pretty good condition for this time of year. Layout was fun. The sand is also great. I had to hit out of it more than I would like.
