About
Annbriar Golf Course in Waterloo is one of the top 10 golf courses in Illinois. The course was built on rolling farmland covered with native wild grasses. The layout eases you into the challenges with a links-style front nine that is less demanding than the back nine. The fairways are invitingly wide but if you miss them, you'll be faced with thick fescue. The back nine takes advantage of the surprisingly undulating terrain, which is unexpected since just across the river the land is almost totally flat. Annbriar's signature hole, the par-4 11th, was voted the best hole in the St. Louis area. From an elevated tee, golfers enjoy a stunning view as they play down into a valley. This hole is also the no. 1 handicap hole on Annbriar Golf Course.

My Favorite Place To Play In St. Louis
First, the course is in immaculate condition.
However, this is not what makes this place special. Most courses have the same rate for the weekends/holidays. Not at Annbriar. Even though Monday was a holiday, you paid their Monday rate of $55 ($15 less than the weekend rate). What a bargain for the best course in the St. Louis area.
That tells you how well Annbriar is ran and how much they appreciate their customers. The staff cannot be more friendly too,
The greens have no stressed (brown) areas. They are in great shape. When you stand on the tees, the fairways look so green and manicured.
If I had any complaints, the tee boxes did need to be mowed. When you teed your ball up, the grass was up near the bottom of your ball.
A lot of good holes
Holes 1-4, 7 and 10 are pretty bland. The other holes are interesting and fun. Watch out for the 30 foot drop-off behind the 8th hole! It will take at least one time playing to figure out the correct line off the tee on a few holes. The greens were a bit slow for my liking. They were healthy though. Worker was out watering the greens while we were playing and checking the temperature of the greens on several holes (getting in our way). It's a nice piece of property. I'd play it again if I was in the area.

Overall Good
Annbriar is a special place with wonderful golf holes, some of the prettiest in the area. The value for the money is really good. Unfortunately, our Friday round (2:50 tee time) was excruciatingly slow. Couldn't finish the round due to darkness. All of the staff were super friendly and made you feel welcome. Disappointing couple of tee boxes in disrepair. And, the cart path is really in need of some attention. This isn't the little sparkling gem it used to be. Of course, I'll play here again and again, it's that nice. It's a $50 course that I paid $32 bucks to play. Annbriar is becoming tattered around the edges and need a good sprucing up. Spend some dough on the course (raise the fee if you have to) and make the course a destination again.

A Course You Want to Play
Annbriar is by far and away the best public course in the St. Louis area. The course was in excellent condition. Greens were perfect and rolled true. The back 9 is really an amazing layout and is quite challenging. The staff is really attentive and helpful. The course is highly recommended.

Slow play, but gem of a course
Course was in amazing condition. 240 golfers the day we played and no course marshal. Well maintained!

Slowww Play
Played Annbriar on both Saturday and Sunday this past weekend. First of all the good news. The course is in the best condition I have ever seen it. Tees, fairways, and greens all in excellent condition. Then the bad news. Saturday’s round with 12:00 tee time took about 4 1/2 hours. Not good but not horrible. Sunday’s round however teeing off at 8:00 am was beyond slow. It took almost 4 hours to complete 13 holes at which time we quit. Two to three groups on every tee. I will be back because I love the course but something has to be done about slow play.

Top Notch Course
THis course is forgiving in that the rough all funnels back towards the fairways so easier to keep in play, BUT, the rough is very thick and then you have the challenge to play from there. Excellent condition!

All my golfer buddies love Annbriar. The father & son ownership is a great team that keeps course running smoothly and conditions always pristine.
Travel time is a issue sometimes. Make the effort if you’ve not played Annbriar. Be ready for a tougher challenge when you make the turn to the back nine!

Back 9 Surprise
Great course. Unfortunately got stuck behind an extremely slow foursome who wouldn’t let two of us play through so the group behind hit into us multiple times in blind shot areas. Conditions were great although I was a bit disappointed that the greens were rolling as slow as they were.
