About
Cantigny Golf in Wheaton offers 27 holes of championship golf. It is also a great place for juniors with an academy and nine-hole youth links course. The holes are divided into the Lakeside, Hillside, and Woodside nines, names that connote the characteristics of the beautiful landscape. There are two meandering creeks as well as 12 lakes interspersed throughout the golf courses. The nines are played in three different 18-hole combinations. The Lakeside/Hillside Course, as the name would imply, takes advantage of the many lakes and elevation changes. Mature hardwood trees frame the holes and more than 100,000 flowers provide a colorful accent. In addition to water hazards, there are also strategically placed bunkers along the greensides. All of the golf courses are enjoyable challenging without being overly difficult.

Beautiful course
Gorgeous course, perfectly maintained, and very courteous staff.
I lucked out.
I scheduled this tee time for a quick post-work 9 hole round and got pretty lucky with my day. I was on the good end of a tee sheet mixup, so the starter ended up letting me play by myself on Hillside rather than Woodside. Groups were good about letting me play through. 9 hole twilight price was comparable to other courses in the area, which usually isn’t the case for Cantigny.
Pretty intimidating place for an amateur player, especially when it’s your first time being there. Lots of talented/formal golfers using the facilities and interacting. On top of that, there are a ton of facilities so you have a lot of options to go get practice. Pro shop is pretty expensive - I’m not getting anything until I post a good score here.
Course layout was fun but nothing too unique from other courses I’ve played. Played from the blue tees and was surprised that the course wasn’t very long. Tee shots pretty much always need to be straight, and fairway bunkers are placed to hinder above average distance off the tee. Greens were slow but that’s expected after a good rain earlier in the day. Hole 9 was extremely soggy approaching the green. Lots of pitch marks left on the greens.
I expected a stuffy and snobby staff but everyone was pretty nice and helpful. Overall had a great experience but a lot of that is thanks to being sent out as a single. I probably wouldn’t have enjoyed it as much playing in a random foursome.
Lightning & Thunderstorm
I was told I can not get rescheduled or a credit even though the course was CLOSED Due to weather???? And we were only on theb3rsnhole!
My group of high school buddies and friends we play there at least once a month. The course is great. Staff is great and we enjoy lunch afterwards.
Besides an 1 hr rain delay course was in great shape and twilight rate is priced good as well.
Elite Golf Course
Best course I have played at in Chicago area by a mile. From an amenities standpoint this place has it all, complementary range balls if you have a tee time so def recommend going earlier to get some warm up in. Coolers attached to the golf carts and complementary water bottles & water refill stations through out the course. In terms of the actual golf, this course is definitely challenging which in my opinion makes it much more fun! Course was about as well maintained as possible, fairways and greens were beautiful. Will absolutely be coming back, had a fantastic time.
Will not find better
Just a fantastic track. Need to hit them true and not compound mistakes!
Poor Management
Had a foursome reserved but one person couldn’t make it. I was forced to pay for the missing person which I understand but when I asked for a rain check to be used at a later date they told me no. The starter says they usually do this but the person in the pro shop disagreed. Sadly, I won’t be a repeat customer again.
