Ocean City Golf Club - Newport Bay
About
Ocean City Golf Club boasts 36 holes of championship golf. The Seaside Course opened in 1959 and it was later joined by the Newport Bay Course. Both offer scenic views of the surrounding marshes and bay. Newport Bay is a formidable challenge but it will test your ability to think strategically, not your distance. Strategically placed bunkers come into play and the subtle contours of the landscape were utilized to their full extent. The course is a formidable test but it is player friendly enough to appeal to all skill levels. The golf course also touts some of the most scenic views on the Mid-Atlantic coast, although the surroundings are more Carolinian in feel. Both of Ocean City's courses offer something different. Seaside has a more traditional design but both offer plenty of variety.

Course With Bay Views
This course is challenging, visually appealing with a friendly staff. I have played many times, score reasonably well for a senior player. It is somewhat out of the way but well worth the extra effort to visit and play.
Enjoyable round
Good conditions. Great natural environment with wet land views galore.
Excellant round.
Single golfer 3 hour round . Ranger assisted in making this a very pleasant experience. Let me jump to the back nine to avoid the back up, then finish the front.
The Nature
Beautiful design, great conditions, perfect weather, well maintained fairways and greens. And all in a natural preserve!
We should not have had to play.....
The night before, we had over 3 inches of rain. We decided to call the course because unfortunately, we booked through golf now for a better rate. The only problem with that, if the course is open, you must play or lose your money.
We called from our hotel while eating breakfast and they said, of course, we are open. Well, we arrived at this old run down brick building which was the pro shop and snack shop and locker room. This place was like taking a trip back to the 70's. We arrived an hour early. We dropped off our bags and were told to go to the driving range but we had to walk and not take the cart. I explained I had MS and the old fella goes I don't make the rules sorry. So we grab 4-5 clubs, go to the driving range, the mats are soaked and there are no rubber tees except 2 for people that like to tee their driver up over 6 inches.
No one was on the coarse, why couldn't we just tee off and get it over with at this dump. They said they were putting a single with us and he had not arrived yet. That is ridiculous! We wanted to play alone not with some stranger, though he turned out to be a nice guy.
It was cart path only but on most holes, the cart path was under water! There were puddles in the fairways and sand traps, by far the worse conditions I have ever played in. Because of you policy Golf Now, I will never book another course through your service for a golf vacation. I ended up twisting my knee because I slipped while trying to hit my ball on a steep down slope. It was a nightmare!
In need of some TLC
Our tee time was set for 11:48 and we got there with about 30 minutes to spare. Unfortunately, a group of 40 players from NY arrived a few minutes before we did and so the backup would have been huge except that the starter suggested we fit in somewhere on the back nine since things were so hectic. We were a twosome and so we were happy to do that. We started on 15 and rushed through the first couple of holes until things calmed down. The facilities looked run down and the carts did not have GPS.
Pleasantly surprised
Wasn't sure what I was going to find but it turned out that I played this course 20yrs ago. Layout is forgiving but does have a couple demanding holes. Fairways were dormant but greens were rolling smooth. Isn't as demanding as some of the surrounding courses so it's the perfect course to ease into your trip.
lATE wINTER pLAY
Love the course normally. I play it often. Was good shape for the time of the year, but for what I expect from this course (As I said I play it often) I would have thought the superintendent would have had the sand bunkers raked. Was predicted to be 70s for the day. Not only that, but there were no rakes in the bunkers, not one. A FUH PA I hope as the courses there are usually well maintained through out the year.
Great Value for the Winter
I am a local and play this course often. If you ever get a nice winter day with temps in th 60's play this course. The view are still pretty even though everything is brown. Course is always in great shape.
Ocean city golf vacation
Windy but beautiful sunny day on great course
First Time at OCGC
We added our round at OCGC to our planned golf weekend and it was a great start. Not the longest of courses, can get away with not hitting driver on some holes. Course was very wet from storms over the previous week, so some holes were a little soupy. Fairways were also high, probably because of not taking mowers on them. Would give the course another play on a future trip.
Jeff
Nice course has several tough holes will play it again
Good Value
well maintained. Difficult rough
Country club doing us a favor
Nice course - challenging holes - bitting flys on hot humid day - no water on course and no hole layout on scorecard or hole marker - felt like country club was doing us a favor letting us play their course
You booked it through Golf Now and were unset at the course because you couldn't get your money back? Maybe you should have called Golf Now!
Obviously poor conditions due to rain. That much is evident. In addition if you have a set tee time that you prepaid for then why does it become the fault of the course for honoring that time. You can't expect people to accommodate you at every turn sir.
